That's a very nice car, Gene. I was actually at my grandparents house a few weekends back helping my grandpa install headlights/ blinkers on his 29 Model A. He found some round housings with built in blinkers on the bottom of the housing. I like how you did yours though, too. He'll get a kick out of the pictures.

I wish I could have made it out. I'm in Houston at the moment and our conference is going great. It's been an exciting week- my first plane ride, my first business trip, my first conference, my first luxury hotel, my first time out to a super nice restaurant... I could get to enjoy this :-)

I did the whole presentation for the workshop, all 200+ slides. To top everything off, I've been with the company for exactly a year as of today, so hopefully I get a little present soon.

Great to hear your news Brett. Keep up the good work, it will pay off. Be careful of the first open bar, hospitality suite experience. Ask me how I know.

Did Holly ever give us an official count from the OGTA meet this week? This tardiness is going to be reflected in your performance review, Holly.

Just a warm up for the Mitty Michael! It is great to see some new cars and folks showing up. And the Mitty gathering should be the largest rotary blast in recent memory.

I hope Brett isn't getting too important to talk to us. Tim I think Brett is already married so if he meets another one on the business trip it could be trouble. Or complicated, at least.

Yeah, what was the 12A count for last night anyway? When I left around sunset there were still some more cars rolling in.

WARNING!!! A NOVEL OF A POST LIES BENEATH THIS WARNING LABEL =p

Hey guys, was fun seeing everyone at the meet the other night! I learned a lot about my car from Billy, and Gene.

Got the call from Zen today. They found water condensation in my oil lines and said the engine is probably going to go soon.... and i could either have it rebuilt, rebuild it my self, or swap/ have it swapped to a new engine (Dan tried to push a LS1 on me LOL, that *******, [he's a great guy though])

So... I'm faced with a decision, the first starting with driving till she does blow... which is currently my only plausible option, then seeing how my money is from there for a fix. or i could park her, buy a used RX8, and rebuild the 7 on my own time.

BUT!!!! Today I stopped by a friends towing shop and guess what they had just pulled in?? A EM-FFING FC RX7!!!!

BUT NOT JUST ANY RX7!!! A EM-FFING TURBO II, with a straight *** dent free body, and minimal rust, a few spots of paint bubling, nothing that 200 bucks at a body shop wouldnt fix.

heres the sad news.... the engine was torn apart, like someone was rebuilding it and got lost.

so, my question is, should I buy it as a project and put it back together?? I took pics for reference

So this is my options now. Buy this Turbo II, if no one claims it from them in a few months, and rebuild it little by little and restore it. keep my FB running as long as possible, or park it as well and buy a little 1000 dollar civic to daily or some ****.

BUT my question is... is this a good idea to try and buy this turbo II cheap and make it a full project car, project meaning like spend a year or longer on it and take my time.

I think the question really is...... Do you want a project?

I love the "New Car Scent" in this pic. That makes me giggle.

New car scent indeed!

Carlton, that FC is a mess. If I were you, I'd start by putting a bottle of stop leak in your FB, that just might stop the coolant leak and everything will be fine. Then use your time and money to fix up the FB - simpler, cheaper, faster, funner.

Kristy, you do good work! I think you missed it, but there was a Subgroup meeting of the Old School Committee that took up the issue of vehicles that were older than anybody at the meeting (ie Gene's Jalopy). It was voted on, decided and bonded that the Model A needed to be awarded 3 full 12 A points, based on the integrity of the design alone.

So that gets us up to:

TOTAL 18.16 12A EQUIVALENTS

(Notice those bold fonts there dudes).

Also, it is my personal opinion (not to be confused with Wisdom, but damn close) that a Startlett with a 12A in it (or any previously boingered vehicle with similar upgrades) deserves at least 1 12A equivalent. Was this one of the "Old School Conversions" that is listed (Juan's)? And if so, what was the other conversion (Carly's)? I don't think there were any other conversions there when I left around sundown.

Not a bad turnout!

We'll see what the Mitty brings.

I second Ray's opinion (not to be confussed with wisdom). Did you see that ball of wires in the passenger seat? Put some stop leak in the FB and start looking for a good 12A or 13B to swap in. For a grand and little patient shopping you can probably get a good motor, intake and exhast. Don't tell Ray I suggested a 13B swap.

Ray nice work on the bold text. If the microbiology professor gig doesn't workout, I think you have future in IT.

Step 1: Get your car back
Step 2: Change the oil - including oil in cooler (or are you behive?)
Step 3: Drive it as normal
Step 4: Change oil in 3000 Miles and check it for water.
Step 5: Wait another 5 years for it to blow up
Step 6: Insert S4 NA motor
Done.

My girlfriend's going to get a kick out of that comment, Ray. I don't think there were any women there for her to worry about. The youngest one I met had to of been in their 30's, and I'm not too fond of older women I'm back home now and I had a great time. The room bill could have nearly covered my monthly rent, so everything felt sort of weird while I was there. I think I could get used to it, though...

Did it look like the wiring harness was the only thing that had been hacked on or were there more worries? If it's just the engine wiring harness and the car isn't over $1500-2K in it's current state I would say go for it. It looks like the previous owner was in the process of upgrading it (rad, e-fan, intake, dual belt pulley, plug wires). Replace that harness and rebuild the core and it looks like it would be a nice ride. S5 at that...! And the interior seems to be all there besides a few plastic vents that are always broken...

Thanks for the Info and advice everyone..

My plans as of now, are to get the FB back... change the oil as suggested, and try to drive it as softly as possible... all while looking for a DD like a corolla or civic. something cheap like a 89 civic, like 900 dollar car or something..

and then buy this Turbo II when they shoot me a price. I'm hoping to get it for like 500 bucks.... and then ima tare it apart, and rebuild it, and restore it... at the same time, ill rebuild the FB... lol

I'm not getting rid of my FB ever.. I'll keep it until i either have a better FB, or I die... but if its not a street car, ill track it in a heart beat. =)

I just REALLLLLYYY dont wanna miss out on a nearly mint turbo II... I shoulda got pics of the body..... darn

Good Grief Ray.... 3 FULL POINTS? What would you give it, if it had a rotary?

TOTAL 18.16 12A EQUIVALENTS I noticed it wasn't bolded. You'll get it right some day Ray. You just want to bold so bad.

There were at least 2 more cars that drove in after you left Ray. And yes, a 2nd starlett with a rotary.

Definitely check that crank case vent Carleton. Gene knows what of he speaks.

Truck? What Truck? You getting in a contest with Crit?

I think I have the bold right, but every time I do it the mods undo what I did.

Here, I'll try it again:

3 FULL POINTS?

Did you see that? It was bold for about 5 minutes and then it disappeared.

The OGTA meet is really starting to be the place to be. 2 rotary powered Starlets and Model T all at the same meet. We are going to have to start posting videos of hot, loud rotaries tearing up and down the street like the guys from Cali do.
