But then, consistently setting aside money is easier said than done.

yeah, people say cops in my area are dicks about tint but one night when i got pulled over i didnt have my pass. side window down and the cop went to that window for some reason after he talked to me on my side but he didnt say any thing and my windows are tinted at 15% all the way around. it helped ALOT this summer with heat. and with the bubbleing you get what you pay for i pay top dollor for my back window so i wouldnt have to worry about the bubble.
tint doesnt reduce the ability of the driver to see, very much at all. cops just dont like it because you cant see into the car. i have 5% in the rear and 20% on the sides. he gave me a ticket for the rear, which i suppose is pretty damn dark. to be legal though you have to be at 35% all the way round. which is basically no thicker than fogging the windows with your breath. its all about them not wanting to get their asses shot. as a mostly law abiding citizen(ie i would never shoot a cop) it is irritating to have them harass me about tint. especially some hillbilly barney fife cop that only did it, because he didnt like the way my car looked/was jealous/didnt have anything better to do. however, i suppose i can see why the law is in place. though in florida you can black the back window out with krylon paint, and i dont think they have more shot cops than we do, but whatever.
anyhow i wont be removing my tint any time soon. it is a part of the look of my car. i thought about going with a 20% on back which is still darkish but not as bad as 20%.
about johnys car i think it would look good with some tint, most cars do, but i think he is keeping it simple, and of course it is his ride. for about $200-300 you can get a professional job that will not bubble, and 35% will guarantee you never get a ticket.

I'd just pay the ticket if I got pulled and continue on my merry way. I'm not changing my car just because some podunk cop is mad my car's cooler than his crown vic.

Hey everyone. If you didn't make it out to VIR for the RBQ last saturday, here's your chance to get out there this weekend. And, if you'd like to be a worker, you can get in for free! Yep FREE!
The North Carolina Region of the Sports Car Club of America is looking for more volunteer workers. They need a bunch of people for all sorts of things, like flagging, pit & grid, etc. All you need to bring is yourself, a willingness to learn, and a love of sportscar racing.
Contact Chuck Stanley at Sccafoolishrat@earthlink.net and tell him that John Uftring told you to contact him. Chuck is the Flag Chief and can explain the details. But, know that if you do end up flagging you will be in the second best seat in the house. The NCR will be providing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and post race food to you for free. There are also worker give-aways, plus I believe that NCR will even provide a complimentary temporary SCCA membership if you come out to flag.
Don't be afraid to come out and play. Everyone who is an SCCA worker started where you started. We will teach you everything you need to know abaout where you will be working. You learn on the job, and have fun at the same time.
Send the email to Chuck ASAP, and register at the NCRSCCA webpage:

I believe that you'll need to be at the track before 7:00am on Saturday to get the free breakfast and to make the morning flag meeting to find out what corner you'll be working on. You will also want to bring some warm clothing and comfortable boots/sneakers. Lighter colors work best, please no black, red or bright yellow if possible. The weather is supposed to be awesome.

Thanks for listening!

If you could pm a contact to get more info on the when's where's and how's that would be AWESOME! Thanks

The "next" North Carolina Region racing event is in March.
I don't know about the complimentary SCCA Temporary membership, that's being used to try to get more help (and members) this weekend. That said the temporary membership is just $25 and gives you all the benefits of a full membership for short period of time (like 90 or 120 days, IIRC). Being a member allows you to be a flagger or other worker, and doing that gets you in to the SCCA events for free.
PM me for more info.

Seems like after the the Rawley cop found you in gross violation of NCDMV's vehicle illumination statutes you have made the top 10 on the LE Hit List. Everyone wearing a badge is looking for your FD. Yeah, they are all jealous and a little scared of that car and want to remind you who really owns the road.

Luv ya anyway
