In the next couple of weeks looking at getting a rebuilt 12a or rebuilding the old 12a (leaky seals) nothing internal just a bad coolant leak is all. If I can find a 13b I would go that route but money is tight at the moment.
Nuthin' wrong with rear drums.

I've never been a big fan of the taillights on an FB either. That's why I did this!

Installed new 3" V-band clamp on the turbo/downpipe. Took the car for a spin for the first time in months and terrorized the gentle cititizens of Philadelphia.

Love the confused looks on their faces do to a mid-eighties widebody with no emblems and a loud-*** BOV and wastegate.

Soooo the ******* shows up today in a bad mood and upset looking.. takes a long good detailed look at the car, complaining about everything. Took it for a ride and complained some more.. then he has the ***** to get out of the car and offer me all the money he brought with him.. only $2k.. WTF? We agreed on an already low balled price of $3400 which included the 2 sets of wheels and all my spare parts. I was pretty pissed, I ask why he even showed up with less money than we agreed on and he just avoided answering me. I had to tell him to leave, he had already wasted enough of my time. 5 or 6 phone calls, a few emails and he even ask me to remove the ad from CL. He said he's going to go look at a few other 1st gens for around $2k.. I know for a fact they'll need more work than he was bitching about on mine. That said.. mine is still for sale.. so if anyone wants to make an offer/arrangement let me know.

So I put my black dragon headlight kit up for sale. I want to keep it but I need money for other parts. Selling things are a lot harder than buying.

Went to the local monthly meet at Puente Hills Mazda; about a dozen very nice rotary examples on hand, plus free burgers and sodas. 85 degrees, in February - got sunburned, but still enjoyed.

Car's running like a fine swiss watch.

Oh, and it's 100% certain now that the flooding issue I've fought for literally years is a result of the carbon in the charcoal canister being 'used up.' Not clogged (passes the airflow test in the FSM) but simply so old and saturated that it will not absorb fuel vapor any more. That coupled with the high-volitility fuel mixes used today in CA is the culprit.

Proof: If I open the air cleaner & vapor line after shutting down, it does not flood. 10 times out of 10. If I don't do it, it'll flood or near-flood 8 times out of 10.

So, the project I've got half-done finding a way to replace the carbon in the welded-to-the-air-cleaner-cover canister becomes more important. As it seems likely that oil dilution due to constant flooding is what took out my oil rings prior to the last rebuild.

Right now the car is put away in the back garage with a cover on it but I put the ad back up on CL. I'm not taking any crap, I barely even want to sell.. but let me know if you need my contact info.. or just have them/you email me at jeg0024@yahoo.com

I know the car has some issues and will need a rebuild sometime soon (to be expected on a 35yo motor) but I told this guy everything and he was ok with it over the phone. Once he showed up he was in such a bad mood, I couldn't believe he only brought $2k with him. Even if he did bring enough money I might not have sold it to him, he was kind of an *******. Telling me that the motor lacked power and that with the way he drives it'll really need rebuilt in a few weeks.. he must drive like a dick.

Worked on installing new stereo. Got the right front speaker replaced (Alpine SPS-410 drop right in) and using the existing wiring both front speakers wired. Somehow I have lost the cable back to the antenna. I know it runs up the right hand side of the car and I see it turn up under the dash along the right side but I can't find the end of it. I unplugged it just a couple of weeks ago so I know it is in there somewhere. While trying to trace that I found that the trim piece under the glove compartment has a crack in it and piece missing that I never noticed before. I cleaned and put Armor All on the dash and door cards and used a leather product on the leather.

And I took it for a 28 mile drive. That is a pretty good drive since I only have a 36 mile range until I get the rest of the batteries in it.

Awesome driving! It seems you forgot that one hairpin turn--twice. Looks like some miserable fun.

Ripped into the 12a..... well everthing for the front of the motor is good rear rotor looks good, rear housing on the other hand has seen better days, also paid for 2 more 12a's one is suppose to have 1000 mile rebuild, the other is unknown mileage. At the least I should be able to make 1 complete motor. The motors are complete as well I beleave one is an 81 the other one is an 84. I cannot complain should be getting them in a couple of weeks sine the guy has to pull them.
