my mishimoto fans/shroud aren't working very well, I'll overheat at stoplights until I get that fixed. I can swing driving it if it's like a 5-10 minutes from a highway lol

Well couldn't pull start engine. Idled for a few seconds but sounded like it was running on one rotor then stalled out.

Seller has agreed to take this engine back and is giving me a full bridge that is currently running out of one of his personal cars. He sent me a video of it running last night.

Going to pull that 12a today and get her packed up for her rode back home.

Sad, it was such a pretty 12A. Let's hope the bridgeport works better, nice of the seller to back up his stuff.

Enjoy the trip back to Mississippi Raul, are you going in the MP5?

We need a coffee shop like this one in the NE Atlanta area:

She's Alive

Ray, definitely took the MP5. Drove 800 miles like a champ. All for $90
Here's the motor exchange.

Got the engine in and she is running. I'm going to bring her to the next meet.

PR greetings

It's been a while since I've posted here. I moved to Puerto Rico last year to return to my roots and get to know the Island as a thru native. Anyhow, miss you guys and know that you have a place to stay if you decide to visit the Island. Did bring my SE with me and it is still a head turner. Had some stuff made for it and added to it like a Mazda RX7 emblem for the side vents and some aluminum covers for the webbers! I am attaching a picture of the covers, just in case,

Aluminum covers
anyone is interested in getting some, as well as the badges

RX7 badge

Good move Carlos, if the Repubs succeed in destroying our democracy and installing a dictator I'll be emigrating myself.

And Puerto Rico would be high on our list, beaches, ocean breeze, etc, etc, etc.

Let's see how the elections go, maybe a visit in late November?

Also good move to keep the SE, I imagine it's doubled in value down there, PR is a place that truly appreciates Wankels.

Robert and Mike are going to drool over those Weber covers, figure on having some made for those guys.

Also, if you have some Webers to go with them, I'll take a pair myself.

Thanks, Ray! November would be a great time to visit. I bought a house in the mountains so is nice and cold in the winter months. Stay cool during the evenings the rest of the year as well. I don't have any webbers, but I'll keep an eye out for a set. The car prices around here are crazy, mine could go for 25k to 30k easily! Good to hear from you Ray!

Just kidding about the Webbers, I realize they're Unobtanium.

But hey, you never know, the Rotary Gods work in strange ways.

A house in the mountains sounds great, post pics!

Maybe we'll have the December 6 OGTA meeting at your place.

I remember my 1st RX7 In PR Back in the early 90s, Living in Bayamon, I Could not Leave that Car unattended with many attempted Car thefts And 1 Time attempted carjacking. I was young and stupid and didn't let anyone take my car, even after they fired shots to try to Take the car.

Well I got the old engine disassembled today. That K-seal stuff does make a pretty good mess. Everything looks good, except for the front housing. I haven't check the spec on anything yet. I also one broken side seal that came out in 2 pieces.
here is a pic of the front housing. Not chatter marks but a nice chunk of chrome missing on the bottom side.
can this be reused?

White, my favorite color:

So you guys who know, what's it like living in Puerto Rico? Do they really try to steal your RX-7 when you're not looking?

What about gun laws? Pot laws? Emissions testing?

Raul. that flaked housing is par for the course, if you got one good one you got a hole in one.

I have a spare 12A housing in decent shape waiting for a good cause, so if you decide to rebuild come take a look.

The OGTA discount applies.

Dec 6 meet here would be awesome! Did found a set of Webber on eBay with a 13B intake. They want a bit too much, $1000.00. Here in Puerto Rico the RX7, Mazda Pickup, and most Toyotas and old Colts are hot commodities. You want to drive the car to a place where you can keep an eye on it. If you are in a mall, theater, or something like that you run the chance to come out and find your car gone or in pieces. If you have a cool solid built car and you show it often enough they watched you and wait for the right moment! Sad.

I worry about the same thing when I take the LE to OGTA meetings at the Georgia Mall.

Go into Taco Hell for a beer, come back out and the wheels are gone or worse.

What's the legal situation in PR with regard to guns, pot and vehicle inspections? Can you have a fireplace in your backyard?

I need options.

Got a link to those Webbers?

In GA for my concealed carry permit, which allowed me to carry in all 50 states I paid 35 dollars a year and did the required qualification course. Here is going to cost me between 350 to 600 dollars. Backyard fireplace as far as I know is allowed. no open pit fires thought.
Here is the link for the webbers;

The extra expense on the carry permit is worth it, it will keep guns out of the hands of people who can't afford it.

If someone can't handle $350 for a permit, they can't handle the expense of the gun, much less the responsibility of owning it.

Nice webbers!

