Ok I get the classic/antique thang but I'm not doing that yet. It has mileage restrictions and usage restrictions ( unenforced from what I gather) but still.

Even better if I find a 1979 tag (it doesn't matter where it came from or what it came from) I don't ever have to tag it again. Effectivly removing the DMV from the equasion.
I'm less than 20 miles from living down there. Its tempting to move.

Again with the antique thing!

DD you need to get out of Cali NOW!

Sound like a typical inspection for me, gotta love non-emissions counties. Goes exactly how you described, lol.

On topic, got my KOSO duel EGT yesterday. Ordering the wideband today, after that its a 13b manifold for the Camden then install.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the beach, the mountains, the climate, the paycheck, my friends, and the mortgage, there's not much holding me here... heh.

Following up on a wild-hare decorative idea that struck me the other night. Will post pix if it works out as well as it looks in my mind.

Got her back on the road and aligned it to "attack mode" specs for next weeks autoX event, now gonna hafta spend the rest of this weeks re-tuning my fuel again and tuning the suspension.

I did notice that even tho our cars steering is pretty much truck parts, the geometry is actually executed quite well. If you even examine it while the suspension is loaded, the inner tierod joint is inline with the lower control arm pivot point, as well as the outer tierod joint being pretty much inline with the ball joint. Thus, when I went from +1 to -3.5 degrees of camber, my total toe only change by .1 degrees from when I last aligned it 2 years

coilovers ( I just had to paint them damn near perfect match to Mazda Blue )

took one of my 7's to the scrap yard and for $60. it was a shame it had only 30,000 miles on the odometer and a brand new windshield with recent paint and no rust and a very straight body but i had nowhere to store it and nobody around here wanted it

Replaced the worn side emblems and painted the 3 faded wiper arms. Cleaned up the wiper blades. They came back to life. Wiped off the leather honey that soaked in for 36 hours and am amazed how good the seats look. It really gave the brown leather a rich look. I wanted to eat them but did not.

Today I freed a set of RB presilencers from a set of flanges welded on by a previous owner. I had to cut through the welds with a cut off wheel. One of those big 14" abrasive discs that makes a lot of noise and a lot of dust.

Then once I got the flanges off, I looked through the perforated tube and saw empty space! Oh no! The packing must have disintegrated. I've seen this before. So I scored around the shell with the chop wheel. I start to slide the core out and encounter a lot of resistance. Turns out there is still some pot scrubber material left. It had all gotten compressed forward. In both! Ok, that's less work for me.

I have some new pot scrubbers from a dollar store. I wrapped the exposed core with one. Then another. Ok, that should do it. Two per silencer is what it took to make them happy. Push the core back in and viola. Just a quick weld around the shell and I'm done! Fully packed presilencers. These will go under the MG as part of a full long primary system.

I also freed up eight 90 degree u-bends from an exhaust system I cut up from a friend's rotary baja that went turbo. That should be just about enough bends for the MG's exhaust. Let's see, the header takes four 90s, the center section has to transition over to the driver's side so that's four more 90s. There's my eight. This is all in front of the rearend. I think I'll collect them here into 2.5".

Who was it, Rotary MG or something like that, who did a long primary in his Midget but did it above the floor? Yeesh.

Covered myself with urethane dust, using a grinding wheel to cut the diameters of my emblem inserts down to fit in my existing rotor-shaped door emblems. Little paint, little clear-coat, and ready to install tonite.

Dropped a pair of my replacement door handle trim rings off at a place that claims they can vacuum metallize them for $20 each. Should have those back in a week.

Shipped another pair off to the SpectraChrome shop. Don't expect them back until the end of October, though.

Gotta go tank up the Beastie tonight in preparation for the drive to Willow Springs on Saturday.

Finally decided to post on this thread.
Earlier this week
New wheel bearings
Blasted and painted brake "hats" (semigloss black) I think there called
Painted caliper mounts( grabber green)
Rubberized underbody
Bought an FC for upgrade parts, but I'm thinking about getting it running instead

Today (as of 2.5 hours ago) I started polishing the short block and readying it for paint( aluminums getting polished and the irons are getting painted "Rarity purple" )

Tomarrow ( once again as of 2.5 hours ago) try and solve the no spark issue on the FC ( thinking of taking the 6 port and running that instead of the 12a in my 85) along with finishing polishing and painting hopefully also painting some other underbody parts.

Bummer; I'll miss seeing you there!

Last step. These turned out OK for prototypes, but I want to do a set with proper chrome instead of the metal leaf overlay I had to use due to time constraints:
