Not yet, I'm gonna swap the alternator off the red one onto Nightmare, fix the belts, then fire it up. I didn't feel a lot of heat when I popped the hood yesterday to look for the issue, plus it was literally about midnight, and it was almost freezing cold. I only drove for no more than 5 minutes home without the belt.

Ok. Replaced the alternator, put on two belts onto the alternator (because the 12A alternator had a double pulley) and fired up the car. She ran just fine, but I got a LOT of blue smoke. It didn't smell sweet, so I'm praying to God that it's just that I premixed a little too much oil, and it's causing the blue smoke, but I'm gonna keep a close eye on the coolant levels, and always relieve the pressure from the coolant system using the radiator cap.

Any tips on another way to tell what's going on with this smoke? It's died down now that I drove it around the block, but if I open the throttle (while sitting, just using the throttle bracket) I get a little, but not much, blue smoke...

yep, a little blue smoke is a good thing, means the ole rotor motor is well lubricated. Just keep a good eye on the fluid levels.

That means you need to come back and visit for the Jan OGTA, to get away from that freezing place! Preferably in a rotary, which you could test out along the way down here

Woohoo! I'm glad to hear blue smoke just means my premix ratio may just be a little high. It was smoking something fierce when it first fired after the alternator and belt replacement, but it's been better. Drove it to IHOP down the road, and only got a little smoke. So I think I'm ok. Hopefully it isn't a really badly worn coolant seal.

In other news, I need a place to keep the 2 spare boxes of FB parts along with the transmission OG Kevin gave me when I bought the red one. I'm willing to donate all those parts (besides that tranny) to the OGTA in general, so whoever needs them can dig into the boxes, but I don't have a place to keep them anymore. I was keeping them at a friend's house, but since he's shipping for the Navy, his Dad wants my parts out of there, so they're all currently in the back of another friends covered truck. So if anyone would be willing to lend a small corner of their garage for a couple boxes of parts, I'd be much obliged. I just don't want to get a storage unit in my apartment complex for $70a month for 2 boxes of parts.

And thats why we moved to NC 2.5 years ago. Sounds like I79 down there between Rt 60 and the S bends. I used to stay at work for 2 hours later when that happened just to avoid the parking lot full of idiots.

Quad, I live in Lawrenceville and have room in my garage (even though my wife doesn't think so). I have one tranny in there already, so now I would have a matched set.

Greg you better check with the local ordinances first.

And yeah Kevin, Pennsylvania is cold, coulda told you that. It's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights down here in GA but I'll still take that over 10 degrees F any day!

I'd hate for you to get in trouble, but if you would take my parts in under your wing, I'd be much obliged. Lawrenceville isn't too far from where they're currently located (Hamilton Mill)

Kevin don't worry about it. My direct offce number is 678-530-4389. I live near the Sugarloaf Parkway and Highway 29 intersection on the south side of Lawrenceville. Greg Wilfley

Make sure the doors operate well. Cutting the roof off and not strengthening the floor correctly smells like fail.

I'll call you tomorrow (Tuesday) to figure out some form of drop off. It turns out it's only one box and the tranny, somehow the other box went AWOL when at my friends house...

And group help time! My car highly disapproves of left turns. Like, anything beyond a 30 degree left turn will make it bog, and almost made it stall once. Any clues? I'm gonna try to find the link to that carb guide Crit wrote, but in case I can't find it...

He'd need 4 12A's Mike, one for each wheel.

It's you Tim! Bring it to the next meeting, we can discuss some possible 12A equivalence points based on the paint job.

Billy and Crit, I tried to sign up for that wankel place but couldn't figure out how to do the enrollment page. When they asked me for my SS number and permission to do a background check I figured I'd wait and see how you all do first.

Done. It won't let me submit an article but I was going to submit the Sexypants II build into the "1979-1985 Builds" Section so your ReSpeed Widebody was not all alone.

You have to request to be an author. You are setup now.

Awesome, I'll write it out later on, I used the time I had to make a few speed shop concepts. Now I am off to work.

And with that I leave you:

Yeah, I had the same experience. When the site asked for a credit card I gave them Ray's.

I'll take another crack at registering. Maybe I misunderstood exactly what information was required to register.
