When I was about 13 years old (around 1995) I went to an air show with my family I saw a guy in a flight suit entering the special military entrance to the base with a Montego Blue FD. At the time, all I knew was that it was a greenish blue Mazda. The following week we went out to breakfast. I grabbed one of those auto trader books they had at the front entrance and started flipping through looking for THIS blue mazda. Could never find one in all the books I had searched through. Fast forward to the DVD release of the Fast and The Furious. A friend invited me over to watch the movie, wasn't really interested in the whole car scene (driving 89 toyota celica at the time). When the scene with VD driving slowly through the crowd I yelled at my friend telling him that's the Miata I've been looking for since forever.

Bought my FD 2 yrs later and was hooked ever since, still have the FD. Owned a GXL FC 2 yrs after that. Found an FB for $500 1.5yrs after the FC . (yes all 3 gens at the same time, see my albums) all registered and drove and played musical chairs driving them daily. FB sold after 8 months (had to move). FC is a shell, motor and drivetrain in a 61 2 dr Falcon (again I have pics in my album).

The itch has never left and I don't think it ever will. They'd have to pry my FD out of my rigamortis set hands. VIVA LA ROTARY!!!!

My dad raced rx7 in its in the early 80's my grandma also bought a '79 new and we would roll around in the hatch when we where lil.
So in 1991 I knew I had to have one, I got a 79 rx7 then got some eagle 5 stars (hot rims..lol) a flowmaster muffler welded on by Ed hanson and a front airdam. ( I thought i was pretty fly)

My kid is a 4th generation rx7 owner

It might have been subconsciously for me I grew up playing gran turismo and my first car was always an FC and than id upgrade to a FD and destroy everything with that oh not to mention purchasing the 787b and killing that game. Needless to say my first car was an 86 gxl now I own a 88 fry and no car will make me feel the way i do when I drive these rotary powered machines.

Owned many cars in the past from supras, z06s, 350z, Mr2's, and the RX7 fits the bill when it comes to a lightweight race car that is capable of extraordinary speeds. Although, I won't be using the rotary engine the FD3S is one amazing machine which I praise all the time.

Pure accident, I was looking around for a Clone Lotus 7. I saw one that was produced by Superperformance (known for their Cobra replicas) with 13B in it. I saw the car and when the owner started it was just awesome. I missed that car by a day, some 72 years old guy from Denver bought the car without even seeing the car and drove down in his trailer next day. I came on to this forum to ask about the engine. As I was browsing I saw this 93 VR with some extensive mods for sale. I called the seller, had him send some more photos, agreed on the price and make sure he will do the SMOG then drove up to the Bay area couple weekends later and drove the car home...

I love how this car handles, how it's rock solid at the track. I added 2nd oil cooler, bought a set of RPF1s / NT-01s and gone to the track. I used to own a supercharged Miata, M3 but nothing is close to this car. Just love it.

By the way I just realized that my post counts is not going up. Anyone know why?

Started when I was about 11 or 12, I had read about this cool engine called a "rotary" and how it was so different than a piston engine. I didn't care what car I got, I just wanted a rotary. Fast forward 15 years, I was looking for another Ford Escort to mod the crap out of since mine got totalled for me (head-on at ~45mph) when I seen an RX-7 for sale for cheap. So I grabbed it and I've been poor ever since.

Combination of good drugs (didn't attend Woodstock, but could have) and getting carried away at a car auction.

I lived in japan in the early 90's when I was young, I saw a few FC's drift on some mountain paths and was in awe.

Fell in love at first sight.

a few years back when i was detailing cars a coworker picked up an rx8 for dirt cheap cuz they arent popular around and when he was explaing the motor to me i was like O_o ...must have.

picked up a 79 with a 13b swap in it, not sure if 4 or 6 port, didnt know much about cars at the time. it ran for two days.. then a year or so later traded a bronco for a mint gsl-se, car was a blast, i regret selling it.

picked up a busted 88 vert, put a lot of bolt ons on it and drove that around til i rescued my incredibly clean 87 sport up with a blown motor for $400. swapped EVERYTHING onto the coupe and just recently got a new atkins streetport turbo motor! saved another blown up rx7 by putting my n/a motor in it, my roommate is currently driving that around.
