OGTA

Brett, don't worry about that steering play. It is a feature of the 1st gen. Besides when you always turning, like in the mountains, there is no free play.
luiml73 - that is quite an avatar you have there.

Waffles - hmmm good

There must be something wrong with that waffle rim to be in there. Not surprised to
see the undesirable plus rims though, they're not as cool as waffles.
Brett you show up in that bimmer and I'll have to disable it.

Yeah, I'm not sure what Brett is talking about, taking the beemer because it is more "reliable".
Kind of like voting Republican to help out the economy.

That made me laugh out loud.
I guess I'll skew away from the BMW talk and get back to what this club is about. Check out this sweet pic of the first gen I took a while back.
Another question- the drivers side door handle isn't working. On FC's, it's always the handle. Is this the same on first gens or is there a different culprit to expect. If it's decent over the weekend I'm going to tear into it.
That looks just like Crit's old SE.
You need to remove the door panel and take a look inside to see what's wrong with the door latch.
There's no computer interface, like in the BMW, pretty much straight forward. If you need parts give me a call.
So, if you can get the door handle working, you're taking the SE to DG, right?

Where can i find more info on the DGRR? Their website does not seem to have a schedule of activities. Seems to me there were links on the Rx-7 Club site somewhere.

Greg,
Below is a link to the itinerary from last year. It has pretty much been the same for the last three years, just change the dates.

There is also an informal/unaffiliated drive Friday morning that a lot of us go on. Link is below.

I made some progress on the FB today! I put in an FC oil cooler and stainless lines- making the mounting brackets was fun... I also put an upgraded alternator with a dual belt pulley on and removed some of the emissions equipment. I replaced the idler arm with a new one, too. I still need to put the lower valence back on but I was getting tired of laying on the cement.
This took out almost half of the steering slop...
This is the FC oil cooler and lines. The cooler has some damage towards the bottom but it doesn't effect the channels that oil runs through. I really should have just forked over the money for a good GSLSE cooler since it took some time to figure out and make the mounts, but oh well...
Parts waiting to be installed. I was going to use this FC oil cooler but when I was removing the lines from it, I warped it and I figured the other one I had was safer to use
Cleaned up engine compartment
Now to mount those front end pieces, tighten the steering box, and fix some of the interior rattles... Then it should be ready to make the big trip down for Tuesday's meeting.

Photos from the 4-1-14 OGTA meeting.
Temps in the 70's, lots of sun and the smell of rotary exhaust brought the rotor heads out this evening, we had a great time.
Both Greg the Elder and Greg the Younger showed up, with their increasingly rare unmolested 12A-powered FB's:
Greg the Younger needs to get his piston replaced, that thing looks like it's seen better days:
Tara brought her recently acquired SE, along with husband Brett to unplug the fuel pump when it flooded in the parking lot after the meeting:
Crit cruised in on his one rotor Suzuki RE5, one hoot of a motor cycle:
Kristi dusted of the PrePro and brought her out, which I'm sure she appreciated:
Jeremy brought his gorgeous white FD, which didn't appear to be leaking anything this time:

There was the usual smattering of FE's, Louis' blue one, Tommy's silver one with cool wheels and Holly's silver one with regular wheels:
Mike showed up in his road hugging Ariel Atom, great paint job on that unit:
Geraldo brought his MR3, which I wouldn't mind owning:
And Ben has a new 1st gen Miata with 15" Panasports, very nice:
And a trunk full of Nikki's, which were exchanged for a really cool 4 RX-4
Billy brought his boinger truck, but he claims he's going to replace it with a REPU someday:
