He really loved his car and enjoyed being part of our group then for some unknown reason he just dropped outta sight, quit posting, rarely showed up a the Drive-Ins. Everyone really misses him, and Christina really misses his car. If you find the time you should come out to an RRDI, that stands for Raleigh Rotary Drive-In, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, during daylight savings time we meet at 6:30 PM but when the standard time returns we move the meeting up to 5:30 PM for the extra daylight. Come join us, we'd love to meet you:0)
Glad to see Josh re appearing. We all miss that guy with that sick black FD! I hear Stina drool over it all the time! I think she wants to cheat on me with your car Josh! lol, hope you can make it to VIR, it will prolly be the last meeting I can make it to for the next 6 to 7 months or so. Looking forward to the meet. Later all!

Thats like saying take your 7 to the dealership, they know how to work on cars. Its not the machine they use, its persons knowledge running the machine.

Guys if you mod an alternator to put out 140 amps will the existing wiring harness and standard battery handle the load? What are you using the extry 70 amps for? What are the extra power demands on the battery?
Steve, tells us all about your training, how is it going? How is married life? How to y'all like Statesville? Are there any other 7s in the area? Come on, you've left your family and freinds and you have to keep us informed about what's happening? Got Sears to put out a Craftsman line of rotary engines? You and Dave have got to do better about writing and letting us know these essentials.
Phil has started planning for the next Deals Gap event in April 2006, you'll have to start getting Jimmy and the Leverette boys up for the April drive. We're all planning on stopping by Statesville and picking you up the Thrusday or Friday we make the trip up.

Everything in Statesville is good. School is awesome. I'm finishing up phase 1 this week. We have been learning about building a shortblock. Measuring out crankshafts and cams to make sure they are not out of round or tapered, measuring to make sure you have the proper oil clearances, calculating compression ratio's, and valve timing. It pretty much goes over everything about an engine. Most of it is for stock configuration, but still fun stuff. Everybody knows me as the rotary guru. The teacher is a very knowledgeable guy who respects the rotary, he has asked me quite a few questions about them and has seemed pretty interested in them. He actually had a rotor and housing that he pulled out from under the desk when i started making comments about them when I first started the phase. Everybody else was pretty confused at what it was. Most of the guys there are V8 guys. You would expect that though since it is connected with NASCAR. There are however 4 or 5 other 7's that I have seen up there. One is a red FD from at Atlanta. Very nice car with a GT35 turbo on it, said it should be posing about 430 at the wheels. Also another guy that has a clean AE, but I haven't had the opportunity to talk to him yet.
Yesterday we went out to the chassis dyno and watch them dyno a car. It put down 730bhp and 500lbs of torque. We were standing about 20 feet from the car, it was insane how loud it was. It literally made the ground shake.
Dave is no longer the owner of a running 7. He sold the white TII to a guy down in Columbia SC. He's now driving around a beater Honda, he got a good deal on it though so I guess it alright.
I did get my alternator back yesterday. It seems to run better. However, at idle it only puts out like 12.5 volts because of my smaller crank pulley. It quickly gets up to 14v though. The alternator shop seemed to do a good job.

Fastest way I know from the RTP area is NC-147/Durham Freeway all the way to I-85 South, to US-70 (exit 170, next exit after DF) then stay on US-70 (not Business US-70) until NC-86 in Hillsborough. Hang a right on NC-86.
Once on NC-86 you can crank it up a bit, but watch for turning traffic. NC-119 is just over the crest of a hill past a school.
FWIW, you will probably want to get there before noon since lunch could start anytime after 11:30am. And lunch time is when the track tours are conducted.

Last post on our forum indicated that they will try to meet up at our usual meeting place in front of I (heart) NY Pizza in Durham at the intersection of NC-54 and NC-55 ~10:45am or so. Maybe sooner.
I'll already be at VIR and will have completed two or three track sessions by that time... It's gonna be a busy day for me!
Also an update. I'll be running #14 and not #94. My fault for registering late...

Steve good to know you're teaching them about rotary engines.
Steve Kan has one of the best rep as a tuner that is why I will be letting him tune my car.
RRDI members be thinking about the Deals gap trip, I / We have booked the MANSION. Looks like it sleeps 18 but the person we made reservations with said 24. I should be getting the package in the mail.
How damn cool is that ? We can bring our significant others. It should be a blast. I will get with Bert and Greg so we can make a list, Im thinking it will be about $100.00 per person + food.
