Old guys with 12As club meeting
#326
OK, let's be clear, the one and only December 2007 OGTA meeting is on Saturday, December 8 in Jefferson GA.
Timing is flexible but food will be served around 1:00 pm. Come earlier if you want to make a day of it. If you travel a long way and don't want to drive back on Saturday we may be able to put you up or if you are into cold weather camping we have plenty of room for that.
Zach it would be great to see you and you could visit with your silver GSL, my next Easy Rider (if the White One ever dies). Where are you going to school anyway?
Let's hope for a sunny and warm day, I'll get a big fire going and we can slip into the house if necessary.

The care is located around N Peachtree around 285 on the top end. Close to 285 85 junction on the north side.
I'm live on the 75 285 junction on the north side. The car is currently at my brothers house, and I would be happy to meet anyone over there at any time.
Ray sent me a PM and told me it could be the ignighters. I am really not sure, but it is an option that it could be that as well. If it is not firing that could cause the low compression. I don't really know thought.
So, Crit and Jeezus if yall care to this weekend, we can go and have a look at it. I should be able to buy yall a beer afterwords. My brothers roommate is a youth minister so no drinking on site.

Well, I've got several spare ignitors - their common source of failure, by the way, is loose screws. They use the distributor as a heat sink, so if they don't have intimate contact against the distributor, they'll burn up.
Everyone should take a second and check theirs, or at least find a spare and throw it in the glove box, along with a plug wrench and extra set of plugs. If you're super proactive, pull your ignitors off, clean them, put a little heat-sink compound from Radio Shack behind them, and screw them down tight with a lock washer under the head.
I've got time this weekend, so let me know what's good for you.

I can supply 3 J-109 S3 ignitors as well as an FC primary coil pack. If we have a lot of guys that don't have spare ignitors, it might not be a bad idea to get together and spread the love around a bit.

Good to hear that, Stu, it's always great to see that silver car of yours coming down the road.
Mark if Crit and Stu don't get you fixed up before the weekend of the 8th, I might be able to swing by and take a look next Thursday or Friday, Dec. 6 and 7. I work near Spaghetti Junction, not far from where your car is and if I can find some day light I'll come on over in the early afternoon. I too can bring an ignitor. Let me know.
Just a warning to the wise and generous, I used to have a bunch of ignitors, the results of lots of parts cars and a killing on ebay, I picked up eight of them for $15 a few years ago. But I've been handing them out like candy ever since and now I only have a few left. When I burned out my leading ignitor last Friday I realized I might need to be borrowing some back!
But seriously, this would be a great opportunity to exchange and move parts along, I have a bunch of stuff I'll be handing out as door prizes to those who can use them.
So let's have a rotary love in - a parts swap! If people want to give stuff away, that's great and if they want to sell things, just make sure it's a really good deal so that all those other rotor heads wished they lived in the friendly SE.

I have an issue this weekend that came up yesterday. My grandmother passed away yesterday morning. She was 91. It is a part of life's cycle and not much can be done about it. I have to travel to Valdosta this weekend for that.
I also know that it is getting close to Christmas time, but there is also a meet on the 8th. I'm not sure what time, but if yall wanted to try for next weekend, then maybe we could get her running and drive up to the meet together for a few beers.
Again sorry about having to put water on the plan this weekend. I was really looking forward to having some people that know more than me have a look at her. I could also have some time during the middle of next week or so if people have a tuesday or wednesday off. More than likley everyone works so that doesn't help out much.
Please let me know if early afternoon or something works better for yall or the morning before the meet.
darthrotary sorry to hear that. Keep fighting, I know the stuff that they give you is not the best thing for your body most of the time. If I don't see you before you go under the knife, my best wishes you come out of it safely.

Aw man, I am sorry to hear about your grandmother... May she RIP.
I do not know my schedule yet, but I get a random day of the week off and a sunday (this week it is friday) and next week I got Saturday (hopefully) and sunday off. I'll see if I can swing a tuesday or wednesday by them.

Oh and Wodihor, I have a spare setup here for your ignition... I got a dizzy and a homebrewed first gen direct fire (I had the spare parts, and no 2nd gen stuff), and that would ensure spark (Sam and I tested it). If lack of spark is the problem, this should fix it, or a 2nd gen direct fire install. I'll clean the surface rust from the dizzy and bring it down just in case.
Oh and guys, I got the day off! I will definitely be down there Saturday. I'll get together with t_g to see when and where he wants to meet up. After then, we can swing by rxtasy
I'll start sending out some PMs.

I live 5 miles from Road Atlanta and can easily access I-85, and know how to get to the QT in jefferson quite easily....
I don't have an Rx7 right now due to unfortunate circumstances but hopefully this week i will be getting back an 83 GSL i sold to a friend about 6 months ago.
Fingers crossed.
But i may show up anyway. If you guys promise not to throw stones at my Civic.

I'm sorry, but I was tied up today with all sorts of last-minute nonsense. Wodhor, feel free to call me tomorrow, as I really do want to help. You also might want to start a thread in the 1st gen area (if you haven't already) that will help troubleshoot. I don't have any FB parts outside of the ignitors and distributor that I'm using on a project car, but I can troubleshoot. I'm PMing you my phone number. If you start another thread to troubleshoot your car, please just let us know so we can follow along. I'm free all day tomorrow, the earlier the better, and you're welcome to call to 2am.

Yes 2nd gens are welcome but they only count for 1/2 of a 1st gen. I'm not sure about civics, it might help if you could find some rotary stickers or maybe one of those MazdaSpeed decals for your back window.
Here's directions, from an earlier post:
The address is 3405 Jefferson River Rd., Jefferson, GA, 30549
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...&zipcode=30549
It's about 55 miles north of Atlanta on I85.
Thanks for the forecast Michael, it's a ways off but doesn't look that bad, especially the 65 degrees part. We'll see how things play out.
Ray
Thanks
