Old guys with 12As club meeting
Got this email from the organizer of this meet at Importatlanta after RSVP-ing
Thanks for replying, we look forward to seeing you guys up there. We expecting in excess of a hundred quest or so. Right now we are planning to provide hot dogs, chips and drinks. We were unable to secure a pavillion, so the grilling will be done on the grill's supplied by the park. If a pavillion opens up by three we will move everything over to it. If you would like to bring something to throw in the pot, that is more than welcome. We will have a photographer up there to take photo's of both indavidual cars and groups of cars. We are planning several different shooting locations around the park, so shine up your cars and we will get them shot. Just find someone in a (green) Zero Garage shirt and they will help you find me.
We will be shooting at dusk also, once the sun starts to set and the sky glows orange.
look forward to seeing you there....

awesome meet! got back at 8:30, had a really great time, seeing old faces and meeting new ones. just have to remember to start getting return directions. should have asked those that left when i did if they were going back to 85. i stopped and asked what the quickest way was and ended up 20 exits farther up 85 then i wanted which added probably another 30 min to the drive time. hope the guy with the bent axle made it back alright, as too everyone else. talked quite abit with the guy with the repu. seems he's already had good results with a holley tbi setup on a rotary, but it was the 2bbl version. got me even more excited about getting mine going. but like i told him, it being my only car, it's kinda hard to do things to it and drive it everyday too. that rx3sp was just badass. i didn't see him take one off, but that engine wont last long running it with no air cleaner on it. and what kinda muffler was on the rx4? and i thought mine was loud. so did the rotary dominate or what?

Also now I know Tim's secret. Here's his recent post on the crossroads thread:
"So I played around with that 12A I picked up the other day.
Good:
I spun the shaft and the front rotor has good compression on all 3 sides of the rotor.
Bad:
The rear rotor has good compression on one side some on the next and none on the last side. I think an apex seal maybe. I did pump a ton of wd40 into the rear housing to help control the moisture and rust. I could see the rust on the rotor. Also the rear housing has a gouge in the lower lip of the exhaust port that looks like a bolt went by there. The guy I bought from mention it, but he described it like it was there before the rebuid. I also noticed in the rear intake some gasket looking material stuck in there. I have no clue what that will be until I open it up.
I have my doubts but I'm sure I have a good front iron, housing and rotor so at least half the engine may be good. I may crack it open this weekend if I get time."
Michael your Japanese Zero Tee Shirt is in the mail, congrats again on your long distance marathon win.
Next Meeting time for the September meeting? Anybody got any ideas? These weekends are working out pretty well.

thanx ray. u really didn't have to spend money to send it, just kept it til the next time we met up. only idea for the sept meet is it be alittle closer, provided nothing happens that keeps me from making it.
Jeremy has been out to meets regularly, just not with his car. Tim, are your cars running and on the road? And what is holding you back from making it out to meets?
Looks like you guys had a great time and good turn out. I would have gone, but I was up in PA for a rotorhead's memorial. Drove over 1700 miles round trip from Friday to Sunday night. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=765770
Tim I know what you are going to do with the 12A core.
You'll put a mild street port in it, add a big assed after market carb (Dellorto, probably), a 2GDFI and some plastic efans (two in case one quits whilst out on the road), move the alternator over by the strut tower and run down to WalMart for one of those fug ugly blue oil filters.
It will look kind of like this:

and probably get 26-28 mpg.
Dave and Elizabeth, what's the update on this diamond in the rough?

Holly we missed you, sorry to hear about your friend.
Any suggestions for the September OG@TA meeting date?
Shall it be Tuesday, September 2 at Jeffrey's in Suwanee? Or should we set up another weekend event for the benefit of the out-of-staters and in coordination with the OSJC folks?
I know that Kent was hoping to trek down from Virginia if we were planning to do something in September.
