MrFC3S, tell us more about the problem. What happens after it dies and won't restart? When you turn the key what do you hear, what does the car do or doesn't do?
Guys if you mod an alternator to put out 140 amps will the existing wiring harness and standard battery handle the load? What are you using the extry 70 amps for? What are the extra power demands on the battery?
Steve, tells us all about your training, how is it going? How is married life? How to y'all like Statesville? Are there any other 7s in the area? Come on, you've left your family and freinds and you have to keep us informed about what's happening? Got Sears to put out a Craftsman line of rotary engines? You and Dave have got to do better about writing and letting us know these essentials.
Phil has started planning for the next Deals Gap event in April 2006, you'll have to start getting Jimmy and the Leverette boys up for the April drive. We're all planning on stopping by Statesville and picking you up the Thrusday or Friday we make the trip up.

Yawn, what a slack meet last night was. Where the hell was everyone? It was Doug and Beth, Gary, Perky and me and a really nice young foreign couple who drove all the way from Winston-Salem to check us out in their '87 Turbo. So we had 2 eights and 3 sevens.... called it a night around 9pm.
We're thinking (ok at least 5 of us) that we ought to do a meet sometime at a pool hall or something and have a RRDI Shootout or something. Gary mentioned he may be able to get use of his apartments(?) recreation place thingy or worse case senario I just happen to know where a few bars are, go figure.
Anyways, if you haven't read about it or know about it there is a little old event going on at VIR this coming Saturday and it looks like a few of us are going to either meet up there or caravan up to it. Sign your butts up and come have some fun. How can you turn down food, racing and a chance to go putter around a real track?

Thanks for the nice words Turbo II. I still had fun. It was nice just to take a drive on a pretty day like that. I'm really gonna try my best to make it to VIR. Anyway, homeboy at home was like, so how many cars did you see there at the meet, 30 or something. I was like "umm i think it was more like just 10 or smtn.' didn't wanna tell them I missed local meet for 8 rotors, but that's not the point. It was worth it all the way. Always a pleasure to meet rotary owners in person.

Sorry I missed the meeting, I am in Tennessee and couldn't make it back in time, 10 hour drive. I am sorry they missed their local meeting, but am glad to know there is a group of rotary owners up in the Triad area. But the good news is that I got the color proof for the T-shirts today and gave the go ahead to the screen printer to proceed with the work. Here is a copy of what they sent:

There will be a black and white logo on the front and a full color logo on back. They should be ready by the end of the week and I'll be picking them up next Monday if all goes as planned. Please comment and let me know what you think.
Just found out on the Deals Gap thread that Phil Sohn is posting that the date for the Deals Gap Rotary Rally '06 has been set for April 7-8-9, good news now we can start making our plans.

Hey everyone! I don't know if you remember me, I've been laying low for a while. I've got the blue first gen that went to the first GRR of NC. I wanted to come up for another meet, when is the next time everyone hangs out? Every sat. or every other sat? I'll be coming in my newly acquired 93 CYM! Wahoo!

I had another good HPDE at the Rock. Nothing too dramatic this weekend, but this video had some good examples of how a bad line around a track can slow you down. I was having to feather the gas to keep from overtaking him illegally. The owner was a good sport though. Pretty car too.

I had to relent to two drivers that were just outright faster than me: and RX-8 in Hoosier slicks and an Integra Type R in DOT race tires. I could blast them in the straights, but my street tires were no match for their grip. I look forward to what the FD can do in race rubber.

Techovice, is that the old track from back in the '70s? If it is we use to test there when I worked with Steve Coleman from Team Highball for a while in 74-76. He helped develope the infield track there and we were able to get the keys to the place so to speak a couple of times. We were running a Formula Ford, an old GT car (borrowed from Amos Johnson so we could test it for Road Atlanta) and an AMC Gremlin back in those days. We even took Steve's '67 Caddy for a spin around the track one time, talk about a boat ride. Man I had forgotten how banked those turns were. You can barely walk up them.
Coleman is still around. I think he will be at VIR this weekend. Ive got a couple of team highball artifacts like peripheral port rotor housings, Team Highball shirts and some other goodies. The Team Highball GTU 2nd gen that won the Daytona 24 MANY times is currently being restored for Vintage racing. I believe it will make its debut at VIR soon...very cool stuff. Amos is into boats now, he is in Florida. Dennis Shaw builds our race motors! Its a small world!!! Carl
Carl your not kidding, it really is a small world. Check this out, after my stint there about a year later I ended up dating a girl for a couple of years whose aunt (I think it was) married Amos, her name was Bunny and she had a son named Whit who use to hang out with us. Then a few years after that I married another girl who use to date Shaylor Duncan who worked with them, among numerous other teams around the country. She was living at his old "highrise" in Apex and going to State when I met her. He use to drop in from time to time coming off the road so I got to go back out to the shop a couple of times again. Speaking of Dennis, was it he who had the Easy Wider car? Can't imagine why that car sticks in my head....doh! Anyways, a few years ago I had a small vintage guitar shop downtown and a woman came in with her son. We ended up talking quite a bit since they came in a few times before they bought a guitar and come to find out she was married to one of the guys that had been there. I want to think it was David McNair. Man I would love to see Steve again. My best friend Mike Leonard turned me on to Steve. We use to have such a blast hanging out at the shop or at Steve's little "garage" off Leesville Road. There was also another guy who worked with Steve during that time, I can't think of his name to save my life but I can see his face plain as day... damn getting old sucks. Anyway, it's funny how things come around again sometimes. Now here I am back into cars and people and stuff start popping up! Man I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting you guys and anyone else who shows up from the past this weekend!
hey guys, i know i havent been around in a while, but i just wanted to pop in an say hi.
since bert ignored me on the Deals Gap thread I though I might reintroduce myself. My name is Josh I have a single turbo 94 FD, that i built myself, and is miraculously still running 9 months later.
anyhow, hope things are going well for everybody.

Josh is it? Always glad to have a new rotary owner join our group. We used to have a guy named Josh in the group, he was a really nice guy, contributed alot to the group, and he also owned a beautiful, black FD that he was always tinkering with. He really loved his car and enjoyed being part of our group then for some unknown reason he just dropped outta sight, quit posting, rarely showed up a the Drive-Ins. Everyone really misses him, and Christina really misses his car. If you find the time you should come out to an RRDI, that stands for Raleigh Rotary Drive-In, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, during daylight savings time we meet at 6:30 PM but when the standard time returns we move the meeting up to 5:30 PM for the extra daylight. Come join us, we'd love to meet you:0)

no no dyno. still havent been able to get her tuned. last time we strapped her down to the dyno for a base run, the TPS was installed wrong it bogged in 4th at about 6500RPM, blew black smoke out of every exhaust orifice available, and basically scared the crap out of Rick, Jeremy, Alex, and me.
i was trying to get her down to Rotorsports, but it seems like they arent going to fit me in anytime soon. i might have to look into other options.
rob told me about a place down in charlotte that is going to do his. i was waiting to see how they did with his before i took mine down.
my *** dyno, as well as some impromptu runs with friends, tells me somewhere around 400RWHP. that is by comparing their weights and dyno #s vs. results. not the smartest way, but it gives me a ballpark.
I am hoping to break 450RWHP once she is tuned, or conversely going with something smaller than the 63mm, and stay around the power i have now. (gotta make that decision before the tune)
