new guy looking for motor info on a transplant
Inspired by Zenjoe's Rotary VW Bug... I'm looking into putting a Rotary engine in a Karmen Ghia. I have built an 11s Camaro, and I drive a 84 Grand National, so I'm familar with both Carbs and Fuel injection. I would really rather go with Fuel Injection, I'm asking what engine would you guys recommend? I've done some research and there is suppose to be a duel injector engine, a 13b maybe? or did the 12A come injected? It would really help if I knew ruffly which cars (years and models) came with these (12a and 13b) motors, so I know exactly what cars to look in at the salvage yard.
I'm really into fabricating my own stuff and thinking outside the box....so in theory if you weld the eccentric shaft and offset the chambers so it fires at 90degrees instead of 180, could you make your own four chamber system? I don't know anyone else to ask these questions.
I really appreciate your help, and I'm really excited about this conversion.

Look into any '79 to '85 1st gen RX-7. It'll have a 12A with a carb. It's a nice way to get reliable power.
You could connect two engines together at 90º, but I wouldn't weld them. A CV joint or universal joint would work best. I too like Zenjoe's bug. I've got a baja that I was going to put a streetported 12A into, but a stock ported 13B would actually be better. However, a streetported turbocharged 13B would be the best, but that's a little ways away for me. For now, I've got an ACVW going in soon just to get it running. Then I'll decide from there how much off-road stuff it needs before changing the engine.
