Then a few years after that I married another girl who use to date Shaylor Duncan who worked with them, among numerous other teams around the country. She was living at his old "highrise" in Apex and going to State when I met her. He use to drop in from time to time coming off the road so I got to go back out to the shop a couple of times again. Speaking of Dennis, was it he who had the Easy Wider car? Can't imagine why that car sticks in my head....doh! Anyways, a few years ago I had a small vintage guitar shop downtown and a woman came in with her son. We ended up talking quite a bit since they came in a few times before they bought a guitar and come to find out she was married to one of the guys that had been there. I want to think it was David McNair. Man I would love to see Steve again. My best friend Mike Leonard turned me on to Steve. We use to have such a blast hanging out at the shop or at Steve's little "garage" off Leesville Road. There was also another guy who worked with Steve during that time, I can't think of his name to save my life but I can see his face plain as day... damn getting old sucks. Anyway, it's funny how things come around again sometimes. Now here I am back into cars and people and stuff start popping up! Man I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting you guys and anyone else who shows up from the past this weekend!
I picked up an SA off him a couple of years ago. Now he is building or at least talking about building a SpecMiata. I know Bunny Johnson..she is very nice. I think your talking about Grover McNair, he now has a shop called "McNair Performance" off Glenwood. His ex-wife, Karen has a son named Mason who I think is about 10 or 12 now, I dont really remember. I dont reccomend you getting any work done at McNair Performance. Ill just leave it at that. I know a lot of the team highball history and people who worked there. Dennis Shaw may have had the Easy Wider car.. I havent ever heard that before. Now he is buidling a AMC Spirit for road racing, a copy of one of their old cars. If you want send me a PM and ill shoot some names out for you.. Carl

We are talking about Bob Lui and he knows what he is doing. However, I agree with you though on this: If someone does not know how to use the equipment and understand the air/fuel dynamics then they cannot tune the car. There are no poorly tuned cars. They are either tuned or not. Tuning is not black magic or an art. It is a methodical process. Street tuning is not the best method. Aside from being dangerous, a huge waste of time and fuel, it is also imprecise. It can be done that way, but the dyno can offer constant loads for real precision work.
I would never insult Bob by comparing him to one of the more incompetant mechanics at a dealership. There are some good ones, but they are difficult to find. Bob is good people and he is local.

Steve Kan has one of the best rep as a tuner that is why I will be letting him tune my car.
RRDI members be thinking about the Deals gap trip, I / We have booked the MANSION. Looks like it sleeps 18 but the person we made reservations with said 24. I should be getting the package in the mail.
How damn cool is that ? We can bring our significant others. It should be a blast. I will get with Bert and Greg so we can make a list, Im thinking it will be about $100.00 per person + food.

We all know that a good tuner can get a couple of extra HP out of a good tune. Not trying to pick a fight with ya.

That is the one I'm getting. It is definitely in need of some tender lovin'
What did you think about the car as far as engine health? It sounded pretty healthy to me (besides the face that the exhaust is completely shot), but then again, I don't really know jack about rotaries. I already got a new fender lined up to fix the banged up one, and paint won't be an issue. I figured I would be buying an aftermarket exhaust and suspension anyways, so that isn't too big of a deal.

My clutch is slowly getting here, Paypal is soooo gay. It took it like a week to "verify" my account. So I had to wait for that to go through. Hopefully, it'll get here on schedule and my car will be fixed in the second week of Nov. I just went by to check on it (it's at my dad's), it's so friggin dirty and pooped on. I'm going to go by Wednesday on my day off and pressure wash it and give it the whole shebang on the outside, put some wax on it and what not. Oooh I can't wait. I really want her back.
Alright...this is David on Stina's account...still no update on VIR meeting times? Just got back from racing in Fayetteville and we're pooped, going to bed now. If someone would please call Stina and I to let us know when we're meeting up for breakfast in the am it would be GREATLY appreciated...Bert? Could you call us? This will be my last Rotary event
Help me make sure we get there on time please, lol
Thanks

i am stoked about the mansion. how much would it break down to per night if we got 20 people?
that p1auto miata is the shizzle! that is the kind of miata i would be proud to own, if i could only fit into it with the top up.
on another note the 7 is running like a beast with all this cold air. a combo of the cold air and cold asphalt, let me spin tires through first, second, and into third if i dont regulate the throttle. i couldnt imagine what she will be like with a tune.
