Good thing is I have extra parts to throw something together.
But I haven't gotten around to pulling the trans yet.
Had the same thing happen when I was drag racing alot. I broke the tab off the release bearing. Hopefully yours is that easy It still requires you to pull the trany though.

Anybody going out in Cola tonight? I might be able to sneak out again if there is a few rx7s out. Would be nice near Lexington though.

I guess I should check in more often. I was at the range in Moncks Corner that weekend.

Anyone in Chucktown that wants to BS rotary stuff hit me up (PM/EMail). I've got an ongoing project that's always a good backdrop.

Anyway.
I have some rotary related plans in my garage this weekend.

Sorry about that. We don't do weekend mornings - with a 10-month-old, we kinda treasure what sleep we can get.

SC Anybody out there? 9/29/2012

Anybody going out in Cola tonight? I need to tune some so if the rain holds off I'm in. If it's a ghost town I'm going to wrench in my garage.

Hey guys, i would sell my zo6 and get back into a fd if the is someone local that can work on it.I used to go to Bill Trompeter, god rest his soul.I dont have any tools or time to wrench on it. It would be my DD so taking it to GA or NC for repairs wont work for me. I would like to get back in the rx7 community, i got a killer grill and large deck .the cookout that i hosted back in 06 was a good time. Eric

Not sure that an almost-20-year-old car is the best choice for a DD (regardless of marque). Hell, I'm a little tetchy about my 7 year old RX8 as a DD.

My last 2 fds were low mileage and werent beaten to death.I had 4 years of DD with almost no problems at all.My concern is that there is no local rx7 shop within 3 hrs of me.

I had RX-7s as DD's from 1992 - 2004 and didn't have problems either. But with the youngest US RX7 being 17 years old, finding an unblemished car, finding a good mechanic, and finding parts are all going to be difficult. Had the same issue with my 04 RX8 - alternator died, relatively minor/normal maintenance issue. Took 3 weeks to get the #$@# alternator... 3 weeks of being thankful we're a two-car family. So you're back to the same issue - the cars are old enough that there aren't many specialists anymore, and those that exist are a distance away. Non-specialists will tell you the engine is toast if you take it to them for an oil change. Not an awesome choice for a DD. Maybe 10 years ago, but not now.

I'm not saying don't do it. What I would recommend, IMHO, is a FD fun/weekend car and a much newer/more common DD (not making any suggestions). If you want an FD as a DD, you need to be able to fix it yourself, and IMHO have the common failing parts on hand as spares already. YMMV - if you can otherwise get to work without a car, not as big a deal.

I know they are not the best DD.If there was a good shop in the low country i wouldnt sweat it if it took a few days to fix it. It takes the chevy dealer a week to fix my zo6 every time its down there.

Hey Eric.
Me & my brother (gxl90rx7) are still in the game. And are both in Goose Creek.
Brother now has an FD, and has been working on it a lot.
If you have any FD related questions, i'd ask him.
As for me, I'm still on FC's.
