Ray. As soon as you can hoist it out of the red one you can have it. I'll also need to hoist the 13B out the same day obviously.

Let me know when Quad, I'll come over and offer a hand.

Sure would be nice to see this one show up at a future OGTA. It's got a four cylinder rotary engine in it, primed and ready to paint, all for only $8000!!!

Collin, your new friend would look good in an B for sure.

Colin, stay out of trouble.

IF you want Ray, I can (hopefully) bring both out to you...

I installed the new harness on the SE, and the 12A will run (kinda). So I dunno. The new harness is kinda ghetto, because the fuel injector clips are old and broken, but I've got them on there for right now. Hopefully the intake manifold will be here today (I paid extra scratch to get it here, it better), and I might be able to carb the 13B to get it to run again. So I'll figure something out. Would we be able to do the swap in an apartment complex?

By the way, I've been up since Noon Wednesday. Why? We have inventory at work, and I just got home. Whoopie.

Ray I wasn't doing anything. I was sitting in a car attempting to order tacos when a guy with a brick charged at us.

Also, if anyone has some spare time today, and would like to help me install the carb on the 13B, I could use all the help I can get. I can do the carb by myself, but I'm not too sure on how to install the fuel pump and regulator off the red car....

Also its not a 79. $8000.00, must be a typo and meant $800.00 or they're smokin something down there.

So, the new harness didn't fix the GSL-SE then, huh? Did you ever find the short in your old harness to verify that it was the problem?

quite a bit off current subject but i was reading thru some of it and thought it would be some good reading for those that haven't seen it, or maybe considering their first build. i did post it in the new member section and maybe it'll get stickied. http://racingbeat.com/FRtech.engine.htm. make sure to check the other nav links for exhaust, ignition, etc.

now bout that 79 gsl. obviously it's at lease an 82, and it just cracks me up every time i see ads saying the engine is 4 cylinder rotary engine. i WILL send him an email on the correction.

Thanks for the link Michael.

Here's an interesting ebay, white 84 GSL just like the white one, but with brown leather interior:

I haven't gotten the new harness on a new battery to try and get it to fire. The battery is totally dead, and I got cut short on time yesterday. I plan on taking the battery out of the red one for a bit to try and get it to run.

The manifold and bracket are here! Woohoo! I'm like a kid on Christmas! I REALLY wanna bolt it on today, but one it's raining, and two I don't wanna tear apart the red one without a pro here to make sure everything goes smoothly. I really don't need two 100% dead cars. At least the red one kinda runs currently.

Anyone wanna be of assistance? Just call me 678-994-1545

I might even pay for the help =)

I doubt you'll have any takers on that last part, Kevin. Once someone collects money for rotary services rendered, they're no longer an amateur. As such, they are no longer eligible for the Rotolympics at Zoom-Fest.

Works for me Crit. Saves me money. =)

In good news, I bolted the battery from the red one into "Nightmare" (The black one's new name), and it runs! Kinda. I think I fucked up the fuel injectors when I reinstalled them after installing the harness. Easy fix though. I think a guy from the forums (I can't remember his name) is coming over to help. We might just install the carb on the 13B instead.

What are you going to use to plug the holes where the injectors used to be? You can use freeze plugs, but you won't want to do it unless you're sure you'll never put injectors back in those bores again. You'll have to do something, even if it's bolting the injectors and a dead fuel rail on top, as it'll be two HUGE vacuum leaks at the base of the manifold.

If you do freeze plug it, then I'd like to get my SE harness back. You'll need 16.4mm freeze plugs, which you can get way back behind the counter at Autozone or online.

And I'll be giving you the harness back regardless since I won't need it after the swap.

Good news, the 1st Gen self healing feature kicked in again and my power antenna is now working. You gotta love these 1st Gens. If I could just the self healing feature to work on that sick rotor.

2nd gens are taking over, dude. Actually, we've spawned our own club...YGTB! (Young Guys with Thirteen B's)...

Kidding...

Anyways, thanks to Crit I now have my kickin' new dual belt pulley on my alternator! Also, thanks to Billy for the sweet deal on it.

It amazes me how this club is more like a little rotary family.

Wanda is back up and running, at proper temps (for now). I feel better knowing I swapped the whole housing over versus just drilling out the bolts...which I may do some day. I coated the new (steel, sigh...) bolts in anti-seize...I do want to get some nice stainless bolts maybe...hopefully I'll never have this problem again. It feels SO good to be back in my car.

So, again, thanks to Crit, Billy, this club and this forum...I can put another notch in my experience stick and pat myself on the back for a job well done and diving into the project.

If anyone has some spare time tomorrow, I'll need some assistance with the installation of the Holley onto the 13B. I'll need to steal the Holley Blue fuel pump and reg off the red one, and install it on the 13B as well. I'll be home after 12 if anyone wants to help. I just don't feel confident enough to tear that stuff out and be stuck with two totally dead cars.

Anyone? I live right off exit 104 (Pleasant Hill) off 85.

Quad - be careful putting that 465CFM on the 13b. According to Racing Beat which I just read you need a 600CFM for the 6 port 13b. The 465CFM is not enough fuel. Just though you may want to know this before you have another rotary running on 1 rotor.

The Holley-supplied Racing Beat 600 CFM carburetor that is included in this kit has been disassembled and re-tuned at the Racing Beat facility to our specifications to optimize the power output for the 13B 6-port application. This carburetor features mechanical secondaries and a manual choke.
