and the passenger side door looks like primer. Oh and more pictures.

Ray don't give Brett a hard time, we all own pissed-on cars like Jeeps and such. At least
he didn't give up his 7 yet.

Hey Tim, you know I'm just messing with Brett.

I've loved BMW's since I got my first chance to drive one (and last), a late '70's 2002 my boss owned back in 1981 (had to go down to Hartford and pick up some sea urchins).

The style is classic:

It's just not beautiful, like an SA or FB

Traffic was a bitch one the way there. The 4 hour trip turned into almost a 6 hour one. Someone went into a ditch in the center median on I85 near
Commerce, so that held us up for a good hour, and then the I485 loop held us back for another 45 mins or so with the weather and traffic. The ride
back wasn't bad though, not really any traffic and we only passed one cop.

The car is good and bad; the bad is that it has a salvaged title and he waited until I had driven the car and checked everything out to tell me. It isn't
too bad, $1600 for a decent looking and perfectly running and driving car is still a good deal. Other than that, the only other things are that it has
high mileage (+ a broken odometer), chipped paint in 3 or 4 places, 2 primered doors and a fender (a deer hit it, that's where the salvaged title came
from), and a broken drivers side window motor.

The odometer stopped at 126K, a common deal for these cars. He said that estimating high, it has around 100K more on it. I ordered the gear ($15)
to fix the odometer, so once it's working again the mileage will be approx. 100K off (unless I can bump it up another hundred-thousand). It has an
hour gauge on it that he's used to keep track of maintenance intervals.

The PO is really into BMW's, he's had many, his wife/ kids drive them, his race car was a 79 E21... Many of the parts on this car were replaced not
because they were bad but because he felt it was necessary to do preventative maintenance. It has a brand new oil pan and radiator, recently replaced
timing chain tensioner and all the vacuum hoses/ rubber intake boot. It's very clean under the hood and shows that it's been well maintained. The
original owner lived in Charlotte, so the car has stayed relatively south for it's life. The PO had the car for around 4 years before he sold it to me.

Exterior- 2 doors and fender, plus the sunroof, need to be resprayed. My grandpa is getting a make-shift paint booth set up sometime soon, so I think
when we spray the rear quarter of the FC I will try to do the BMW parts too. Other than that the body is straight. The front bumper has an IS lip (think
sport) and the rear spoiler is from an IS. It came with fog lights from the factory. Front tires are brand new, rears will need replacing in a few months.

Interior- the trunk is freaking huge! It still has the factory tool kit, too. The seats were replaced with leather ones out of another E30. The door
panels are the only gray parts and I'll be looking for black ones soon. Everything works besides the odometer and drivers side front window motor. It's
got a manual sunroof, sort of neat. AC blows nice and cold, it's got a new blower motor. All the lights work... The dash has 4 or 5 cracks, another
common thing from sun abuse.

Engine- everyone tells me I need to replace the timing chain soon. I've done 2 timing belts before, so I guess I can give this a shot. The tensioner is
new as are the plugs, water pump, battery, radiator, oil pan, thermostat, etc. It takes 93 octane, but the 34 mpg highway sort of makes up for that.
Once I fix the odometer I'll have some daily commute figures. It'll beat the FC's 18 mpg any day, though. It has next to no power under 3K, 4K with
the AC on. But driving an n/a FC, I'm used to this The PO swapped in a 3.73 rear end from the stock 4.10 to help out with gas mileage, too. Slows
it down even more, but oh well...

That's about all I've got, what else do you old guys want to know? The car's nice enough for me to enjoy. It's nice to be able to cart around my 2
younger brothers, a friend of the middle brother, and the girlfriend all in the same car.

It has a 10 disc CD changer in the trunk. Not keeping it, but I still think it's neat...

Even got a chance to sea foam it:

And that's my yearly piston-related contribution to the OGTA thread for this year.

Hey guys, I have been busy at work lately. Not much time to read or post.

Next Tuesday is the June OGTA. I am planning to be there and I might even give the Blue One a bath. Who's planning to be there?

Look what Billy found:

A little paint blue paint, a little love under the hood, and we are back in the saddle.

Billy, did it come with the 12A pre-installed or are you going to have to retrofit it?

Mike, I'll be there Tuesday and will bring the Nikki box and whatever else it was I was supposed to bring, which I can't remember right now.

Nice Find Mr. Bill!

You can get 4 really nice FB's for that. Maybe even an SA on the side.

Think about it.

It is a cute car though.

Pretty car! Looks like the OCD is working great.

Here's where we meet, first Tuesday of the month (which is next Tuesday, June 7). Folks usually show up around 6:30-7:00, hang out in the parking lot talking until around 8:00 and then head in for a bite to eat.

Be good to see you puaka! Yep you would have a hike, 1 hour going east according to Google (2 hours, according to Atlanta traffic). But Google would be right on the way back

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=dougla...ed=0CCIQ8gEwAA

If you have some other excuse for being over on the east side around that time it helps.

I saw a rare sight today, headed north on '85 around 3:00 pm.

Another FB, which I'll see maybe once a year, and this one is new to me.

It looks a little like new guys mthead's new car

It's black, but has some body kits, a rear spoiler and the broad silver pin strips at the bottom of the doors with the RX-7 emblem outlined. Very nice car, but the guy wasn't driving very fast, I only got a brief look as I zipped by with the traffic.

Anybody know who it is?

See ya'll tomorrow!
