The ZR1 is trapping in the 131-133 range. I agree with the 530 rwhp to keep up.

Actually, he has a 9 sec car and his car will kill that ZR1 at just 12psi.

Currently the fastest stock z06 ran a 10.8 at 128mph....The ZR1 has not been around long give it time alreay people are trapping mid 130's with it soon better times will surface!

I enjoy looking at what it takes an older car like the FD to compete directly with newer sport's car's...Gone are the day's when all you have to do was some bolt on's and a tune to smoke everything! Vehicles now days are getting freaking crazy look at the new v6 in the Camaro it has 300 freaking horsepower 25 more than my lt1 came with stock.

I tell ya when's it going to end!...lol

mazda should just end this with a 26bt and bringing back the rx7.
Chevy shoulda put the rotary in when it had the chance. (History lesson for those of you who don't know.) We mighta had a 6L supercharged rotary by now. Betcha that would be faster/more powerful than that z06 we have today
my 2cents lol.

The title of this is not can a stock fd keep up with a newer more expensive vette. The title is "how many hp to kill new Z06????" For the money I believe that one could make an fd far quicker than the vette. If we really wanted to get into it, we could just bring it down to "who's engine is more efficient? vette or fd?"

@killakitiie:
You may have "9sec f-body's" but I've seen 9 second hondas... Ever see a 1.3l run a 6? =p

EDIT:history references:

This thread totally went to **** which is why i stopped blabbing my mouth here but i have to say one thing.

We know certain people have fast cars, it takes money to have a fast car, we all know that.

But dont just laugh at the idea of a supercharged v8 "only" making 638hp. That hp number is just a spec of dust of what it can really make. Remember this is a factory rated HP, there are limitations, especially if its a production car.

What other car out there can produce these numbers for the price? NOTHING.

GM had to keep it relatively competative for a reason. One article, i wish i saved the link, said they could have had the ZR1 be a 1000hp car easily, hence the 1 in the ZR1 title, but they wouldnt.

They COULD of but did not.

lol well i was saying in general cause there are a few people who think that way, with what you said.

Im not trying to start **** again in this thread nor trying to cockride the vette but you cant just say the car sucks because it "only" makes 630hp from factory. The ZR1 is an ENTIRELY different animal, which is why its praised the way it is.

Btw no i didnt get the nut off yet LOL When i buy coilovers, im gonna dremel the entire threaded stud off the tower

heres a top gear vid of the zr1, its the second one on this page.
http://www.hessmo.com/Hessmo/TG_Season_12.html

What I dont get is people are claiming a stock z06 ran a 10.8 but the rating by a proffessional driver didnt and now the zr1 with over 100 more horsepower driven by a proffesional driver didnt beat that time. I know there are better drivers out there but comeon its the internet I could easily go to the track and say my fd was stock and running low 12's and no one would know the difference.

*not saying I dont believe you...just find it funny*

Optimal conditions on that 10.8 and a driver that made many many passes. The ZR1 will break those times once the drivers get more seat time. Those low 11s were after only a few passes with a brand new car and a driver not familiar with the car. Its not easy to pilot a car with that much power to a 10 on those tires, but you can bet that with a drag radial or even a DOT-legal slick, they are going to bet knocking down mid 10s.

I agree with you, I don't give a **** about AC, PS, passing emissions tests, or a damn warrenty. What good is the warrenty anyway because most of the time as soon as you mod it that nice warrenty gets voided.

reading through this thread makes me think about something. how long will GM be around with our luck they will be gone by the end of this year. anyways i recall reading through an old magazine and they were doing tests modded cars vs the stock new Z06 at the time and the had a Z06 with 170k worth of mods and it only ran a high 9sec 1/4 mile. at 1000whp. thats just sad i know about wheel spin and all but if i had half of that to put into my FD i would destroy any car anywhere. 26b ported with 2 gt42r's low boost and you have a car faster than any corvette will ever wish to be

Blah blah blah blah blah. Enough of this bullshit "come race me buddy I will smoke you".

The thread went on long enough, and I don't give a **** if the closing of this thread kills the Racing Section.
