Charlestown 1986, first shots fired, not a bad pedigree James!

But let's be historically accurate.

The South Carolina militia started the war by bombarding the United States Army at Fort Sumter:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Fort_Sumter

Not a good move by Southerners then and I wouldn't recommend trying it again.

But you can't beat that good old Southern Culture:

Especially the Early '70's version, loaded with bell bottoms, attitude and hair:

Robert, did you go to any of their concerts back then?

So, a bunch bored good ole southern boys (the South Carolina militia) were in a bar, got hammered and instead of fighting over a woman, fired cannons on Fort Sumter. "Well it sure seemed like a good idea at the time" in "support your local sheriff!!!"?? That's a more interesting version than the sanitized version taught in thr 5th grade. But 1986? I thought the U S bombed libya or something that year.

We must also note that Halley's Comet paid a visit during April 1986.

A powerful Omen for sure James, you should check on the date for Halley's next visit.

After all, Mark Twain both came in and went out during visits by Halley's Comet.

And costs at least 8 1st gens.

Besides, wouldn't you rather have one of these?

Anybody able to identify the guy in the photo?

The one with the red tie to the right of Reagan?

That was back when Republicans were Republicans.

his wife Elizabeth is a great too!! Bob Dole is a WW2 war hero.. the whole reason he holds a pen/pencil so strangely. Also boys, I just read that long winded post of mine from the DGRR ‘17 “experience”.. I forgot how special that experience was. Just like to say Thank you once again, To all of you especially Mike (Susan) Crit, Tom Tom, Tim, Mike (Gslseforme) Robert and... “banjo boy-Deliverance dude” for helping Cindy and I and the “Award Winning” Rx7 5 Letter in our time of need. Ray? You were there too in a way since it was you chiding me, before it happened, to wrench my own. Thank you again.. you guys ARE the rotary gods. Nobody works on my cars but me anymore since then.

Hopefully someone will post pictures of the 01-07-20 OGTA Meeting this evening.

Ahhhh yes... proof!! Fact is I’ve been working on the MX-5 upgrades and would be banished from here if I posted my dirty nails from any boinger endeavors. The award winning 7 is in line for a bunch of stuff soon. Going up on jack stands as soon as I get over the flu. New engine and tranny mounts have been sitting for many months and I recently bought a Oil sending unit to go with my O rings at the filter pedestal. I’ll be sure to show proof. On another note I just wanted to say that mike GSLSEFORME is back in the hospital dealing with the same stuff he’s been dealing for way more time than any of us could endure. He’s a Rotary God Gladiator so send him well wishes....and A guy named Sandro (Rx7 club name still unknown) contacted me through the Miata Club to get my opinions on a 84 SE he is about to
purchase. I’m following all your footsteps in the path of “paying it forward” trying to make sure he covers his bases. He’s got a beauty in the works, original owner w 95k and I’m going to see him through it. Hopefully soon he’ll Grace this thread for you guys to give him your professional guidance.

Ray, no one took pics on Tuesday night, so I guess it didn't happen. It was too cold, but Mike made it out. We need you to come out and get pics back up. It was good to see you out driving the Limited Edition and enjoying the drive in the mountains. Now keep driving that 7 and keep it exercised.

Will do Holly.

After all, every good Rotor Head knows.

If you want to please the Rotary Gods.

You need to please Holly.

Here’s some more pics of the 2020 Mountains, Mike’s, Caffeine and Other Stuff Weekend.

Stolen from Mike’s cell phone. The dude’s a budding photographer!

Jealous of you guys! I gave up trying to put other Rx7 enthusiasts together in my area. So I’m meeting what will probably be my regular group with the Miata.. there are so many more miata enthusiasts out there. Meeting them first Saturday monthly at a Mazda Dealer ship sponsor in Cary NC. Miata owners shop talk is not nearly as involved. Wrenching to these guys is usually “ screwing in new antenna” or adding a back up cam.. but it’s all good cause for once I might sound like “paul the guy who works on his own car” even though I’m just becoming more involved. I’ve already been asked if I’d install somebody’s header exhaust.. doing the motor and tranny mounts in the 7 gets Oooos and Ahssssss from my Miata compadres.., fact is these miata are truly well designed and long lasting. Sounds like an FB!

You need to show up at one of those Miata Meets in the SE Paul.

Show them what a real sports car looks like.

The SC version of OGTA is kinda falling on its face....

Only two rotory powered cars. We kept a respectful distance from the V8 and the inline 6.

Yeah, tell them the RX7 is the reliable one and the Miata is on jack stands. That should stir em up!

Ray, you may want to look in on this thread and give someone a hand doing the vacuum hoses for a rats nest on an 81 FB after his rebuild.

Will do Tim, Rat's Nests Rule.

Does anybody know what a DIBPUT is?

And yes, now that I'm back to commuting into Atlanta in a 1st gen I'm reminded of what a rock solid ride they are.

Reliable as a Volvo, maintenance costs of a college student VW bug.

Nimble like a cheetah, purrs like a kitten and built for cruising the interstate a 80 mph.

And then there's those secondaries .....

Hey Paul, give us updates on GSLSEforme Mike, will you?

Hey Paul, give us updates on GSLSEforme Mike, will you?[/QUOTE]
Respecting Mikes privacy I can only say that recently he went in for tests and didn’t get to leave that day. As far as I know he was in there at least a few days. He may still be in there. Mike is tough as nails. I have heard some blow by blow accounts of his experience. I don’t know how he does it but at the same time there are no other choices so he takes it head on. I just wish the miles between us were closer. I mentioned Mike because this is a community.. one of the finest communities of sports car lovers I have personally ever been associated with... and being a community we look after our own. The “pay it forward” mentality is alive and well in the Rx7 Club especially right here in the OGTA. Reach out and Let Mike know we are all pulling harder than a 787 26B for him. Thanks for asking Ray!
