Old guys with 12As club meeting
The Romney camp is getting desperate.
What I want to know is, if he can see my tax returns, why can't I see his?
It's kind of like that puppy. You know?
Robert, we could use a little help here. Do you have a link to the puppy?

Not near enough to meetings and I may not even be old enough at 40 (or am I?).

Hopping into the thread so I can follow any new things you guys are finding. It's long, convoluted and a bear to search... so I'll just start here and see what happens.

Nice GSL!So i have more information on the "lost REPU in Decatur". The owner does not want to sell it. His plans are to get it running again and drive it.
I also found out there is a green REPU just down the street from this one that the owner drives to work regularly.
Ray, I just picked up something you might need for the white car. I'll bring it to the next meet for you
If there's jobs in Georgia, I'll be on my way. Otherwise I will be driving this year round anyway - getting ready to winterize it. Yeah, I know, but I made my tradeoff. If the economy ever picks up, I'll be able to put her to sleep for the winter. When I saw this one on eBayMotors, I had to save her.

This is out of place here, maybe, but since this is an active thread and it *is* a 12A SA/SB thread, I figured I'd put my feelers out on what aftermarket temp gauge you folks would suggest.
I'm form over function but want to retain the stock look as much as possible. Thoughts?

Taran, always room for another rotorhead at the OGTA meets and in this thread. If you get a chance wonder down to GA. Ray might be able to give you some info on an after market temp guage.
Here's what I do. The inexpensive sunpro gauge works well and looks good and it's mechanical so it's immune to electrical glitches. Mounting in the goose neck is easy and it gives an independent temp reading from the block mounted stock guage.

Hey Alex, if you don't have any OGTA business cards get some. That REPU owner and his daily-driving buddy both need one under their wipers. Can you leave them a note to see if they come out to Tilted Kilt in three weeks (Aug 7th)?
It would be great to get a couple of REPUs out to the next OGTA meet. Alex, if you don't have any OGTA card, we can arrange to get you some.
I think I hear the printers in Jefferson starting up already...

Between those two guys, me, Billy and Mark, that's 5 REPUs in the north-Atlanta area. That's crazy. Those are SoCal number, right there. Plus Roland has a customer in Lilburn with a slick blue one.
Nice. That's almost exactly what I'm looking at - my stock gauge is RIP (replaced TSU with little effect) and with the 'new motor' setting on the stock gauge figured I'd upgrade. That's exactly where I was thinking of mounting the gauge, too. I noticed a few folks talking about SunPro in a nice way around here and the cost certainly fits the budget.
Rather than the flange you have, though, I ordered this from ISC

RX7 1st Gen
Will mount in the upper radiator hose. It won't read squat from the gauge until the thermostat clunks, but that's kinda good too - lets me know the status of the thermostat by changing or not.
Ordered backup thermostat from Mazda because I don't want a 20 mile drive to get it when I need it.
Georgia? Might have to cruise down for peach season, finances permitting... but first, some routine maintenance. May even remove the rats nest before that haul. Want to find that double pulley first before doing that so that I don't get lawnmower belt slippage when I redline her. (Can you imagine I found an FB with an intact rats nest?!?!)

Can you imagine, 5 REPU's in the Twisted Kilt parking lot at the same time? Even three would end up on the front page of the AJC.
Taran I always like the way the stock temp gauge comes up slowly as the engine warms up, then the sun pro gauge on the back side of the thermostat housing rises to 185 degrees in about three seconds when the thermostat opens up. Kind of reassuring that everything is working normally. You will get the same readings with that hose mount.
Also I'm a fan of the stock look and the intact rat's nest The rats work with a properly tuned Nikki to return an additional 5 mpg over the stripped Nikki and you get smoother and tighter throttle response. Plus once they're cleaned up those rat's just plain look cool.
Mike, I need to know if Twisted Kilt is an Irish place or a Scottish place so I can run the next set of OGTA cards on the right color paper. What should it be, green or red?

Then onto... whatever shows up next...
Kilts are definately Scottish. I think the Irish wear knickers or something like that.
OK, I'll print the August 2012 OGTA cards on a Scottish Red background, should be interesting.
Taran you've got a diamond in the rough there, bring that sweet thing back to it's original glory and it will be pretty indeed.
As far as the high idle goes, either a vacuum leak or carb linkage issue. Check it over for obvious deterioration of the hose connections, if you don't find anything spray it with carb cleaner and listen for changes in engine pitch.
Then check the carb links, like the cruise control, cold and hot assist, etc, or just disable all that stuff to begin with (along with the AC. Who needs AC in Wisconsin?)
Dudes, check out what I got. My neighbor Bobbie made this about 30 years ago, when he was working on rotary engines. Anybody care to fetch a guess on what it does?
