Right next to Snellville and Lawrenceville, of course, deep in Old Guy territory:

It would be good to get a transplanted west coaster here Kent, you may be able to help us understand how some of those west coast rotor heads think (eg wacky and doc, etc, they sure have me fooled most of the time).
Crit you are making me want a REPU!

Not so fast, Ray. Me first. The more I thought about it, it would be a perfect replacement for the Dakota. The steep rear end with heavy springs and front discs means that it's got a 1400-lb payload capacity, which is a hair shy of a 3/4 ton. I had enough time during the auction to think this through, and got all worked up. I was going to drive the REPU for a month, and if it started every day and ran fine, I'd sell the Dakota and put the cash toward the wife's education. Meanwhile, I would actually enjoy my commute every day. What a concept!!
Sure the fuel mileage is miserable, but the insurance and taxes are cheaper, and the Dakota only gets 17 anyway. And if the truck didn't drive right every day for that probationary month, I could at least get my money back. Of course, my wife doesn't read the forum, so I can say that there's no way I'd sell the damn thing - just fix whatever was wrong.
So yeah, I'm looking for a REPU, and you're welcome to the next next one that comes around.

Rotary Freak
Hey all you Old Guys and Young Guys
I really wanted to make it to the big gathering of OGTA's in December, but I will be at the Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando for work and will not get back on the north side of town until about bon fire time on Saturday night.
I hope you guys have fun, and I hope to see you in January. I guess that will be the 8th, since no one will probably make it New Years Day.

Who could say "No" to this?
You are right Mike, this vehicle would raise my stature amongst my red neck neighbors. In fact neighbor Bobby called me yesterday and wanted to know where he could get a rotary engine to try out his idea about a hydrogen powered engine.
He says there is more energy in a gallon of water than a gallon of gas. I didn't know that. We got some real smart red necks out here!
I like your thinking Crit, in my opinion one of the strongest arguments going for rotaries is economics - that truck went for less than $3000 and it's a classic. You can't beat an old school rotary for reliable, inexpensive and fun commuting - ask me, I know!
Your Dakota gets 17 mpg, looks like every other pick up truck on the road and probably cost $20,000+, not to mention the insurance. Even if you could only manage 15 mpg in a REPU, it would make all kinds of sense. Tons of money for the wife's education.
So, let's find Crit a REPU, then let's get one for me.
Holly, we will miss you and please remember you need to be finding yourself a 12A by next spring if you want to keep your elected position as OGTA Secretary.
If the drought will just last a few more weeks we should have a pretty pleasant weekend.

The address is 3405 Jefferson River Rd., Jefferson, GA, 30549

It's about 55 miles north of Atlanta on I85, probably 2-3 hours from Chattanooga unless you take the scenic route through the mountains.

Guys and Gals:
Sorry I have been missing the meetings. I really enjoyed hanging out with yall that night. I'm selling the FB though. I can't spare the $$ to get it fixed and I would rather it go to someone that would want it. I'm just asking 600 for it or best offer. I know that the motor doesn't work but the body is in good shape.
At any rate thank you all for the help on trying to get it fixed. I know that I spent about 2 hours on the phone with Ray one night trying to get it running. Thanks Ray.
Send me an email some time. mark at mouseclone dot com.

Ray or Jeezus either of you care to come down on Saturday or some other time and have a look at it. If it is electrical then great. I still think that the front rotor housing is a lost cause. I'm willing to give anything a try though. Last time I got it running it ran like a scalded dog and then wouldn't crank again. go figure.
Let me know and as always drop me an email or call 770-833-8199

I'd love to Mark but I'll be in DC for meetings this weekend. You've got the right idea, if you can find someone familiar with the cars in your area and then persuade them with a case of beer you just might have that thing running for the Dec 8 OGTA meeting. If you can get it there we can do the fine tuning.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.

guys...it would be so awesome to finally get to one of the meets, but unfortunately this is also the weekend of finals for me, and unless i get to take them early, count me out...sadly.
Its also over a three hour drive from me right now as opposed to an hourish from the madres house the atlanta...
wretched.

It would be great to see you out-of-staters, we've had a surprising turn out by people who drive long distances to grace our meetings (especially Stu and the Tennessee Phantom, the guy with that black turboed FB). So if the weather is bad (unlikely here in the Georgia desert) or other things like finals get in the way, it may not be a good idea this time.
But I'm guessing there will be other chances, this weekend meet is an experiment and if it works we should have another next spring to kick off the season (at Mike's house this time).
Looking forward to getting together December 8 with you all winter driving Rotorheads!
