Alright guys, I don't get this **** at all. Right now I have some 16x7 3pc. BBS RS's with a 38MM offset.
The lip on them in 1.5". I got them for $180, they are genuine, the dude dind't know what he had etc....

Anyway, I want to put 3.5" lips on them so they are 16x9. It should fit right? I'm not changing the backspacing by putting new lips on, so it changes my offset correct?
What will my new offset be, and I will need bigger front fenders right? I also shouldn't have any rubbing issues correct?

So I've been ******* around, is my new offset 11? Since my backspace won't change?

help if someone could

i am looking at the infamous mustang replica wheels because i think they look like regamasters and i like them. + im a teenager and there reasonable

i am not opting for the commonly used 17x9 + 24 and 17x10 + 20 set. I don't want to roll my fenders or have to run spacers to clear my springs. or do i have any need for 10in wheel in the back because i would like to run autocross.

what i am thinking about is running the 17x9 + 24 in the rear of my car and running a 17x8 + 30 in the front.

which can be seen here
http://www.wheelreplicas.com/scwheels.html

what i am wanting to know is

will i have rubbing issues on the inside/ outside wheel wells?

will these look flushish haha? (i don't care about hella flush styling but i would like something close to murrays or rotary beats "usable" fitment.) i don't mind adding some small spacers

thoughts or comments on the sizing?

Thanks a ton
Shane

yah those will work fine. you should be able to run 235/255 stagger with minimal if any fender work (depends on camber+ride height)

My next car will have the "same style" offset and it wont be a drift car. Wanna start a separate one for vip fitment too?

Quit being serious sally's and douche the sand out once in a while.

it's an fc. This is fc fitment thread. Take my smart *** remarks or leave them. There's no need for another thread.

Feel free to chime in on these specs. I can't find them....

"drifting offsets" Lol.

Have you SEEN any d1 footage? Not everyone or even the majority is slammed on stretched tires with camber that makes only half of the tire useful....

It's for fun. Different kind of fun than "standard or right" fun.

Really? I think it's funny that you criticize some of the suggested wheel fitment in this thread, just to offer a setup like yours. Clearly drift/VIP setups are geared towards aesthetics, and nothing else; which is why a separate thread would help people from being misled into thinking that there is any performance or ANY benefit to running a low-offset super-stretched useless setup, period.

I'll put this in my signature then. I hope it gets more activity and draws more cool ****.

I can take hate alllllll day. I've gotten quite used to it on here.
If you're going to take it seriously and give yourself a heart attack believing your myths, go for it.

If i had some power, i'd remove some camber and run wider tires but get wider rims to have the same amount of stretch. I like stretch and i like how the tires behave and it looks good to me. Riding low and being crazy is fun. It's not for everyone. Neither am i because people get offended by me making a comment about +30 wheels. I'm aware this thread is to help people fit whatever size tire and rim and offset. Not just stretch, pull and camber and destroy their cars on every little bump, hole and dip in the road.

To be fair, my last specs were 16x8 -0 all the way around. 205 55 front and 255 65 rear. I didn't like them. I built my car to slide and be a dumbass with. I'm not kidding when i say that. I mean every word of that. I BUILT MY CAR TO SLIDE AND BE A DUMBASS WITH.

You dont see any benefit because you probably think in 1/4 mile and lap times, which is ok. Nothing wrong with it. So for the sake of not turning this thread into the "rest of them", i wont post on this thread anymore. There isn't enough tissue for the forum.

I live my life a quarter mile at a time... everytime!

Anyway, I made a post a while ago about wheels. They do fit. 5mm spacer in front, 20mm in back. You look for the old post, I can't find it.

Hey everyone, I've been trying to figure out the right wheel fitment that suits me and my car. I have an 89 stock body GXL (on Tanabe springs), I'm looking for a slightly aggressive stance geared towards grip. I want to run 245/40/17 all around on a 9" +35 wheel, car will be on coilovers (PBM's or Stance GR+). Lips will be rolled, trying to fit without pulling but we'll see.

I don't know much about wheel fitment but I am trying to learn. I've been using a offset calculator to figure out what’s best. So far with the setup I listed the offset calculator says that my wheels will be 15mm (0.6") closer to the suspension, which is ok for most cars per the calculator. I know the backs will fit I'm more concerned about the fronts is 15mm closer ok? Second is the fender clearance, I've measured my fender lip to wheel clearance with some digi calipers and I have about 1-1.2" clearance. The offset calculator says my setup will be 25mm (1") closer so it seems acceptable.

Let me know what you guys think about this, also attached is some snap shots of the calculator I used, hopefully it will help you better understand what I am talking about. Left side of the pictures is the stock wheel, right is the wheel I am hoping to use. Also if needed I can go to +30 or +25 but I think that would deff. need a fender pull with +25's. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Looks like you want to run 245/40/17 x 4 on 17x9 +35 wheels, with Stance GR+ or PBM coils.

