Sizzler if you're going let me know, I'd like to ride with you if you've got room. I live in your dorm if you recall and I get out of class at 11 on Friday's. I definately want to see how all this goes if somebody's got an open seat in their car.

My question is this: how does the car feel when you're actually running it under nitrous?Once I get everything hooked up right, can I just flip the arming switch and do a drag start without having to worry about any kind of engine damage? It should only engage at WOT, and I know I really shouldn't floor it under like 4000 rpm or something. As far as accessories, I'm going to be running a purge valve, and I may end up buying a fuel pressure safety switch. I'm also upgrading my injectors and fuel pump and getting everything dyno tuned. What is your setup right now? What accessories do you have with your kit? I've been told kits are never adequate right out the box, and since mine is used I expect maybe some stuff to be missing.

I'd appreciate any info or advice.
Well, I am running a Zex system w/ a 55hp shot, I have a purge kit, purge light and a bottle pressure gauge. If you are going to launch out of the hole spraying, you have to control the car better because it is more power hitting making it more likely to break loose. If your system is like mine it activates at WOT, then just arm and go. I wouldn't suggest luanching at WOT, it's more stress on the engine. The ride is great, I break traction every shift. it shaved a second off my times. What time's the meet today?

Horse, would you mind giving me a ride in your 8 and spraying it for me? I'd like to know first hand what it's going to be like. I plan to run a 55 shot as well, at least at first. I don't know if we're going to meet up today or whatever with the weather. Didn't somebody say it's at 3 or something? If it is, I'll be there later because I've got to get some stuff done.

yeah sure, now it's all ice I tried going out but I slde the whole way done the street, tried to turn and made doughnut. So I figured, if this is me with the traction control I don't want to test everybody without it. I might be able to keep control, but they scare me.

Just got off the phone with Bert.

No meeting if you feel you can't make it. Blah blah blah. Trying to think of "what Bert would say" in this situation.

He's at Char-Grill right now, just chilling there to see if anyone decides to venture out. Otherwise, he said he'll see everyone the 2nd weekend in February.

I'm a mini-Bert. Haha

Raindrops are falling on my head.... This BS with the weather is getting old folks. I need a burger, a shake and an RX7 fix. Plus we couldn't give a decent send off to the guys leaving.
Why can't it do this mess in the middle of the week so I can get an extra day off!!!!

Winter Drive-In, Oops!

hey Guys I just got home from the Drive-In Do Over, that's DIDO for all you initial freaks, and the attendance was reminescent of the meets back in May of '04.

Here is a photo of today's Drive_in that pretty much sums it all up:

Glad y'all stayed out of this weather. Christina was the only one that called to see how I was doing and to check on me. That's why we should always have a few women in the group. Thanks Perky girl for thinking of the ol'man.

We'll be gathering again in a couple of weeks, and I hope we have some new metal to look at and hope everyone stays safe til then.

Greg, bring your get-tar and seranade us. An evening of music, now ain't we gettin' classy, or is that just the influence of the cars we drive and love?

Bert

Items up for Discussion at the next Drive-In

Several items I wanted to bring up tonight and will have to wait until February 12. Tyler, ViolatedDSM, has suggested that we have the downeast rotary meetup at Rotary Park in Morehead City sometime in May and Phil, herblenny, has taken up my offer to help him in however he needs our help on the Deals Gap Rally in April. I haven't gotten any specifics from him yet but I suggested that the group should make a donation to the EMS and Law Enforcement agencies that handle the problems on the Tail of the Dragon as a show of appreciation by us for what they do. Try to reverse the dynamic between the people that use US 129 for recreation and the agencies that have responsibility for it. I hope we can make this something that all groups adopt and contribute to for Graham County, NC and Blount County, TN.

I have also submitted a draft Maintenance Checklist that all rotary participants should follow to insure that their cars are prepared for the drive and all the drivers know the conditions of their rides before they depart for the event. I'll have copies of this for y'all to look over and comment on after Phil gives me his feedback on its use.

Also I would like several of you to volunteer to take on organizing and putting on the GRR of NC 2005. Now that the first one is history and we have some idea of what needs to happen to make the next one better I would love to hand it off to several people to run this year. What do you say?

Also need some ideas from everyone about what we want to do as a group this year, Bobby mentioned bowling, maybe a contest between 7 & 8 owners; Dave and several others would like to have a day at a local drag strip to watch us all run and it looks like we're gonna have some serious muscle cars amongst us this year that would be fun to see on a strip. I would like us all to have a group thing up at VIR at one of the races or everyone show up at one of the drivers schools just to get in some track time during the public laps.

We can also get a picnic shelter at Beaver Dam Rec Area on Falls Lake and have a Saturday cookout in the summer. I would like to hear what you'd like us to do as a group this year at the next Drive-In.

Bert, let me know if there is anything I can do for the Deal's Gap event.

I would also be happy to attend the Eastern event in May.

Personally, I would like to see some events like the ones you mentioned. Perhaps a drag strip day sometime in spring, before it gets to hot.

I know we'd mentioned a triathlon of sorts(drag, auto-x, road track). Perhaps we could do it similarly to the Ultimate Sports Car Challenge that Sports Compact Car does. Get some cars to compete in those three categories, as well as others like show, comfort, etc.

We could definitely do a couple of cookouts this summer. There are some nice roads out past falls dam. I think you can actually get the cars up on the dam, which would make and awesome photo op.

Sorry, we didn't have a meet this weekend. Ryan and Scott, you will be missed at the meets. Hopefully, your time in the military will be of good benefit to you. I know it is of unmeasurable value to those of us who don't serve. Make sure and try to make it to the meets when you get done with boot and AIT. Hopefully, by the time you are done, this mess in Iraq will be over, before you get assigned. Good luck!

Ryan if you go to Iraq though you will make good money at least, with almost no expenses and everything. I know someone who went to Iraq and saved the money from his tour of duty and bought a brand new '03 Mustang Cobra outright with no loan.

Capn ,is this what an A.E. looks like? I may soon be parting with mine. Congradulations on your car.

Josh, I think you're on here as much as I am.

As always Bert has to carry this group with his dedication.

Hey! I know that car. I was at work one night in Cary and looked over to the Home Depot parking lot and saw that car. Walked over there and put a flyer on the car. I know it is the car because i remember that spot on the drivers side quarter panel. LOL, thats pretty funny. Nice find!

*sniff* The rx-7 chick is loved. BTW... when I saw Bert's car all alone in that picture, I laughed my butt off. I could swear he had a sound affect file attached that sounded like crickets!

Josh, I'll pass the word along to Scott... he's rarely on here... but his screenname on here is freak328. (I think.)

I don't know if I will be able to venture to the next meeting, because I may be going skiing that weekend with a friend. We'll see. A can't wait until TOTD, so yeah... if anyone wants to help this poor chick out with figuring some of my FC's issues out, please let me know.

Scott's not gonna be around to help me get her ready before then. ...so any love ya wanna show will be much appreciated.

Sorry I missed y'all today. I was all excited about meeting up with everyone. Looks like snow's really going to screw up the meeting for next time for me, since I will probably go where the snow is, instead of it coming here.