1. Almost positive GA CCW doesn't allow for 50-state reciprocity unless I'm missing something. And PR only has 13 States.
https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/res...p/ga-gun-laws/

2. There shouldn't be financial barriers to any exercise you're entitled to. Being economically productive doesn't distinguish anything in regards to capacity, intent, or even justification. Any fees beyond reasonable administrative processing is grounds for being argued as a disincentive moreso than an actual litmus test of capability. And if the goal is to dissuade people from a right, then that's a losing proposition on it's face as we proved regularly via various attempts to implement poll taxes.

As for concern about car theft/damage. After living in Los Angeles and having a couple of very valuable classic cars that were very easy to steal. The anxiety was never worth being that worried about it.
It'll happen if it does. But I just have a dollar figure for every one of my vehicles. If it gets stolen and I get this payout, I am not losing a bit of sleep. Outside of my Denali all my vehicles have stated value coverage. Straight up lowkey hope some tweaker steals it everytime lol.

But I know guys who literally cannot put a dollar value on their vehicle that would ease their mind. And guys like that, all I can say is that freaking sucks. I would never take my car out if I had that much emotional investment in it. It would never be worth it.

You are right about the GA CCW, but my permit comes from the LEO federal mandate as a retired federal officer. There are no states in PR.
As far as what is allowed by the laws, many US laws are not followed here, even though we are under the same constitution. Many of the laws here are written to benefit some and not all.
I have never had any concerns about the vehicles being stolen, as I always kept them well insured. A car is a car, and I have enjoyed this one the longest, 20 + years.

If "reasonable administrative processing" included the funeral expenses, as it reasonably should, for the innocent Americans killed every day by the Gun Culture, concealed carry permits would be a lot more expensive.

Add the pain and suffering of the large majority of Americans caused by the small minority of gun worshipers and you begin to understand the true cost of of unregulated guns for the average American.

Gun People like to cite the Second Amendment, as if they know what they're talking about. But they don't, this so called "right" can, and should, be taken away. If it can be done for abortion, stealing a woman's right to life itself, it can be done for the Gun People; let them pay for the funerals, let them behave like the rest of the civilized world.

We hear a lot about the crime pandemic in this country from the right wing fear mongers, but the truth is that the crime rate in America has been declining for years. We worry a lot about our precious RX-7s getting stolen, but has anyone hear actually had this happen? Not me, not in a lifetime. Not a robbery, not a home invasion, no road rage attack, 70 years and counting. What are we afraid of?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-gun, I have a few myself. But they have their place, in the home and with people like Carlos, who has major training in their proper use. Where these deadly weapons don't belong is in the pants of wanna be cowboys who get off when their pistol barrel rubs their dick.

ah got it that makes sense. There's enough footage of the violence out there that gets leaked where I'd def want a sense of self control. That's pretty cool you have that exception.

But all the issues you've cited aren't harms inflicted by the law abiding. I disagree with your overall conclusion inspite of the same values we claim to share.

They're all law abiding, until someone gets maimed or killed.

Only an idiot will claim that the rate of gun violence in America, 10 times greater than any other civilized country, is not caused by guns.

Innocent people killed every day by gun violence

To paraphrase James Carville, it's the guns, stupid.

It's worth pointing out America isn't more violent because of guns.

Since our inception we've always been statistically more violent than our European counterparts.

However the common denominator is diversity. Everywhere in the world the higher your diversity fractionalization the higher the rate of violence. This pattern is evident all over the world. Europe has less than 1/10th of our diversity fractionalization. It's a lot easier to have a safer and more trusting community when everyone is raised in a shared culture. Unfortunately that's never been an advantage in the US.

And banning guns doesn't make diverse populations less violent. It just creates more potential victims.

The most interesting component of crime withing highly diverse communities is a vast majority of violent crime is intracial.

In any case crime exists. There aren't enough cops or any realistic idea of safety for anyone. I don't think the solution is dissuading people from lethal defense. I don't know if you read the news but there's a lot more people dying from car jackings than mass shootings. Statistically the more realistic fear is being held up at gunpoint by a criminal.

It makes no sense to fixate on a statistic that's meaningless when contextualized. It's like choosing to prioritize the paper cut on a patient when he's got a massive gash on his back and suggest removing the possibility of people getting paper cuts will stop the bleeding. Similarly to how we fixate on rifles when handguns are without question on a ration almost ten to one responsible for gun violence.

The lack of rational leads many to believe the argument is being made in bad faith. And many just conclude those who hold similar positions to you don't actually value the firearms as a right. You don't think it's a right. You think it's a privlege. It helps to start with that instead of suggesting you support the right but immediately begin qualifying ownership as a privlege.

Having been born and raised in Algeria during the black decade and witnessing how seemless unarmed communities are exploited. My position is immovable. Unequivocally gun ownership has vastly greater benefit than disadvantage. P

Some changes

Managed to put some other bucket seats so I have a spare set of RX8 seats if anyone wants to grab them.

Also grabbed some old-school mini truck wheels for $70.
I like the way they look on the truck.