The backs will fit no problem as you have said, but the fronts are a different story. I used to run 17x9 +24 w/ 255's on the front with Stance Coilovers - the slightest wheel bearing deflection would rub the wheel on the springs. I measured the clearance and it was maybe 4mm give or take. Your +35 offset will send the wheel into the springs just from mounting alone. This problem cannot be solved by running narrower or wider tires since the wheel is the one interfering.

My recommendation would be to space them out to +22, roll the fenders (no need to pull), and run camber suitable for whatever you're doing (autocross, road racing, etc). You'll clear no problems with 245's.

Thanks MaczPayne, glad you answered my question you seem to be one of the more knowlegable people in this thread.

The wheels I'm looking at, I can get them in a 23mm offset which sounds like it would be almost perfect on the fronts (I can get a few 1mm spacers and ajust from there).

How much camber did you need to run on the 17x9 +24 w/ 255's?

Thanks again.

About 2 degrees, if I remember correctly.

23 offset would work great, actually; just make sure your wheel bearings are nice and tight.

Keep in mind that I only have experience with Stance coils, others might give you more or less clearance.

I currently run a 17 x 10 +18 in the rear with a 275 on stock suspension, with just a pull/rolled rear fender. If you are on aftermarket coilovers, you could probably run the same offset with 285's and have the clearance, otherwise you should run a little less offset, between +10 and 0 offset should work well.

Are you sure the rears are wider? 17 x 9 +9 with a 215 should not be that close, as my wheels are closer to the fender, and I'm stock and fit tightly.

Well, I'll tell you that doesn't look like a 17 x 9 +14, but whatever.

Like I said, I run a 17x10 +18 on stock suspension/fenders. You'll have a bit more room for the larger (285 vs 275) tires. That's the offsets I would run if I was you.

fyi, 285/40/17 is a pretty tall tire and will hit the front of the fender well right at/above the moulding when the susp compresses. 275 is hit or miss there. if trot's car doesnt have that problem, hes probably not very low lol

I've been looking at a set of 18x8 wheels with a 45mm offset and I've been reading a bunch of info here, but then I thought "why the hell don't I just go out to my TII and get some measurements?!" I have KYB AGX struts with Intrax progressive rate lowering springs (about 1" drop I believe) and stock camber. I didn't bother with the rear because there's tons of room back there. 18x8? no problem.

I also happen to have two sets of stock 10 spoke bologna slicer TII wheels, both sets have stock size (205/55/R16) tires mounted, but one set are Bridgestone Potenzas (which are on the car now) and the others are some even cheaper all seasons. There are some important differences. The all seasons mount with the rubber flush to the flange of the wheel (did this with a straight edge btw). The Potenzas stick out 3/16", or 4.6725mm. Since it was so easy to measure the backspacing on the spare set, I did. 5.75" (well, I **** hair less than that, not even 1/64" less, there's more error than that in a Craftsman tape measure anyway...), or 146.05mm. I could also just barely fit my little pinky knuckle through the narrowest point between the tire and the strut assembly, which was the lower spring seat. Judging from what I could feel, even with an 18" wheel you won't be able to clear that seat. Now, if you have coil overs that's a completely different story. This is for us poor bastards who have school bills, house payments, and child support to pay. That knuckle measures in at 1/2" uncompressed, so doing some in-house testing I'd say 3/8" (or 8.255mm) is a damn good guess at how far my installed tires clear my suspension.

Okay, so we have some important bits. The installed wheels have tires that stick out 4.6725mm, the backspacing of the wheel itself is 146.05mm, I still have 8.255mm of clearance. Adding to a grand total of 158.9775mm MAX baskspacing for stock FC fronts. However, that's only if you want to tickle your steering's prostate. At least give her a couple mm breathing room, I would say anyway. So between 155-157mm MAX backspacing should be a good number.

That said, the wheels I want that are 203.2mm wide, 45mm offset, and assuming like 10mm for the flange and/or tire sticking out they'll have 156.6mm backspacing. I'm thinking I might run 5mm spacers for the front, though it'd be nice if I didn't have to; and probably 10mm spacers for the rear. However, if for some reason I end up having to use greater spacing for either front or rear what do you guys recommend? I don't care if I have to get widebody fenders, I've been assuming that as an eventuality anyway.

edit: Oh yeah, I'm thinking 235/40/R18 Nitto NT05 tires. I guess they're 2.1% larger circumference, but discounttiredirect doesn't list a 35 AR for that tire, which is what I want. The next closest thing would be a 245/40ZR18 and those are 3.4% greater circ, at about .5" less room for the strut to travel. There's a 225 available, but regardless of how it fits I don't want to buy a whole set of wheels and tires to just gain that little contact patch. I'm figuring the 245's might just be too bulky for the wheel. I do plan, if I get these wheels, to measure them carefully before ordering tires.
