I thought about coming to IA, but was planning on working on a friends car all day. When they told me they didn't need me, I decided to work on my car instead. Gotta have the FC looking good for the Mitty, nah mean?

My rear quarter panel is just about in line. It needs a slight amount of filler to make the body line perfect, but other than that it's good. I ended up stripping the whole quarter panel Saturday because I felt like there was too much filler in places, so we worked the metal a bit more and re-bondo'd it. Even had time to half-*** paint it... lol

On another note, I've got 2 guys interested in the convertible. One wants to buy it outright, the other wants to trade for a Chevy S10. The guy wanting to buy it is looking at it Friday, and if he doesn't like it I'm riding to Marietta to look at the S10 trade. I finally fixed the flooding issue by adding a switch on the fuel pump. Now the only other problem is the rear U joint on the driveshaft (I believe...)

My neighbor and I went to watch a friend of his at the Chin Motorsports track day at Road Atlanta this past Sunday. Mostly rich guys with cool cars, but some daily drivers and us mere mortals with cars under $10K, some under $5K.
That looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive WFO on a closed course with other (hopefully)competent drivers.
Anybody done it?

I have done about 4 track days at RA. They were with NASA and SCCA events. It is a very fun, addictive, and very $$ hobby. Plan on at least 600-1k for a normal 3 day weekend of track fun. You absolutley burn thru the fuel. I get an outstanding 4 MPG in my single turbo FD on the track. A little less than 2 laps

It is one of the most fun things I have ever done and will contiinue to do them as I can. You should buy my FD at the Mitty and get hooked!

It's a riot.

There are a lot of track days organized around here for TGPR. Great place to get your feet wet. Less expensive than RA, and more forgiving for the beginner.

See if you can convince Billy to organize another one .

Did you guys ever have one of those days?

Cathy snapped this shot today of a skink down by the pond. Not sure why the skink is eating his tail.

But it could'a been me, so I can't blame the poor guy.

Nice video Peter. She's cute and the SA is gorgeous. To bad about those ferrets.

Well, as long as you make it to the May OGTA meet, in an FB, that's cool. We can tune the carb in the parking lot.

Sorry for being clueless, but what is "TGPR"?
Thanks

Yes I can see where it would be expensive. The guy we went to see has a C5 Vette. He broke a timing chain (his 3rd one!) and must pull the heads to get the bent valves replaced and any other damage repaired. I told my friend to have him buy a valveless Rx and be done with it!

I'd love to have an FD, especially one that has the excess crap removed.

One more post....

A black Benz had the gall to give a black Rx-8 a swift kick in the rear end this morning on I-85 south near Jimmy Carter!

TGPR = Talladega Grand Prix Raceway. A cool little track in Anniston, Alabama. I think it is about 1.5 miles. I went to the last event Billy set-up and had a blast. I will say that TGPR is murder on brakes. I burned thru a new set of pads and destroyed my front rotors down there. Well worth it.

The costs I posted earlier are based on my costs. Included are gas to and from the track. Gas at the track, event entry fee, hotel fee, food and beer fee. Misc. parts fund while at the track. Being a local to the track will save you some $$ where I spend it. You can camp at the track as well, but I like to get a good nights sleep before going 140+ on the back straight.

Gosh, I hope that wasn't Billy's FE! I just went by there at about 8:45, lot's of traffic but I didn't see the accident, they must have cleaned it up.

140 mph? I was born too old for that stuff.

Ahh, the advantage of an FB. Yeah, TGPR is a bit hard on brakes, but FBs don't weigh anything, and last time I checked, rotors were about $16 a piece, and pads were about $50 an axle.

You can get a day at TGPR with an FB for about $200, including fees and gas.

Stock wheels, so not Billy's.
A woman in her 30's was leaning up against the car when I drove by.

My friend got to ride in the Vette for about 5 laps. He thought 140 was a great time. Come on Ray!
