Hey Colin, another chance to get together late this afternoon/evening. Thinking about Dave and Busters. See the "atl get together" thread again. Anyone else able to make it out today?

Holly

Mary Christmas Dudes and Hannah Newton to All!

Just got back in town myself, reached my social quota for the month so I won't be headed out to the movies tonight, but thanks for the head's up Holly!

And yeah, vacation is great, I'm not back in the saddle until after the Jan OGTA meeting. Life is grand.

Thanks for the Bryn info Crit, now that you mention it, that driveway does look familiar.

Michael, what are you selling?

I've got a question for your electronically inclined people. I want to install a capacitor into the ignition-trigger wire in both the Maxima and FC stereo headunits, so that when the key is turned off, the stereo stays on for an additional ~5 seconds. I'm going for the way new cars work, with the stereo turning off when the door is opened, but I don't want to play with relays and diodes and wire everything here and there. A little cap put in the line is much easier, IMO.

So my question is, what size cap would I need to do this? I can't find anything telling me how much current the stereo ignition-wire draws, but I assume it's small since it doesn't provide much power for the radio as it is.

This might be ghetto, but I've always though about trying it for atleast a year. Caps are cheap, and if I don't like it, I'll start figuring out how to wire it all up with a relay using the door sensor as a remote wire and some diodes to keep the power from flowing back to the ignition switch and what not...

You won't' find a capacitor large enough to power a stereo for 5 seconds, at least not cheap. You'd be better off putting a time-delay relay on the power source so that it switches itself off.

Rather than do all that, why not fix the body damage?

Time Delay relay, I'll look into that. I'm in the process of getting all the body parts together, but I've already had 2 good deals on a hood fall through, and I really can't buy everything at once. I've got a grill and a few little pieces together, and tomorrow I'm looking at the junk yard next to PAP north for another hood latch support and whatever else I can get cheap. It's just gonna take time to get it all. Speaking of time, I haven't even started on the FC... Geez. But I'll looking into the time delay relay's if they're not too high, thanks for the info.

Oh, I have an announcement!

Craig broke the driver's side storage bin lid.. ;(

I mean I know he's ASE certified and all that, but what I hate the most is his attitude like he knows more about my car than I do and isn't careful with fragile things.
