I tried to find it but, I have to ask. When are you all going to Deals Gap? I'd like to tag along and maybe get my sosns to partciapate too. I plan to run it then take my FC to Kevin in Tenn for some engine work.

I was up at Char-Grill yesterday around 15:00....I got out of meps about 14:00.....went over to triangle town center, had some well deserved lunch and headed over to strickland to see if any of you guys were over there. When I left meps at 14:00 I figured some of you would be out there....it wasn't THAT bad out! Ah...but, I guessed wrong. After I drove around Char-Grill I went out to wake forest and played poker with some buddies until 01:00 last night Hehe I won the pot!

I should be able to make it to the next meet. I recieved my orders yesterday and I'll be off to basic on march 9th in Ft Leonard Wood, Mo.

I can't decide whether I should bring my FC or my RX-8 to Deals Gap.
Isn't RX tuner going to be there, they weren't there for the RX-8?

^ Who knows what state your FC will be in at that point? You just can't ever be sure what kind of problems will come up. I wouldn't try to make that decision until much later.

Well guys, i haven't posted in a while, SO i will let ya'll know what i have been up to.

I am back into the turbo II game again. I am the proud owner of a black 88 TII with 112k original miles. Car has just been painted rescently. The previous owner thought the engine was pretty much gone. He said it smoked and burned oil, so he sold it to me for a very attractive $800. Drove the car home 120 miles without any problems at all. Got the car home and did a compression test and got 90psi on the front rotor and 85psi on the rear rotor. Nothing great but pretty exciting for a $800 car in my opinion.

My plans had been to find a car with a blown engine and build a monster out of it, but since the motor has descent compression, i decided to try and get a little more life out of it, but not in its stock condition that is. So i ripped off the upper intake and removed the rats nest and other things not needed. Then ran new vacuum lines to the components needed. For the fuel, i installed some Greedy 720cc injectors. Thats how the car sits right now. Got to finish putting the intake back on it. Once that is done, i have a turbo inlet duct to make, 3" downpipe and Greddy PE exhaust to install. I am also going to send my ECU off to get the RTEK chip installed since i have heard some many good things about it. It is hard to beat for $120 when you consider a FCD runs $70 and you dont need a fuel controller for the 720's. The fuel controller alone would run you about $250. So thats how my project sits right now.

I also got some other goodies from the guy that sold me the car. He GAVE me a Corksport front bumper! This thing is really sweet looking and i can't wait to put it on someday. Its about the only bumper that i have actually liked. Also got a Fluidyne radiator, Greddy FMIC, and a few other odds and ends. I dont think i will put them on the car quite yet, they are going to await the new engine.

We are monsterizing the Turbo IIs this year. I think we all have a case of monster fever.

Yeah, but i'm keeping the microtech in the closet for now. When you started talking about T-66, T-70, and T-78 turbo's, i had done a lot of reasearch building a car with that much HP. I talked to a guy down near the coast and he was putting out 700+ hp on a T-66, but he had some major frame mods done to it. He also said he started going through tranny's around 500Hp. So thats what i'm shooting for. I dont want to have to put a tranny in every month if you know what i mean.

Dirty damn, I didn't see it until it was too late. That would have been awesome for Lucy though. Thanks for the thought, Josh. I'm still looking around for another 12a to swap and a place to work on her.

I just got my issue of RX Tuner on Friday and found the article at the back that RSR will be doing on technical issues. That will be a great help to all us 7 owners. I also saw the photo spread they had for the Winter Rotary Meet in Jacksonville, FL, it says that they had about 40 rotaries there most 7 and only one RX8. We had 30+ cars at our first GRR of NC. This year we might be able to get our event covered in the mag. We'll start working on this event in March and build up the interest so that this fall we can do it in October and get 50+ cars to the rally.

Anyone that doesn't get this magazine dedicated to rotaries should subscribe this year. It is a great source of information on what's going on in the rotary community and includes looks at all the interests of rotary owners, drag racing, road racing, drifting, car shows and just keeping your ride looking its best and running great. It covers the latest performance mods available and usually has several reader rides featured in each issue. Josh, TO, Taylor, Johny, y'alls cars with the mods and painting you're doing would rate right up there with the ones I've seen featured in RX Tuner.

I shoulda PMed you. I will keep an eye out for a good 12a. you could always do a TII swap.

Bert, flipping through the latest issue I was thinking the same thing. We have much nicer cars in our group, as well as a whole pile of members if we can all get coordinated like we did at GRR.

It sounds like this year we are going to have not only nice looking cars, but also some speed in our group.

Maybe like you mentioned when we do GRR this year we can have them cover the event. That would almost makes us like a real club.

Now, if we could only get our GRR shirts from last year. *cough JOHNY cough*

Also, I hope this isn't a retarded question... and I'll understand if you guys don't want to let me do it but..... can I still get a GRR shirt even though i wasn't able to make it out? I gotta represent the group you know!

How much was the pineapple pan? I have been reading up on it and wasn't aware of the engine flex. I think my CFMs are going to be up in the $10/mile range before I drive it.

I am glad you finally got your stuff. Oh, how sweet it will be when all the FDs finally come back together, so, we can show these FCs and RX8s that they don't run the joint.

Yeah, that was my thought. I think some of the cars are definitely up to the standards of the reader rides they feature. Steve does his new TII up right and you and TO finish your mods, Johny and Taylor get their rides back together then we ought to get some photos and a write-up for each car and submit it to RX Tuner for publication. For next Christmas I'd like to get a photo of Greg in a Santa Claus suit with his rear hatch open and a big bag of toys sitckin' out of the rear cargo area - maybe we could get the photo during the next snow that we have. Anyone have a Santa suit we could borrow? Joey has a red FC as well doesn't he and I know we have a couple of red FDs in the group, and Lauren has a red FB.

We could get a photo with one red car from each generation and an RX8 and do a computer screen saver with Johny's version of the Night Before Christmas being read as the snow flakes fall.

I have been disapointed in the FC's they have featured in the magazine, especially that black TII that they had in the last one. I found that car pretty hidious. Anybody else feel the same way?

I wasn't going to say anything, but damn that was a bit of rice wasn't it? diamond plate, painted interior, huge wing, and no attention to performance. WHAT is this world coming to? I didn't see anything special about that car whatsoever. Oh, and was the front end the ugliest thing you've seen on an FC?

anyhow, i didn't want to be the first to bring it up and be accused of being an FC-hater or something.

I like that sig.

Josh, the oil pan w/the bolt kit is $450, it supposedly solved the oil leak issue with its built in o-ring and provides some extra support to keep the engine from flexing. (i didn't understand that the actual block itself flexed but whatever...) I have the oil leak and have tried just about everything so this was my last resort. Kinda sucks to fork out that $$$ for something you don't really want that bad.

damn no kidding. i am thinking of trying out the gotham brace.

i am not sure if it is the block flexing, but that is what i understood. i assumed what they were talking about in the thread i read was that since it is sections that they all have a little give and pry against the oil pan. anyhow, it is definitely sweet looking if nothing else. you have to get mirrors so people can admire it.

Some good news, guys. There's a good chance that the damage to my FC will be repaired by the next drive-in, or perhaps the one after that. Had to wait until after Christmas was over just in case I needed the extra cash.

For those that don't recall/haven't seen it, my FC has a huge dent in the fender, as well as a nice battle scar on the driver's side door.
