DGRR thoughts

What a weekend. First DGRR. Met and put faces on great new friends. Did I say great? No.. stupendous friends. Missed award ceremony but get a 2nd!! Didn't even get to drive the Dragon (maybe it was for a reason). Literally climbed a mountain on only trailing plugs. Learned more in one weekend about wankel then my whole lifetime. Got rescued once, twice, three times?! Hell I stopped counting. First, to Tom, you are a saint. I mean it. Cindy and I will never be able to thank you enough. Tim, got his hands dirty on my ride trouble shooting. Crit, right in there with Tim and Mike with the tools and knowledge. Robert?? Don't believe a word he said.. he's a liar. Mike I can't recall your girlfriends name but you are a lucky man. As for me I came away the winner in all respects. Boys, it was my honor to spend the weekend with you. I just wish I took pics at the cabin. Too busy watching you guys on my car. I'm going to start getting my hands dirty too going forward. Buy tools and starting out on the simple stuff first. You guys were an inspiration. If I get stuck I'm in good hands. When we first met Carlos in savanna and he fixed some issues for me I should've known Id meet more like him. Carlos, Ray?? Wish you were there.

Some people say that friends are hard to come by, Not on this group, everyone I met made a lasting impression on me and I will always keep them in mind. I had planned to go to the DGRR since last year, but had a ton of stuff stacking up on me and needed the time to get ahead on most of it. I've been planning a southern cook-out and meet at my house and may just do it this summer, that way we don't have to wait until next DGRR. I believe I have enough space to park about 50 cars. Just need to get busy with planning and organizing and see what happens. Paul congratulations on the award, well deserved

had a great time, seeing old friends again and making new ones. hated hearing bout all the problems some were having, all tho i did have my own little coolant leak to deal with. was no biggie, just replace that old plastic sensor, not used just plugging the hole, with something else to plug the hole. thread pitch for that level sensor in the top tank is m12x1.25. just need to spray a little black paint on it now. didn't get to do much driving as it's running a little hotter than usual, knew this before the trip, but figured it would be ok to make it. just couldn't be driving it hard like i would be on the dragon.

Thanks for posting that, Brett!

It was a good weekend. Lots of good friends, both old and new, lots of good driving, and a story for the OGTA chronicles. I swear I was hearing banjos...

Paul, it was great to meet you and Cindy. The rotary gods were looking out for you. I think this is the first year I have ever gotten cell service up there.

I'm already looking forward to next year!

Now how in the hell did an SE on a flatbed with a flat tire win second place in the 1st gen category???

Just kidding Paul, that is one fine unit you've got there. And yes, the Rotary Gods were truly watching out for you this weekend.

And these Gods aren't some sort of supernatural being you have to believe in - they are true Flesh and Blood, with cell phones that work in the mountains: Tim, Tommy, Crit, Mike ... and especially Robert.

Paul, you need to learn to listen carefully to Robert. What to the uninitiated may seem to be lies are in reality snippets of Profound Wisdom, often wrapped in a Metaphor and sprinkled with Irony. Robert has been to the Mountain Top, let him teach you the Ways of the Rotary.

I should be at DGRR 2018, by then Trump will have been impeached and removed from office, American Democracy will have been restored and Hillary will be installed as our rightful President after it's revealed that Trump and the alt-rights conspired with the Russians to rig the election.

Speaking of Trump, check out this article in today's New York Times about what will happen to the Federal Deficit if Trump's tax cuts get approved:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/01/o...ft-region&_r=0

You know, Conservatives are supposed to be the fiscally responsible people who want to eliminate deficits, so why are the Democrats the only ones who actually do this? (Bill Clinton left office with a surplus).

And why is it that every time a Republican gets in the White House federal deficits skyrocket? (Even Conservatives admit that Trump's plan is going to explode the federal deficit).

You know, the alt-rights talk a lot about cool aid and fake news, but who's fooling who here?

No flat tire here!! Just a sad chain of events that ultimately lead to me, Cindy, Robert, tommy to finally give in to the rotary Gods at ... hell I don't was it 1 or 2 AM? It was towed back to the village parking lot for a good nights sleep. Honestly the more I ponder the last three days the more I just shake my head.... with a huge grin my face. As for Robert, I was joking obviously since it was you he said those profound words about.. or was it Crit, or Mike!? All I know is a bunch of better pirates I've not yet met.!!

I put Ray on several "prayer lists" to try and grant him "serenity" ... me? I'm just praying there's no dogs in his backyard.

Serenity is having 15 good igniters in my igniter bag. (But I tell people I only have a few left).

And two very excitable barking dogs in the yard, one a very large male German shepherd who is smart enough to know a Republican from a Democrat.

And serenity is Jackson, our 14 year old Nubian goat who drinks beer and can smell a Republican a mile away. He makes more sense than most people I know.

And Crit, thanks for your kind words about the goats, they truly are awesome.

And Tommy you are certainly correct, I do not wish Donald Trump well in any respect.

Indeed, I suppose I can relate to the right wingers who felt the same way about Barack Obama when he was president: I really really REALLY don't like the guy.

But with one big difference: The Obama haters openly spoke of death threats; you don't hear that kind of thing from Democrats about Trump.

Violence, threats, bullying and hate may win the day, but in the end they will collapse on themselves, much as Hitler's **** Germany burned in Hell.

Republicans:

Democrats:

Update on the LE project:

I finished the Nikki rebuild today, she is real pretty, I used all my best cadmium-coated parts.

So all the engine peripherals are ready to go.

It shouldn't be too long before the TW12A descends from the tree.

No need to go traipsing around my backyard at night Paul, you might trip over some car parts and hurt yourself.

Send me your mailing address, I'll get a pair of igniters in the mail for you. The only thing I ask is that you learn to install them yourself.

As far as the goats go, they like Coors Lite. Trump they hate, so pics of him are not a good idea.

Click the pic:

And the dogs are Democrats, they don't bite. Or eat steak.

Here's a couple cell phone pics of the carb taken with a flashlight, focus is off and the cadmium doesn't pop like it does in the sun, but since you asked:

The saga continues. Tom, Robert..! Remember that hose Deliverance Boy "found" and installed? It got me home and gave out on my way to the corner store last evening. Had to recut the end at the fire wall and re-install it again to get me home from the parking lot. The nice lady at the convenient store lent me some tools. Still had the Prestone jug filled in back stowaway. Got her home. Now it's time to buy up some tools and start my own "project". And yes Ray.. I'm going to begin working on her myself going forward. Simple stuff at first. Work my way up. I have the best "supporting cast" right here in this thread. I'm going to post the "saga of Tool and die guys first DGRR" soon. Should be good for a few laughs.
