If you can see an object, it's reflective enough for lidar to work. You might cut their range back a bit, but nothing we can effectively paint is 'black' or 'flat' enough to prevent a usable infrared bounce at the distance cops ticket at.

Grabbed my new rims today.

Commence Operation Restoration!
Already pulling the bolts off to get thrown into my tumbler for a couple days then I'm soaking them in a metal blackener solution.
Rims will be soda blasted then powder coated in golden rod.
Lips will fixed and then polished to a mirror shine.
Until you can paint your windshield (& your face) with it, it's not going to matter a hell of a lot.

True..... but color and texture do make a difference. Darker colors result in much shorter range. The flip up headlights help alot as they serve as excellent reflectors ...when they are up that is. Alert drivers in dark cars can often figure out they are a target prior to the time a reading is obtained.
Painted my engine today
Well, I started to paint my engine today that's out of the SE. Still have to detail the dizzy and paint the "Mazda 13B" part. But its a start for the "killer b".

Note: we have low profile cars with pop-up head lamps, coupled with dark & flat paints, we have a shorter distance to detection. But, in the end, a smart cop will not set up in an area that will give you plenty of time.
However, radar is a different story. Now you need to redesign the front end including the window and mirrors, and get some of those "lockheed" materials.

Today I drove the car around a bit with open headers. Then I welded up the merge pipe from 2.5" to 3" so it should make decent power still. I can't wait till tomorrow when I will finish the exhaust and get her in a quiet ride lol

Progress on this project:
I got the first pair of samples back today. These were done using the "Vacuum Aluminum Metallization" process. They are also darned hard to take good shots of once they get shiny!

These pix are enlarged quite a bit (about 12x), but as you can see, they came out quite shiny but not morror-smooth, even though the underlying plastic was hand-smoothed with 2000-grit sandpaper.
Viewed fullsize they look pretty decent at arm's-length, but up close they actually look rather old or antique. They also cost me $24 each to have plated.
I'd give them a b-minus; I'd use them on my car if I didn't already have (or couldn't find) better.
What do you all think?
Sometime next week, or possibly the following week, I should have the Spectra-chrome treated parts back. I'm still looking for a place that can do actual chrome, too.

I continued my shopping for new suspension bits, that I determined I need after the last autox event....with money I dont have... while contriving new ways of making super easy money

I got the brown one's exhaust done. Gonna listen to it today. The blue one got a parts swap including carb and manifold, spark plugs and wires, and will receive an o2 bung today.

Since you're like 12,000 miles away from me, dude, I'll take that as a compliment.
Thanks; they don't look all that bad in person, they're just not as smooth as the originals. I'm hoping to see a better finish out of the other processes.

Maybe DD can go over to the
