ok sounds good. i'll shoot up there around 2 maybe, i'll give ya a call before i leave or if i get lost.
calipers look good man, like new. i was at pull-a-part yesterday and picked up a shifter and shift boot from what looks like came out of either a vert or s5 model. the idiot who sold me the car put an aftermarket shifter in it and didn't mount it right, it would always slip off when i would shift. i also got me a fan, it was pulled out of a ford wind star and it blocks well over 90% of the radiator core. wired it to a battery and it works good.

so i get my fuel pump replaced and fire the car up. she ran for about a minute and died. (obviously because she was running fuel that was left in the carb) i unhooked the main and return lines and there is no fuel shooting out. i see 3 possibilities here.
1. the fuel pump i bought is no good
2. the tank is completely dry (the warning light was on before i did the swap)
3. i accidentally reversed the fuel lines when i hooked the pump up
what do you guys think?

well the easy way to check the pump is to connect it to a battery for a moment to see if it works.
if you think the tank is empty put a couple gallons into it. and how do you reverse fuel lines on a carb setup? Isnt there just one line that goes to the carb? or is there a return line as well?

what i meant by reverse the lines is hooking the inlet and outlets up in the wrong places on the pump.
yes, it has a main and return line that both go into the left side of the carb, i unhooked both and nothing was shooting out, so that tells me either the pump is no good or the tank is empty. i'm pretty sure i hooked those lines back up right, i probably would of had some re mounting issues if it was wrong.

well that still leaves the easy test. take a battery, hook the positive to the positive terminal of the pump, then the same for the negatives. if it whirrs to life it works, if it does nothing then its a dud. if it works check your fuses for the pump, or the wiring itself.
vert where?
Oh yeah, got my front calipers installed today since it was nice out, gonna wait till the next nice day to do the rears i think, or the weekend since i need to have them turned a bit to get the crust off em.

well it turns out the pump i bought was no good, so i am going to have to take it back. i put the old pump back on and it fired right up, then i replaced the filter and guess what...no more sputter!
upgraded my alternator today. picked me up a nice s4 for $45. now i'm about to change my oil and put a K&N oil filter on.
you still wana wire my fan up derrick? i have been puting it off for over a week b/c i keep running into issues with it. now i feel its mechanically stable enough to make the trip to dandridge.

Niiiiiice
Sent today getting the rear calipers off and the new ones put one....snapped a bolt head on the drivers side so if i get the bolt out ill have it done in quick time..
Yeah, if you can see a 'clear' day call me and lemme know when you decide to head this way.

16 days untill dgrr hope i can have it running by then.ya i hate when i break bolts like that i ve done that one time to one of the exhaust manifold bolts and it was a pain in yhe ***.had to pull the motor and extract the bolt.pain in the ***
yeah...but this is worse really. If you snap an exhaust bolt chances are you can drill and tap the block for a new bolt. this busted bolt is on the lower caliper mounting ear on the left rear and its seized in the ear right now. Hopefully by morning itll be loosened so I can just twist it out like it was supposed to, or else im gonna have to go rent some fire...
quick question, i just had another damn caliper lock up on me. anyone know of someone who could supply with a right rear caliper for an 85 GSL?
on another note, i actually managed to wire the fan up myself, its not the best wiring job in the world, but it works. also got me an edelbrock air filter assembly.

Yeah...that wiring does look fairly hideous. As far as the calipers on 1st gens...I thought they were drums in back and calipers up front unless they were the GSL-SE's?
no. GSL's had LSD rear end and 4 wheel disk brakes as well. its basically the highest 12a powered RX you could buy. Gs and lower had standard rear end and drums in rear. GSL's and GSL-SE's are pretty much the same car, only difference is the drivetrain. they had the same features as well (power windows, cruise control, sunroof, rear wiper blade, etc.) leather interior was optional on both.
