Wow! Just started reading back on this thread and saw the cassette tape/ beer err, I mean cup holder conversation. Ray, I was at the mitty in 2010 and you gave me a ride to the beer store and I stocked up. I've had the car 6+ years but I've "known" the car for about 20 years.

I do have some Carpenters! Copied from an lp. Ralph Stanley, Fleetwood Mac, a little early nineties Pearl Jam, Nirvana etc, then lots of eighties county.

The previous post was apparently posting the picture, didn't think it was attaching. Here's another of the rear seat in the fb. 18 year old son driving, dad shotgun, mom in the back. It was . . . unexpected!

Has anyone had a this problem with their windshield wipers? When wipers are on high and cars is moving they slip about 4" to the left! Could this be a worn bushing on one of the wiper motor arms?

I'll try to be there at the meeting tonight.

The 5th Anniversary OGTA Meeting was another fantastic one, with new young blood and lots of RX-8s.

Here's the FB group, all the more pretty for their scarcity:

Greg the Elder's Purple FB, looking good as usual:

Dean the Deer Slayer's mean black '83 GSL:

Size: 178.5 KB

Jeremy's White FD was on the scene, more eye candy for the rotary inclined:

And of course Kristy's PrePro FC, which is, as she predicted several years ago, now attaining Antique status:

Here's the FE's, too numerous to count:

And of course the SkyActiv group (Flipper is currently returning 39.6 mpg overall, with the AC blasting):

At the Business Meeting we took on the serious business of who should get elected President and the clear consensus was it didn't matter, since whoever wins will be taken to the White House basement on Inauguration Day and 4 guys will explain to him how this are going to work, regardless of what he says, thinks or does.

Here's some of the Young Blood. That's Louis on the left and Dennis on the right. I have no idea where they came from or if they own a rotary, but if they don't I'm sure they will someday.

8-7-12 12A count

2 FB's = 2 12A's (Dean, Greg (the elder))
2 FC = 1.25 12A's (Kristy, Luis (white vert))
1 FD = .333 12A's (Jeremy)
4 FE's - .5 12A's (Holly, Marcos, Tommy, Luis)

4 Boingers = 0 12A's (Crit, Billy, Ray, Lee)

Total 12A count = 4.083

I make a motion that if you don't drive your rotary to the meet, you buy the beer.

All in favor say Aye!

( Don't blame me for this one, Miss Tina thought it up when she heard Ray had his 7 apart )

Great meet, wish I could have made it out.

Aye!

BTW, being the greenhorn and all I'm having a hard time figuring out the points system for scoring the meetings, as well as the meaning of the term "boinger". Urban dictionary has probably done more to confuse me than help. Urban Dictionary: boinger

I do like the way business is conducted in this group. I am also willing to be corrected as to my forum/thread etiquette. (I didn't realize those pics had uploaded twice - can I edit that?)

Aye! Where do we send you the bill Tim? You get to pay twice, since you didn't show up, and your rotary wasn't there.

Mr. Brown, a boinger is not a boner. A boinger is a car with a piston engine, which, unless it has SkyActiv technology, counts for 0 12A's.

Which brings me to my most recent great idea. Let's update the 12A point system so it's in sync with the current decade:

1 12A (SA or FB) = 3 12A's
1 FC = 1 12A's
1 FD = 2 12A's
1 FE = 0.5 12A's
SkyActiv's = 1 12A
Old Schools = 4 12A's

Whad'ya all think?

On another note: Tim, I owe you a beer. Are you going to be in the vicinity next Saturday?

You almost had me till I got to SkyActiv's getting the same as an FC.

I think you need to define again what a 12A equivalent is. It use to be something along the lines of how hard it was to keep these things running or get parts for them. In that scenario, FD and maybe SA's should get the most points.

I'm all for Mazda boingers getting points but not more than a Mazda with a rotary. Even if it is an 8.

An FD worth 2 12A's? And an FC worth the same as a boinger? What are you smoking, Ray?

On another note, I saw this on Yahoo. What a cool name!

Ray, your proposed 12A equivalent system does seem to be very popular. Reminds me of some politicians I know, but I digress.

If you change the system so that you subtract 1 point for SkyActiv, it might get more support.

Someone needs to buy this off Donnie and keep it in the OGTA family. This is in the For Sale sections.

^^ Agreed, and I am very motivated I hate that I have to sell it, but unfortunately it's the logical thing to do.

Thanks, Mike.

Nice car Donnie!

So it's agreed, we are switching to the new 12A equivalency system, right?

1 12A (SA or FB) = 3 12A's (3.5 12A's for SA's)
1 FC = 0.75 12A's
1 FD = 2 12A's
1 FE = 0.5 12A's
SkyActiv's = 1.5 12A's
Old Schools = 4 12A's

Remember Felix's birthday is coming up on August 13.

Isnt this whole points system based on how much work and/or how much these cars can break down? If so, how is the SkyActiv worth anything if it's a new car?
