Looking good Ray! What's the spot on the hood? I might be able to get you a white hood in great shape, but needs to be cleaned. Let me know if you want me to check into it.

The spot on the hood came with the car, my speculation is that the kid had one too many fuel filters under the hood - he was saying how he always ran three fuel filters so that absolutely no crud got in the Nikki.

I definitely be interested in that hood! The one on there is serviceable but will be a real trick to refinish because it's down to the metal at the burn spot and there's a thin lip running all the way around that will be hard to disguise.

And Alex has generously volunteered his 85 gas tank for the project, one of the few things missing from the car. But it has some really nice stuff, a new set of door seals and decent window seals on the doors and two, count them, two front MAZDA emblems, now I finally have one for the Silver One.

The interior is decent, the PO was hell bent on making it look cool by painting every other part black but I just happen to have nice red spares of all the things he ruined, more good luck.

The biggest problem is he must have lost the key, because someone has taken a hammer to the steering column and the entire ignition system has been jury rigged. But I have a replacement steering column and key set that can go in there. The dent in the driver's side door frame where he tried to pry the door open with a crow bar will be harder to fix.

Amazing what a little elbow grease will do, it only took me a couple hours to get the scuz off. If the kid had just done that himself he might have gotten the $500 he was asking for it! But I do have to hand it to the kid, his intentions were good. Check out this photo of the clutch slave cylinder bleeder valve - yep, that's grease.

Apparently he figured if he greased the clutch cylinder it would work better.

Still a long way to go, but the fun begins. I think I'll install the intake manifold next and try to get it running, see what I got for an engine and brakes.

Down the road of course there will be an LSD, header, RB exhaust, restored true GSL interior, fresh paint, yada yada yada (or how ever you spell that). Fun, fun, fun.

Thanks for the picutres of the meet, Brett. I missed a good one.

We have been busy the last couple of weeks. But, catching up on the OGTA thread inspired me. I am going to make time to work on the Blue One between now and the August meet, and I am going to start negotiating the hall pass for the August meet tonight.

A lot of great reading and pictures in the last week. But, this (check out my sig) made my day.

PS I want in on the clean up of the White One Deux.

Tell me about those tacky rubber strut covers Mike, I'm a closet FC fan like I'm a closet Republican.

Not that I don't have the greatest respect FC's, and Republicans. It's just there's a better way to do things.

Naked Struts Rule!

And just to prove it, look what I just snagged on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I'll be picking it up over there in Powder Puff tomorrow afternoon when I visit Alex to pick up the 85 FB gas tank.

But I do agree on one thing, that Brett takes good pictures. He's our appointed Photo Master from here on in!

Nice to know you think the phone pictures are good, I'm at a conference in Chicago now and the only ones we have so far are from my phone...

So are you shooting for 2 equally awesome FB's, Ray? I see you want to put an RB exhaust on this white one too and put in the GSL diff and all. Or are you making the white one your new DD and you have some crazy plan for the silver one, something like a 13B? lol

That's what I'm figuring. Bookends. Clones. Each one will have it's own particular personality, of course, all based on the proven White One/Silver One blueprint.

RB header and exhaust, 2nd gen ignition, sexy Nikki, LSD, mint stock parts, Clarion sound, that kind of stuff. But probably not those black plastic strut covers.

Depends on how I'm feeling each morning as to who gets to go to Atlanta.

No 13B's or Del Horto's this time around, however.

Ray I can build you a better ignition if you don't mind some chevy and ford parts
under the hood.

If you don't replace the Nikki then its kind of a waste to put the RB exhaust on.
Its screaming for an after market carb.

Hey, maybe you can find a sterling or yaw modified carb to use. That way its still
a Nikki but better. I hear Edelbrocks work real well too.

I'll bet the PrePro doesn't even have those rubber things, that was bling added later when the FC's went into production.
Sorry to tell you Ray, the PreProd has rubber strut cover things. You are closer to an FC than you think.

I would like the record to show that I don't feel mine, regardless of it being rare and dignified, should get a full point. I almost don't like that it gets .75 until I have to replace something and try and figure out what year and model it comes from or if I can even get it in the states.

Ain't gonna happen Kristy, I'm drifting the other way if anything.

"I almost don't like that it gets .75 until I have to replace something and try and figure out what year and model it comes from or if I can even get it in the states."

This is why the PrePro is worth one full 12A equivalent. Indeed, the only FC I'd drive.

Tim, if I put in an aftermarket carb, what would I do with this???

That's my recent ebay find for the White One, the mint rotary engine air intake I've been looking for. And it's not even the good part. (more later)

Thanks for the offer on the ignition, but sorry, no Ford parts in this FB. I've got a second gen coil pack that's going in, a little direct fire is all we need.

One final thing Tim. There's nothing better than a Nikki. Del Horto's are nice. Nikki's are better.

I think we are getting wrapped around the axel on the White One Deux and the PrePro. What we should be talking about is taking the 12A out of the the White One Deux and putting into the PrePro. Now we would really have someting. All the cool ideas that the Yamatosan's engineers really wanted to put on an FB matched with a Nikki, a really cool blue air cleaner box, and a beehive. It just doesn't get much better than that. We could even throw a delhorto in one of the storage bins to complete the look.

PreRetroPro you mean? We could also remove those rubber strut covers to complete the job.

You up for Chinese on Wednesday Mike? Any other takers?

Ray, I'll stop over on Wednesday. It's probably the only way I'll get to see you. And hopefully, I'll meet the White One Deux.

Hey Greg, that's great news, Holly and Mike are already on there way. I was too, with your brake rotors all boxed up and ready to deliver but once I got out on I85 I discovered I was still having bearing problems, it was drifting and thump thumping when I got up over 70 mph.

So I had to turn back home, I put it up on the jack and sure enough the front bearings have loosened up a bit, probably because I didn't seat the races well enough. I need to make the readjustment but it's 11:25 already, add an hour trip into Atlanta and I'd get there just in time for the fortune cookies.

And of course there's that 100 degree heat and no AC slowing me down as well. So it looks like I'm a no show again. Just call me No Show Green.

I can deliver the rotors if you are eager to get going on them, or bring them to the August OGTA, if that will work.

I'll bet your favorite country singer is George No-Show Jones.

Don't worry about the brakes Ray. The August meet will be fine.

And don't think that there was any Ray-bashing between Holly, Mike and I.
That Chinese sure was good though........

Hey No Show Green, I got your phone messages. I was busy at work just before trying to get out of here for lunch, so I missed your messages. Thanks for the updates.

I was going to say you pulled a "Benton" on us... the old days where Tim Benton would set up meetings and not show himself.

We're going to start holding meetings at your house, so you are able to make it more frequently.

Anyway, glad you're safe, we didn't need any wheels flying off your car and creating a hazard for you, or anyone else on the interstate.

WTF is he doing. Anyway, I went on down and had lunch with the gang. Thanks for the lunch
