Hey Ray, I'm touched. Not too many people like that pic........but, I'm glad you got a kick out of it! Haven't you heard that good ol' NC is "cracking down" on the speeding? In a 5 mile streach of interstate today, I counted 6 State Troopers with people pulled over. I didn't even get to open the SA up! Good news so far, the axle seal leak seems to be fixed! Now I just need to fix the exhaust leak. I think I may have a spare altanater, dizzy, fan shrouds, clutch fans, and some other misc. stuff. If anyone needs these, let me know.

Ace, don't worry about the wax, we folks here in the Jefferson desert haven't been allowed to wash our cars since last April. And yes, Frank has one pretty red FC with a steering wheel to die for, literally (it's removable, great prank when out on 85 in traffic).

Austin, you can't go wrong with Mom's Mac and Cheese!

How many we got coming from up there in the north east, anyway? I'm counting 4. Stu, Mr. Bad83, tg and Michael. I'm trying to round up a few more GA SAs to be sure you Carolinians don't embarrass us Georgians again.

You guys watch out now for those fine officers out on 85 west of Charlotte, they were all over the place and I counted at least six cars pulled over last night. They got the whole thing posted at 60 mph to help balance the Carolina state budgets. I stayed within 10 miles of the speed limit all the way home, still only three hours from Charlotte to our house.

I'm thinking we might be breaking some more records this time!

Ray

Talked to the Madre and the Mac n Chees is a go. Though it will either need to be re-heated, or i can bring it ready to toss in teh oven and cook, as shes working saturday morning so it'll be made friday night and preserved for the rotards... errrr guys at the meet. Whatevers easier.

Just to warn you guys, i've attached a picture of my current daily driver.

I was forced to get rid of my beloved t2 after some unfortunate circumstances in the Hall County court system. But fear not, there is no loud exhaust or crazy vtec. Just a good handing daily that has a/c and a cd player

You are hereby banned from ever touching another Rotary. Ever.

The drought continues and today (Weds) is bright, sunny and warm - good omens for Saturday.

Hey Ray...

I can't reply to your pm (I need to post more???)

Wish I could, but I doubt it -- besides, I think I blew the motor in the rex, so I wouldn't be able to drive it anyway. Do you know of a (reasonable) mechanic that I can trust with rotaries?

80 in a 65, I-485. That is the usual speed on that road, just when you are the only car out there I guess it would be better to do 75?

Yeah thats the way it works. They won't touch you normally at just 10 over, its not a big enough fine and they allow for speedo errors and some fudge usually. Just ask any cop.

PM me or talk at me this weekend about tips on working the court systems for tickets.

i've found that if u take the time to show up for court, they'll usually reduce it to a 2 pointer and cut the fine by as much as half.

Here in Georgia there is actually a law that police can't ticket unless you are going more than 10 miles over the speed limit.

It also helps to be an Old Guy, they are kind of hard on the younger folks, especially the ones with long hair.

sgoss, if you can limp that buggy of yours out to Jefferson on Saturday we can have one of the Rotary Gods lay hands on it and make it right (they don't call him Jeezus for nothing).

Austin, don't worry about the honda, we have a special parking lot for boingers down in the horse pasture.

Looks like the Jefferson forecast is low 70s and sunny for Saturday, not bad if I do say so myself. Bring your cameras!

Ray

Dang Stu! I hate too hear that. It's usually cheaper to get an attorney, and the usually get the ticket dropped to inproper equipment or something. Still sucks though.

I've got a similar question, then, from a ticket in NC. I got it for 10 over, and the court date is in a week. I got TONS of letters from NC lawyers that want to represent me and get it thrown out. Is it worth doing? For 10 over, will it mean points on my GA license? What about insurance?

By the way, it's a $15 fine and a $120 court cost recovery fee.

Leeway 25 - 65mph speed zones is 11mph over. They're not *technically* supposed to bother you for anything that or less, but they *can*.

70mph zone leeway is 1mph.

11mph leeway applies to county officers.

Any state patrol officer or highway patrol officer can nail you for a 1mph violation if they are feeling particularly bitchy.

It couldn't hurt to ask! I got a speeding ticket in SC when I was a teeneager ( about 15 years ago), paid the ticket through the mail and never heard anything about it. Which was a relief, because I already had 6 points on my liscence when I was 17 . Insurance company almost cancelled me. Man I wish I had that money back.
