Saturdays In Raleigh, Nc
Hey, Tom, long time no see.
More first gens would show up if I didn't have to work every Saturday, although the last few times I've gone I've been sporting the Miata instead of the GSL-SE (I sold the FC, the SE was more fun.)
There are a couple more guys running around in first gens, though.

In a nutshell, I've added about 25 or so HP and a new suspension. Unfortunately it's a lot louder now too, I need to get a new muffler sometime.
Compression Check Dealer Price
Hello all,
I had my car checked December last year. Frema Motors (Mazda) in Goldsboro did my compression check for 72.00. My car tested 9.5 on the front rotor and 9.0 on the back rotor which rated good. Since RX8 is out dealerships are now trained to understand rotaries at a better level. The dealership in Goldsboro has good rotary mechanic he came out and explianed his reading and told me that cars with this type of reading would run forever if I never have an issue with over heating and maintain clean oil at the proper level. I highly recommend a compression check. By the way Mc Nair performance in Raleigh near the airport charges $100.00 for the same check without Mazda's equipment.

JKM, when is the next meet, I really want to check the car out. What did you do to the engine? Still running good? And have you worked on the body yet? I cant imagine what 25 extra hp would do because it was really strong before.

Red S4 Turbo spotted in Apex
Spotted a really nice red S4 turbo sitting in a shopping center on Ten-Ten in Apex this morning as I rode in to work. Not sure if this person is on the board or not, but that looked to be a really nice ride.

I actually haven't done anything to the engine itself, but I did a lot of maintenance to it to get it running well and added a K&N intake and a Racing Beat straight pipe to replace the catalytic converters. I took it to the dyno and it put down 125 HP to the wheels, not bad for a first gen. I estimate that it was around 100 before. However, it just meant that I needed suspension more since if you were turning and gave it any gas at all you'd start spinning. I just put on Tokico struts and RB springs last week.
I haven't worked on the body at all, so it still looks mostly the same. I have put on a few things that it was missing though, like a side mirror and a GSL-SE badge.

Sounds great, basicly the things i was wanting to do to the car. I cant imagine how it runs now considering how quick it was before. Well keep enjoying it, I am sure there is another RX7 in my future though not before next year, gotta get married first! I will try to make it out for a meeting anyway though.

NC FC3S, I tried to catch him but I was in my old pickup, which has no pickup! His car was clean though. Maybe we will run see him again. We have to do whatever possible to get everyone on board. 7 and 8 owners are a rare breed.

I got the schedule for next week, and I'm actually off on Saturday so I should be at the meet. I'm not 100% sure I should take the GSL-SE though, it has some SERIOUSLY bald front tires (bad alignment) but it should be okay for the trip, I've been driving it all week anyway
I just realized that I haven't driven a rotary-powered car to a meet in over a year. I think we were talking about going to Deals Gap LAST YEAR when I was there.
