picked up a sweet sa yesterday and messed with it a little this morning. not running but in pretty good condition otherwise. only rust i've found is in the hood. tank had already been taken off to get all the rust flakes and dust out. guy i got it from(3rd owner) said he had gotten it up and running with some carb he got from a junkyard but didn't know what it originally came from. and it too is a nikki but a 2bbl. will be rebuilding the original carb to put back on. interior is in really good shape considering age. there's evidence it's had a respray.

Here is the newest addition to our family. It is the result of my wife being stuck all day without food at DGRR two years ago. Not a rotary I know but she would not be persuaded to let me get her a nice SA, so I got her what she wanted:

Very classy shift **** and e-brake handle I wanted one of those steering wheels for my FC but couldn't ever justify the price.

Miata's always make good rotary substitute vehicles. Im thinking of adding one to my stable in the next year or two.

Nice move Robert, now YOU can buy yourself that minty stock SA you've been talking about.

Do you want me to start searching the Atlanta area Craigs lists?

Very pretty, Robert. You even got the color combination right, and you thought I wasn't paying attention.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is special about the wheel? All the miatas I looked at had the same wheel, is it not standard miata issue?

That particular one is slightly different, I wanted one with the Mazda logo in the center, maybe those are special or something... Does yours say Nardi on it?

That one is on ebay for $225 or so with the airbag, and it's from Malaysia. One from the US goes for over $300...

Nice Robert. What year is that? Its got the colors and interior that reminds me of one
of the special editions that came out in the past.

That green on tan is a great combination. And it's good to see you got her a 6 speed.

Not many girls know how to drive a standard shift these days. Not many guys under 30 either.

Mine does say Nardi, the enblem is the same as your pic, but it is in the center, so there is not a Mazda enblem.

While the steering wheel may not be very rare, the shift **** may be.

A guy on the Miata forum just told me that one in good shape, (mine is perfect) just sold on E-bay for $380.00!!!!!

It is a 2000 LS. There is a Special Edition for that year that had a few extra options, but this one had the ones I wanted. I like the body kit and it has the leather seats and the torsen LSD that everyone seems to like, so I'm happy, even if I will not be driving it much. Lou Ann has informed me that I will have to submit a request in writing a week ahead of time to drive it!!!

My wife preferred the straight shift. She thinks she knows how to drive one, and I refuse to buy an automatic sports car, so I got her the stick. I suspect I will become a expert at Miata clutch replacement.

I rode with her the other day and it was all I could do to keep my mouth shut, but I surprised myself and demonstrated an iron will and said nary a word.

Been married long enough to know thats the best way.

When I bought the GSL SE, I told my wife that it would be her car. Put it in her name and everything. Just about every weekend in February and March when I was outside working on parting out the FC, she would come outside to check on me and would end up taking the SE for a 5 to 45 minute spin.

The first few times I put a wheel chock behind a tire since our driveway is on a slope, but she picked up really good on driving a manual and didn't need it for long. She had driven my 5 speed Ranger and the FC a few times but she never drove them much because I was always in the passenger seat and made her nervous. Letting her drive the SE on her own really helped her. She 's been driving the BMW a good bit lately, too. Mama likes rowing through the gears with the windows down

Thats my plan as well, since the Miata does not have a rotary, I don't plan to ride in it much, so she will be free to shift without me looking over her shoulder. However, I do wish that I could get her to understand that its not good to lug the engine. Once she is in 5th she doesn't see the need to downshift much, until she stops anyway!

That just means you will have to do maintenance like blowing the carbon out on
some backroad occasionally

Next year at DGRR, The Blue One and Lou Ann's Miata will be in the covered car port. The white one with the whale tail, the silver one with the del horto, and flipper are out the street where they belong.

Mike, doesn't one of the Ten Commandments say something about not coveting another man's wife's Miata?

I thought there would be no flipper next year, but an FB in its place...?
