Some sort of internal coolant issue. The cooling system is getting pressurized from the combustion gases. I'm thinking coolant O-ring. The builder is saying he thinks it's more likely that the actual metal housing blew out.

ps. this is on my boat engine not a 7. v6 mercury 3.0lL
If it's an outboard engine, call around and find someone who does EDM. They can basically plasma away enough of the metal to bend the rest out.

If if's an inboard... try welding a steel rod in the hole; the welding heat plus rod to grip should help you turn it out. I've seen this done a few times at the race shop I used to go to in Greensboro. Always a last ditch effort, but also always worked.

I would guess that since it is in the middle of the combustion area, they wanted to get the heat into the water and out of the iron as fast as possible. Otherwise, not sure.

Yeah, I know what to look for (or rather, what he'll be looking for). Doesn't really matter either way. I'm pretty much set on getting out of this game. As much as I spent on this engine to get it running again only to get 800 miles out of it has soured me. I'll be putting all of my drivetrain parts up for sale this week. The only thing that'll stop that is if it was just the coolant seal that got pinched.

I've NEVER had this much trouble from rotaries, but having all of this in the span of a few months is just too much.

Anybody in need of an NA FC hood? It's just sitting on the side of my house and I'd hate to scrap it if it can get some use. It's red, paints a little faded, but no dents or anything. I'm in Charleston, let me know if you're interested. It's free!

Do they do that at Town Center in Mt.P??

A buddy of mine went to the one in Charlotte last weekend and they had so many Lambo's up there.

I should be going to C&C. I need some inspiration.
My rx7's battery is on its last cell though.

Preston,
Yes, C&C takes place in Mt.Pleasant.
You should come.

I sold my FB awhile ago and been wanting to track it down and buy it back. Last i heard about 2 years ago my buddy called me and said he saw it on 526 near mount pleasant broken down. looks like the guy sold my rims off i put on and put the stock back on as well.

funny how that car never broke down in 5 years i had it. i only blew two engines (but still drove it home) , bent some axles (that i still drove home on) and seized my rear calipers up that i kept driving home on from columbia from a meet and had sparks flying out the wheels by the time i got back to charleston. that car was awesome!!

SC Moving

So I'm moving from Columbia to Seneca on Sunday. Hoping to do more with my RX7 this summer. Are there any regular meets near Clemson? Any body down to hang in February?

I second Bob's mufflers. They've got great pricing and have always done me right.
