Newly offered wiring harness for the 13b

 

Yeah - Cody's work, attention to detail and documentation is off the charts. My Infinity harness was unbelievable. I just told him what options, additional injectors, coils and sensors I was going to be using. Everything plugged right in and work right away!

 

That harness looks like a million bucks.

Hey Lee, ok I read your thread

So first check and make sure that the lock setting on the Microtech is actually set to lock the ecu to fire at -5 BTDC and no at TDC or something else. The markings on your pulley are -20 and -5 left to right. Line up the -5 marking (leading) with needle on front cover. Line up the points on the CAS, on the bottom of the CAS gear, and drop it in with the cover off to make sure it doesn't move on the inside. It may want to move over a tooth or so when you actually stab it into place but you can rotate it to correct it if necessary. Though, I'm not sure if you're actually suppose to counter-rotate it to correct the alignment or if its suppose to move a tooth upon insertion but all that matters is that you either get the CAS aligned to where the timing light hits on -5 correctly or you offset it in the ECU settings to hit correctly. IIRC, I had my CAS lined up perfectly, dropped it in and it jumped over a tooth or two, then I reset it to what appears to be the same angle. My timing was off a few degrees, like 5* or so, and I just corrected it in the ECU offset settings.

That's really all there is too it. What you mentioned about firing order was regarding my 20b. The adaptronic was programmed 1-3-2 instead of 1-2-3 so thats why my thread has pages of timing questions/issues. It was never a timing issue but rather firing order. If your firing order was off your car would run like death.

I see that you've swapped pulleys to the 13b and attempted to transfer the markings.

Just take the 13b pulley off and put the 20b pulley on and run the engine for long enough to verify timing, you don't need the alternator or belts etc to do this. Then replace it with your 13b pulley for your accessories etc. This way you know for sure what is correct, and that you don't have the 13b pulley on incorrectly or incorrectly marked.

 

Thanks for taking time to reply. I can verify I have done all of the above. The marks on my trigger wheel are bang on. I swapped between pullies with the engine aligned at 5 ATDC to check. As far as I on now the hub on the motor is the 20b one as it was all set up with 20b pullies when I got it and I never changed that. Funny the firing order was on your thread! Was someone else that mentioned it to me!
Microtech is set to timing lock on when checking. I Aligned leading marks and CAS markings and dropped it in roughly centre on the adjustment holding the rotor in place. Hardly moved when it went in. So pointer stayed aligned roughly with the corners on the sensors. Is that where they should be or is it centre of the sensors where it wants to sit when installed?
Basically it has gone in exactly where I took it out and I tried a few times.
Also can anyone confirm if the engine should hit a peak compression point and then exhaust bang on TDC or does this happen 15-20 degrees before. Just trying to see where it could be going wrong. Is there a global adjustment on microtech that still has effect even with timing lock on? Please reply on my thread so I don't crap yours up! And for anyone looking for answers later!

Apologize for getting off track, just frustrated, don't want to bring any negativity into this thread, want to stick to the build.

you should try getting OEM helicopter parts to support the USG when you are NOT Boeing or Sikorsky or any of the other really large companies.

The problem is your just a small fish in their customer list, 1 and done type deal. Meanwhile, they are cranking out several engines for a couple other companies on a yearly basis.

Your business with them is just a small portion of what they do. Say they have an engine ready to ship out to you, then Mad Mike calls (or whoever) calls and needs an engine by next weekend. Are you going to tell your repeat customer who spends 6 figures with you annually to go kick rocks because this engine is Joe Blow's from Alabama?

 

Maybe it's time to take a trip to where the engine is getting built to make sure it gets out .

I would be sick to my stomach if I paid that much and it wasn't sent out on time. How many months are they late?

 

Really feel for you man.. When you are there slogging all hours into the night based on promises made by other people. It really is a poor show that a company that should be priding itself on good service as well as what we already know they can produce can let you down so badly. Hope it all falls into place soon. Sounds like you have quite a few plans going on behind the scene?
To be honest I am surprised a man with your skills didn't opt to build the motor yourself?!

 

With all that money and resources they get/have, this engine should have been out before they estimated it to be out out OR its just a bad business.

Regardless if he is just a "Joe Blow" one customer is one customer.

Example, let's say a "Joe Blow" says I need this engine by x date or else I'll be out money. Guess what the company has to do if it doesn't meet its promise...possibly pay for any damages. Lawsuits happen all the time over crap like this.

So let's hope you're not a business owner who thinks this way .


But, in this case, I don't think he signed anything stating he needs it by x date. Thus, this "Joe Blow" situation probably is correct.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't want to be in this situation.

Even when or IF you get this engine....I wouldn't want to do business again with this company.

 

What recourse do you have to simply stop or rescind payment? That's the only thing that's going to motivate anyone if it has been this long already.

 

I think he wired money... You know the things that people say not to do in case of scammers.

Obviously the company is not a known scammer, but to give you an idea.
