Fired it up for the first time and gave it a little break-in in the garage. Played with all the settings to get it as smooth as I could. Has a very lopey idle under 1200 RPM that I need to figure out. Idled through about a gallon of gas in an hour while I traced down and fixed several small exhaust leaks. Maybe an apex seal needs to clearance itself on the rear rotor. I got 105 PSI on 3 facings on the front rotor and 80,80,20 on the rear. I held it at 4000 RPM for about 5 minutes after injecting a good amount of ATF into the chamber and the low PSI seal popped free. I need to do another compression test to see what the rear reads now.

I think my big mistake was running it on starting fluid a few times trying to trouble shoot my ECU and coil wiring (injectors were not firing). Perhaps it squished the seal and spring down into the groove by running for short periods of time on a fresh build and it just needs to be revved and broken in for a bit to be at full compression again. Live and learn I guess. I just hope I dont have to pull it and put another set of apex seal springs and O rings in it...

I investigated missing break fluid in the reservior and found that I can create massive smoke clouds by pumping the brake pedal rapidly!!!

Sounds like I have a new master and booster in my future.

I may not get to take both cars to DGRR as planned.

I wouldn't run it like that. Brake fluid will ruin your soft seals.

NCross,
If you only have low comp on one face, it's likely a stuck side seal, not an apex seal. A stuck apex seal would result in low comp on 2 faces.

Installed an new S4 alternator, fixed a few anomalies in the idle, which is now rock solid @ 1k, and general running of the engine, no more hesitation. Also fixed the wire for the factory oil pressure gauge so that was kind of a bonus.

No solid plans at the moment.
Probably about due for a clutch swap, but I'd prefer to do that when my 'other' transmission is ready to swap in & it needs some work. Probably more that I have time for in the forseeable future.
Already swapped in the Blaster coils I bought last year, but that's so minor it hardly counts.
Gonna go through the brake system today while I have the wheels off for cleaning in the wheel wells. Nothing really wrong, more of a check-up pass.
It would be nice to get the AC back in.
Not many things of a minor nature left to do, frankly.
One day I'd like to switch back to a stock-looking stereo setup, but that will be a long Quest For Parts. The surround and the back-of-console sheet metal were cut for DIN fit decades ago. Not easy things to find.

Ripped out all the suspension washed it off with hit high pressure just need to do some sanding and get some, paint good as New!!

Afterwards take the engine bay apart and start sanding and priming the engine bay for New paint Flat black here we come!

One more thing should I relocate my battery for my engine bay space?

Decided to do something off-the-wall today and did the sound deadening.

I needed some mindless work for a change, was a nice change from sorting through vital engine wires.

Drove her to work then, we got tornado warnings! Monsoon rain and wind followed by gentle rain. Nothing hit us but, rain and thunderstorms unfortunately no spirited drive.

Ordered the banzai racing double sheave pulley kit (tired of my belt squealing), and ordered a autometer carbon fiber oil temp guage.
Once the guage gets here then ill add another 2nd gen oil cooler for a total of 2.
Tonight I will be drilling and tapping the rear banjo bolt on the oil cooler line for the oil temp sensor

Replaced brake master cylinder, installed stainless steel brake and oil cooler lines and bought 2 brand new Westlake 185/70 R13 tires for the front end. Much improved brake feel and stopping power. Tomorrow I'm going to strip the driver's side door and fix the window crank assembly (1/4" space when the glass is up) and re-wrap the exhaust header with Lava wrap. Might even be ambitious and try installing the PLX wideband since the O2 bung will be accessible. Weekend is already booked for the aluminum 3 core radiator installation😃

Started cleaning up the components of my blowthrough turbo kit. Putting it up for sale to raise cash for an Adaptronic ECU.
