What did you do to your FB today?
Had someone leave a note on my car telling me he liked my car and he has a 1980 rx7. Tried calling his number, no answer.
Found 20 dollars today in the grass, looked like it had been there a while. Thought it was my lucky day, then my belt broke leaving me almost stranded. Luckily I was within walking distance to the house. I'll try and fix it tomorrow when I get a belt.
Would upload the picture of the note but it has the dudes phone number on it, and I only have my phone so I can't edit it put.

This stuff:

Takes heavily rusted parts like this thermospring and shaft out of an old air cleaner:

And simply by letting them soak for most of a day,
Makes them look like this:

No scrubbing, no agitating, no actions of any type, just soak, then rinse off with water. It's ph neutral, so you don't even need gloves. It's a targetted chelating agent, that only bonds to iron oxides. Amazing
I took a totally rusted old impact socket, and soaked only the bottom half of it, up to the bevel, overnight. Ended up like:

The stuff's the real deal, Maynard. Wish to hell I'd discovered it a year or so ago - or five!
$30 a gallon at Harbor Freight.
I now spit at Naval Jelly, feh!
Imma buy an old bath tub and 20 gallons of this stuff...soak my axle housing in it... and revive some old brake rotors... are bring some engine rotors and e-shaft back to life!

They have pics on their website of military maintenance using it to soak whole engine blocks.

Guess I'm going to HF tonight. I have plenty of rusty bits that could use some cleaning.
Last night my buddy and I moved some engines onto some flat dollies that I'd picked up from Orchard Hardware & Supply. They were prefect...the engines fit on them like they were made for them. They're quite stable and the engines are now very mobile. Maybe a little too mobile...will probably get some wheel chocks to keep the engines from rolling around if we ever get a good quake.
The dollies allow perfect access to the flywheel so you can bolt a tranny to it for doing compression testing (which was my ultimate goal last night). We hooked up a tranny to one of the engines, but unfortunately, I didn't have long enough starter bolts.

Before everyone goes out and buys a ton of Evaporust one quick thing to note. If you can't soak the part in it for a decent amount of time (several hours) then it won't work out very well. That is to say, if you're buying it to remove rust in your wheel wells or whatever you'll probably not have much success.
I tried several methods, including leaving soaked rags on affected body panels etc and while it did slowly work, it was VERY slow and require scrubbing with scotch brite pads etc... At that point it would easier to just sandblast/grind it off. At least in my opinion.
They even specify on their site that it's meant as a soak...

Pretty freaking upset with myself.
I bought a air cleaner for the plastic snorkel to replace the one cracked one I have on my car a while back.
I was going to restore it for practice so I can do the one on the car perfectly.
I just remembered I threw it out. "I'll never need this thing, so why keep it?" We the words I used when I trashed it.
*** me!

^I've done that more times that I can remember, only to need the part a year or two later and kick myself lol
A swimming pool full of Evaporust would be awesome. I've actually had a manual steering rack (FC) soaking in some for the last day, it's looking mighty fine too

I came home from school and there is a leak in my fuel line in the Rx7. I don't know if someone poked a hole in it or it was a natural split, which I highly doubt. I now have half of what was left in my tank all over the driveway, which was less that a quarter tank. This has ruined this weekends plans.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I might also use this to put the car in garage instead of the SUV.
That is a shitty way of looking at this situation.
Update on tonight drama:
My gas tank is now completely empty and I don't have a dime in my bank account to fill it up.
And we were able to locate the spare key. The spare is brand spanking new/old and it's a little hard to get into the locks. We were able to open the car up and the original isn't there. :/ I have no idea where it is.

The leak is coming from the line leading away from fuel filter. It's the line that goes to the carburetor.
I'm pulling it off tomorrow and replacing it. Will post up pictures and see what you guys think.
The line is only a year old, and I wouldn't think Auto Zone sold completely **** products.

I finally got to take a look under the can and the line is cracked in several places. -_-
Is there a better replacement line? Maybe something OEM?
I went back to the junkyard and bought the Suspension Technique front and adjustable rear sway bar for $19.95 each. I cant believe that the front bar is much smaller than TMC front sway bar. No wonder there is no need to enlarge the hole on the factory front sway brackets. I also picked up set of front suspension from a GSL-SE to add to my pile of RX-7 junks lol. on the downside, I ran out of time to grab the stock carb/manifold, rats nest and engine harness. I have been staying away from non-smog exempt first gens but its like a magnet, I cant resist lmao
