I dunno about Holly, but I'll sure have a cow over that. Holly and my own Mazdas should count because we're still Rotary Enthusiasts and have owned an FD and an FC respectively....plus I still own one. Sabine should totally count for *something*...she's a little ill right now and hasn't been able to make it out there but she *wants* to go!

Brett and I Rit dyed his maroon floormats black today. That stuff rocks.

yeah, i know those old school ones are impossible to get hold of, so i have been trying for the last 3 years to track down some red reflective material to reproduce one very similar to the old ones, but nobody seems to even sell the red plastic. it's been a wild goose chase, i've exhasted all the places in my area that i could think might possibly know. i think all that's left now is some sort of industrial material company that might have something like it, but i have yet to find one.

I thought about carrying mine around to a few shops (since I dont have an FB ) and see if they could reproduce one. Maybe one day I will check around up here. Then they could make the longer one needed for the SA

yeah. well if you could even find the right kind of plastic in a big enough sheet to make one out of, they are very simple, a guy closeby had one a while back and i checked it out and it would be easy to make.

Ben the car looks great! And in my opinion would look just fine with the stock center piece. I have an extra if you need one.

Hey has anybody noticed the change in my avatar yet? Wankel Whisperer? I decided I had risen to that level when I talked the White One into starting the morning after that snow storm.

Ray, I noticed it and meant to comment on it yesterday. I like it and I have seen the "Wankel Whisperer" in action. If I remember correctly, I think you had a romantic moment with my carburator once. I will admit my carb is a bit of a harlot, but I love her anyway.

So the chassis is a guy and the carb is a girl? Does that make the Gray Ghost a hermaphodite?

Seat Cleaning Advice

I picked up some seats for my car last night. They're the gray checker pattern, like have now minus the stains and rips. They are dirtier than I had hoped, but it looks like they are dirty from sitting in a garage. I am going to vacuum them really well first, but I think maybe some upholstery cleaner will be needed. Anyone have recomendations for cleaning seats?

oh, that's a good question. my passenger seat is in need of a good cleaning. i was probably just going to an auto supply retailer and picking up whatever upholstery cleaner they have.

This conjures up all sorts of ideas about guys from rural GA (Jefferson), but I better leave this alone. Is that a banjo I hear...

No beer for me last night, had to go home and work. Jeffrey's used to have lots of hot waitresses, wonder what happened?
I can't agree with Collin on this one. Collin must have been the one to talk you into that. Collin, our cars will count at ZoomFest, they ARE Mazdas, but certainly no equivalent to any rotary powered vehicles. I vote with boingers don't count. Just honorable mention of the rotorheads that show up in another vehicle, while theirs is down or no ownership of a rotary at the time. I think we want to encourage rotorheads to come out and DRIVE their rotories, but still come if you are just a rotorhead.

I agreed to the increase equivalent count for FCs for just that night.

You guys might have some luck going by Carnett's or another detail / car wash outfit. I never thought of it before, but I'm sure they'd know how to get the seats clean for a few bucks.

Wanna' go fishin' Mike?

Ben, Crit's right, I got the light. I'll bring that and the center piece to the next meeting (or if you need them sooner we can arrange a pick up). No cost to OGTA members, check your benefits package.

Generally we defer to Holly's judgment as the final word, but with your permission Holly, could we take a vote on the 12A equivalency issue?

OGTA folk, what's your preference, should we keep the old system (Option A):

FB's (including SE's) = 1 12A
SA's = 1.5 12A's
Certified old school rotaries = 2.0 12A's
FC's = 0.5 12A's
FD's = 0.3333333333 12A's
RX-8's = 1/8 12A
boinger's are tolerated but don't count; all rotarheads get honorable mention even if temporarily stuck with a boinger

Or should we go with the new (Option B):

FB's (including SE's) = 1 12A
SA's = 1.5 12A's
Certified old school rotaries = 2.0 12A's
FC's = 0.75 12A's
FD's = 0.5 12A's
RX-8's = 0.333333333333333 12A's
boinger's are tolerated but don't count; all rotarheads get honorable mention even if temporarily stuck with a boinger

a slight variation on option A. each new generation adds the number of generational steps from FB/SA to the denominator.

FB's (including SE's) = 1 12A
SA's = 1.5 12A's
Certified old school rotaries = 2.0 12A's
FC's = 1/2 12A's
FD's = 1/3 12A's
04-08 RX-8's = 1/4 12A
09+ RX-8's = 1/5 12A
boinger's are tolerated but don't count; all rotarheads get honorable mention even if temporarily stuck with a boinger
