how many hp to kill new Z06????
if your talking drag racing, trap speed only really tells you how your doing on the top end of the track.....you could have 2 cars with almost the same time but different trap speed......or about the same trap speed with different times. it all depends on gearing, how you hooked out of the hole, quality of driver and on and on and on
the NHRA guys trap speeds are anywhere from 300mph to 330 and there all running 4.50-4.85 sec passes( if they hook)
Drew
get well Eric Medlin-injured in testing for John Force racing.

Well.. I test drove the c6 zo6 yesterday. My college friend owns a Chevy/ Cady dealer. I went over to purchase a new DD (truck). And no, the 7 was home in the garage. Took the wife's car over to trade in. She wanted a new car as well. They just got a black/ one in. It was everything as expected. I am not fond of the bigger nature of the car as oppose to the FD. Although the drive didnt seem to make that room noticeable as pre-empted. Handling was better than expected as well I was suprised to feel how light the clutch was on the 500 hp car. My 7 (FD) is making close 375 to the ground. It felt the same to me only I shifted the Z @ 6000. It redlines at 7000. I shift my 7 @ 7500. I would say a good driver would take my 7 if we went from 2rd to end of 4th( would be a bit of 5th for the z 6 speed.). Not ******* my 7. This is just real world comparison. Which would hold true that a 400 whp on up fd should take it. By the way the sticker was 77750 w/ a 10000 dealers mark up. Total 87750. By the way it now has 19 miles on it as oppose to 13 !! Hope this take some wonders and speculations out of people's minds. G
i drive my buddies z06 all the time. i am amazed how comfortable the car feels over bumbs. quite amazing considering how well the car handles. i think my 7 with upgraded suspension probably handles just as well but man my 7 feels like crap on a bumby road. Thats what impressed me the most about the zo6 to be honest. I still think my 7 is more fun to drive. i prefer the small slot car high revving over the torque and mutted feedback from the road. Definately wouldnt sell my 7 for a 80k chevy. now a porsche 911 turbo.......yeah i;de sell my fd for that. My boss had the 911 and has a couple ferraris too....i would still take the porsche. he has ferrari cs 430 on order that one may chnage my mind. i hear those are the ultimate enthuasists car.

Yea, no kidding, but the guy above is semi right. The guy who ran the 10.8 had no power modifications whatsoever but did run the z06 with slicks. Damn Impressive that the car ran 10's with just a change of tires.
Run them at +2000 ft and they're 12 second cars.
Thats odd that i have close friends with zo6's one with cam supercharge headers and all tunning and another with hugh cam headers nitros all have slicks and there best times are in the mid 10's. I just cant belive stock zo6 runs hat well, but prove me wrong with time slips or track video!

10.85 @ 129 MPH - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=469NvIOiz7U
He also took a C5 Z06 with only CAI and DR's to 11.55 @ 120 MPH - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cWT4kZkYb8
Awesome driver, awesome car(s) and awesome racing conditions FTW!
I dont mind saying i was wrong but isnt the badge on his vette say its a 505/427? Mabye i misunderstood i was talking about ls1. Either way thats almost exactly what i ran in the 7 and its fun as hell.
I friend friend beat one. Fd making about 450. I'm sorry but on the highway there no way the c6 will win. The rx7 wasn't made to run a 1/4 mile track. Even stock turbos I used to eat up street bikes at 165mph
An average pass for a stock C6 Z06 on drag radials that you would buy and take to the drag strip on an average +2000 ft DA is a mid 12 with a half decent driver. That's about the same as a stock twin 380 wheel HP FD on the same day.
I looked up the weather data at that drag strip location at the time and date of the pass in the link above. The density altitude was around -2000 ft, yes that's air relative to 2000 ft below sea level. This data is supported by weather stations, not a hand held TAG.
