Hey I played a little racket ball myself back in the day.

I'll post a "how I painted my windshield trim" on the tech section this evening, I took a few photos as usual. Basically it was a steel wool, tape and newspaper job followed by isopropyl and rustoleum, but I learned a few tips along the way to make it easier.

The meeting was a lot of fun, very spontaneous with new folks mixing it up with the regulars and some new cars to admire. Imagine the chorus line we could have assembled if Gene, Cory, Greg the Elder, Mike S and Chris I had been able to make it? They were sadly missed.

I'm not sure all the OG@TA's fully appreciate the humor I've injected into the photos, however. They are awfully quiet this morning.

So let me post this disclaimer:

DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ OR SEE ON THE INTERNET (ESPECIALLY IF POSTED BY RAY GREEN). IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY A MISREPRESENTATION OF THE FACTS OR A DISTORTION OF REALITY.

Looks like a great meet last night. Sorry, I could not make it.

Billy, sorry I missed out on the heat sheild delivery. Are you planning to go to 8/16 meet? If so, I can pick it up then. I'll drop you a PM. I need a little advise on how to modify the CAI raditor pillar to support the AC condenser.

Billy I'm going out to put your heat shield on. Cathy is paypalling the $40 to your web site, I'll snap some photos and post them up.

I don't know his username here, but one of our members left his card at Jeffrey's. I've still got it and hesitate to post his name on here, but y'all please check your wallet, and if you're missing a card let me know.

So, Crit, cough up the graphics! Are they less than 19.5k? I don't want Doc having another heart attack.

Stu the diodes Crit had in his pocket looked different too, a little longer and not as big around. I wonder if different diodes give you different winks?

You coming down for the attack on Fort Yargo August 16th?

Well, I've given them one last chance to refund my money in full to avoid this court thing, but since they haven't yet responded, I'm doing the paperwork some time this week. I took it to a few body shops and each one literally laughed at the job...they couldn't believe how bad it looks and they said it's honestly the worst job they have ever seen done. I'm suing them for what I paid, the cost to file, the cost of gas to get estimates on repairing the damage, and most likely for what it'll cost me to fix it. Estimates range between $7,000 to $11,000.

I know I looked like hell the other night, but I was still in shock that this happened.

I won't say much, but there's a good chance they're going to be evicted, they'll lose their kid and they'll be really screwed with how much they owe me.

If anything, this situation just goes to show that if you **** with fire you're gonna get burned. They're toast.

On a lighter note, I finally found something in the apartment to eat and it smells good (it's in the microwave). Sweet.

BTW, if anyone wants detailed pics of what they did to my car...

Sorry Ray, but the graphics I was talking about are in my sig. I'm trying to find the worst ad on the site, and keep it updated in my sig. It just makes me sick.

Collin, I don't mean to be a gloomy gus, but I think you'll be hard-pressed to recover damages on an FC in excess of 3x the car's value. I'm just thinking about what a judge might think. What's the limit for small claims in GA?

$15,000 is the limit. I still cannot believe that they haven't responded yet or offered to refund my money after what they were told by an attorney yesterday. They know that if they refund my $800 willingly, it's as far as this will ever go and they will even get a legal document saying so. The only other alternative is this lawsuit, which is unlikely that they will win. Ah ****, I just remembered I forgot to pick up my last estimate from the shop today...haha...he called and told me it was finally ready.

It just really sucks...it rained super hard today and I was out smoking...I saw my car getting poured on so of course it looked really glossy and even when it was sheeting water off the surface...and it just seemed like such a shame that they chose to screw me over like this. It's a gorgeous color, and it would've been absolutely stunning had they done it properly...it just sucks...

What do those diodes make 'wink' anyways? Headlights, maybe?

And hey Collin, atleast your car sort of matches your pixel car now Dont be too upset though. It'll look good someday.

Diodes are only sized based on the voltage and current that they can keep from flowing the wrong way. They're basically an electrical check valve. By adding the diode, you enable a 12V signal that's normally on its way to your high beams (buried in the nose of the car) to take a second path to ground, which is through the headlight motor switch circuit. Because it's a diode, it means that you won't accidentally fiire the high beams when you only mean to flip the headlight switch. If it were a simple jumper, it would then turn your high beams on when you just wanted to pop them up for a long Canadian winter or a car wash.

Brett, we don't have flash-to-pass lenses and we're rarely quick enough with the switches to reach up and hit the headlight switch when another 7 is coming the other way. With the diode, you can just give the high-beam stalk a quick tug and it'll pop the headlights up and down, to say "hey". You can also hold the stick down, which will leave the high beam on while the lights cycle up and down.

Longer answer than you wanted, I know, but at least it's a complete one. BTW, the stripe on the diode is just there to indicate which direction is the "flow" direction, like the arrow on a fuel filter. Other sizes will work fine, as long as the orientation is the same.
