What inspired you to get an Rx-7/Rotary?

the lines
I was cruising through Prescott, AZ in a piece of junk that needed a screw driver to start, but I'd just made a chunk of change so I was on the prowl. I drove by somebody's house and came to a halt when I saw this 89 GTU. The thing looked like it was moving forward at a dead stop. I just loved the lines. I particularly loved the fact that the doctor who bought it new had only put 27K on it in nine years. He tried to give it to his son for graduation but the kid wanted a truck. He was dumping the car at way under Blue Book. It was a no-brainer.

Back in the days, my neighbor had a '72 510 with a swapped 12A on Mikuni's. Always loved the sound of the car & how quick it was. A couple of his buddies had the same swap, so needless to say I was in love.
I now own an FC.

Saw an mag article about the Wankle engine while waiting to have my new '65 VW serviced.
Tried various cars from then to '88 - VW, 280z, 450SL! Read about Mazda's improvements in Apex seals and the Rotary and the RX-7's performance and handling.
450 SL was pretty, but automatic and soft.
My '88 Vert was bought new by me in '88. I'm the original owner!
Now running a half-bridged, pinned Cosmo 13B-RE with 3mm seals, 1500cc secondaries, Masterpower 60-1 Turbo, Haltech E8, Greedy Intercooler, Koyo Radiator, Tarus eFan, TII Drivetrain, Tien Coilovers, FC1000 Ignition, Custom Downpipe, and exhaust with 4" Tips.
She was Dyno Tuned by Steve Kan at over 400 rwh!
She's a Rip-Snort'n-Bitch and I love her - sound, spool, acceleration, handling, WOW!
Added nice OEM seats. Working on getting original sterio working, quieter exhaust tone, and Turbo Blanket and Downpipe wrap.

back in 92, i started hanging out w/ some race crew buddies and took autoshop classes at my highschool. then 93 came around and the FD was released in the states. my best friend and I at the time were into mr2 and eclipse gs-t's. His brother picked up a brand new 93 FD, and I knew this was it. My dedication for life to a unique engine and beautiful chassis design.
since then i've owned 2 FD's. Once I save up some more money, I will collect more FDs for different setups

"4 reason's why I've chosen the Mazda Rotary:
1) The sound.
2) The aesthetic. ( rx2, 3, and 7 )
3) Wankel's rotary engineering concept.
4) Smell a.k.a " Rotary Cologne".
With these reasons in mind, I made a life long decision to remain dedicated to the rotary regardless of negative assumptions people presume to be true. When you love something, you stick with it. 1999 is when I had my first "official" introduction to a Rotary. My buddy Asim owned an Rx2, loud as ****, stinky and clean on the exterior. The 2 had no interior, but he still found a way to brap around the street's. Curiosity got the best of me and being that we were friends anyway, I began to ask more and more questions about the car and what made it move.
10 years later (correction, 13 years later), Im still down. Present day my plans shift and I'll be making my transition from the street's to the track, I think Mr. Wankel would dig that"

My first one was a welcome home from 7 month deployment gift from my wife - Brand new 1983 RX7 GSL in the garage under wraps. God I loved that car. Had it for 13 years before some ditz make an illegal left turn in front of me in the rain and it was totaled. My second one is an expression of how much I loved everything about the first. Also a 1983 RX7 GSL same color inside and out - bought it despite its problems and know I will pour an endless amount of money into it to get it 100 percent again - why? Rotary engine, eye popping appearance, and despite all of its little problems over the years the most fun I have ever had in an automobile in my 46 years of driving.
