What inspired you to get an Rx-7/Rotary?

time for a serious thread, and i am curious as to why people chose to get an rx7 whether it be an SA,FB, FC,FD, or any rotary for that fact...

for me it was the fact that its pistonless, affordable, different. i remember people always talking **** about rx7's, so i knew they had to be awsome..

i was very intrigued by the whole rotary design, and i knew i had to get one. also the chasis for the rx7s have always been and forever will be timeless cars. compare any car from nissan, subaru, etc.. the rx7 chasis always stood out to me.

and since then ive loved rotaries/rx7s..

best choice in vehicle

Because of the rotary engine, of course.

Handling. Parts are also relatively cheap, for the most part anyways.

Same as everyone else.
It's unique. I love the way it sounds. Love the way it smells. Love the way it handles.

wanted to see what the big deal was for being a motor that is looked down on.

other than that, realized it's a unique motor in comparison to the piston engine.

18 years old and this guy in a bridgeported RX4 coupe asked me if I wanted a ride. He started this thing and it was idling like crap (brap brap brap brap brap). I was thinking it needed a big time tune up. ( Found out later what all the brap brap/ bridgeport was about. ) So he takes off and it's stuttering along before 4000 rpm's and then he nailed it! Pinned my *** to the seat and that was it! The guy had a good laugh. I'm sure my expression was priceless. I became a rotary guy for life. Been playing with them since.........

My late dad had a white early first gen RX-7 with a red leather interior and a momo steering wheel when I was about 4. This must have been in about 1986-1987. Some of my earliest memories include screaming and clamping my hands over my ears when my dad would rev the car because of the redline alarm. My first car was a blue 1983 first gen and now I have a white 1988 second gen. I'll keep getting and driving RX-7's as long as I can as a tribute to my father.
