Well, I just dropped the 8 off at the dealer for the recall work to be done about an hour ago. They told me that it would be a week or two before I get her back...service manager told me that with the problems I have been having that they were gonna try and just get the new engine ordered. They also told me that they have already ordered 3 other engines for other 8's in the area. All the re-manned engines are coming out of Fuquay, so you would think there wouldn't be that long of a wait...I guess we will see!?!

So Nic, I heard they're putting the 3 cylinder Metro engine in place of the Renesis, is that true? Will they have at least the pull string under warranty on the new engine? I mean, you'll be pull-starting it every morning so I'd imagine they'd wear out pretty fast. HAHA. Good luck with all that. I hated being deployed and away from my baby for four months.

Welcome back Nic. I'm sure you guys had a great time. I dropped my car off this AM too (gave me a hot new cx-7 to ride around in while they have it). Don't know if I'm on the new engine plan or not yet, although I have not had any problems. The service guy said they have two 8s in needing new engines right now. a week or two isn't too bad. Better them do it right the first time right. And yes Eric, I think they pull string is under warranty! hahaha.

I already did a couple of weeks ago. I thinks it was an 87 with S5 tails and a $99 paintjob in green/blue. Inside looked ok, I think the radio was missing or something like that. Anyway I'll go back by and take some pictures of it for you and post them up and see if they will let me start it and so on and so forth. When I stopped the first time it was on the way to work (I pass it everyday) and my first impression was I hate it when they spray paint everything on a car, chrome included. But anyway I'll check in out and let ya know.

Thanks Greg. I didn't think teal was a stock color anyway. Hmm.... If it runs OK, maybe I'll give 'em a low ball offer.

I just got the call from the dealership...Mazda has authorized my engine replacement!!! I'll be out of the car for about 2 weeks! And they did not give me a CX-7...Enterprise gave me a, I hate to say it.......a Ford Freestar. But they said to give them a call tomorrow and they will get me in a G6. So, looks like I get to break in a new engine soon. Glad it made it through the Dragon!!!

Yeah, one last run on the ol' gal huh? Haha. Did Keri ride along with you this time? Congrats on the engine replacement. I wish I could get a new engine too, like that anyway...FREE!! Ford Freestar, haha. At least you might be able to get a G6, I wouldn't mind testing one of those either.

Bobby, how is that CX-7? Got some kick to it? It's turbo right? Are all the CX-7s turbo or just some models?

Nic, glad you made it back from the dragon.

How do they justify a new engine? What kind of test (vacuum)? I have a friend who has an 8 and I need to know what to tell him. What years are covered. what dealership?

Im done with the questions.

The whole thing just pisses me off. I say instead of crying and being sad. We send a few dozen Tomahawk missles into the their sand dunes.

As the Marines say " Kill'em all let god sort them out"

thanks nic

Well speaking of impressing. I left my park lights on as we went to dinner sat night and drained the battery, A few of the local ricer kids came over and gladly gave me a jump. "Show us something when you leave" one of them said. So I pulled out slowly mashed her to the floor, Speed shifted second the car fishtails sidways so much I have to get out of the throttle. My wife Was impresed.

She always aggs me on when I get paced by a ricer, 99% of the time I wont engage. I like my car too much to get busted for stupid stuff.

Ill bet next time she wont be so eager.

And Nic get you some BOOST and you can do more than chirp tires J/K

Actually, thank you Johny for showing your support. We really don't get the praise we deserve sometimes.

That's awesome Johny! HAHA. Show those ricer kids what's up, haha. After we left Champs the other night the three of us (Phil, Chris and myself) drove around downtown and around there, and at one point a Mustang (could have been a Cobra, I don't remember for sure but it was pretty strong I know that much) went by revving, and the guy in the passenger seat leaned out the window giving us all the thumbs up. I'm not quite sure if they were trying to get us to race or showing support, haha. And when we were driving down (don't remember the name of the street with all the bars), there were a bunch of people out there, and there was two guys and a girl standing on a corner, and as we passed I heard one of the guys yell "gorgeous, f**king gorgeous, I LOVE RX-7s!" Lol.

Like I already said in a pm to you, this car isn't worth a lowball offer. They wouldn't negotiate with Stina and I to bring it down to 1800...and that was like 2 months ago when they were asking $2,200. It is not in good shape at all. Car has probs and the owner of the dealership is a non-negotiable witch. She said she couldn't fudge below 2,100...obviously after 2 months of no sale she's realized it isn't worth the $2,200 she was asking and reconsidered...she is prolly waiting for some sucker to buy it who knows nothing about 7's/cars. Greg will prolly mention many of the same things I already told you via pm, but we'll see. Even $1800 was more than it's worth in our opinion, but I was trying to get my hands on a rotary then and I liked the color and interiors condition.

Yes, I'm with you Eric and Nic. Thanks Johny. We really don't hear it often, so when we do it's great. It really touches our hearts to HEAR people care instead of just trying to believe it. I'm proud to have served...even if it is only the reserves right now. Thanks again.

Jason, I think we still have the pix of that teal car... it's in shitty condition, though, and I don't recommend that one for your girl. I refuse to let ANY friends get a car with a CRAP aftermarket paint job. I learned my lesson on that one already.

Like David said, the car does have some problems... most of which are fixable, but honestly not worth the $$ that the stealership is begging for.

If she is interested in getting one, lemme know what her color preferences are, and we'll keep our eye out for you. I know of a certain S4 black N/A that is in need of a driver... and I have first dibs, but I don't think David and I need a 3rd slow rotary.

I'll let you know how things go if I don't get a wild hair and grab this one up.

Thanks Johny... It's good to know people think about the soldiers on a day like today. Many people overlook OUR guys, and are only able to think of those who died on 9/11. We need to keep all of those who defend our Country in mind regularly.

I can't wait to go home after work and thank my Sailor/Hero/Man.
