Good to hear from you Paul! That is a good looking shop and an even better looking miata Happy to hear you're doing well!
if any of you guys need my services for anything I can take care of you. As long as it’s not a huge proposition consider me still a Wankel head and supplying the rabbis price.. you pay shipping I’ll take care of the rest on me. Yea and even you Ray!!
Ray!! Brett!! Any body else!! How yall doing? Been a while but I still think of you guys. No rotaries in my life but after being bounced out of every job (they all hate me) I restarted my old business last year. Busier than a one armed paper hanger…I’ve got my machine shop back up and running. All alone naturally!! Hers a pic of my shop.
From back of shop
From front door.. 550 square feet
Same building my dad and I built in 1984. Brother still owns it rents me the space. One fourth of the space I had back then but it’s all I need. Hope you boys are good! I know that ain’t nearly possible for Ray but I’ll bet his Silver dream car is real good!! Hers the latest from me. Sold my NC April last year to open the shop. picked this one up in Ky couple weeks ago. It’s the one. 34k 04 Mazdaspeed Mx5 with Flyin Miata turbo Lil Enchilada full kit. 205 whp. Near mint. New tires going on it tomorrow. Swapping out all the fluids next week. Shocks in my near future. Other than that it perfect. Sorry it’s got pistons… but they’re really nice pistons Mr. tirebiter!!
Hope you guys chime in. Lots of names I probably forgot.. Hope you’re all still with the program.
Nice shop, but not enough half done blocks, heads, and metal shavings on the floor.
I threw in my hat in the "machining" ring. AMATEUR style.
I made an adaptor for my rotary to the Porsche trans. It works believe it or not. I used a CHEAP chinese lathe to make the flywheel adaptor. Then I used the mounted flywheel to center the two plates.
On other news. I think, 917 aside, this is gonna be the best looking Porsche ever.
I’m doing the Miata thing these days.. but my roots are all Wankel..there was an annual meet at the Dragon… Miatas at the Gap (MATG)… there was talk about a guy who constantly went out of his way to fix people’s cars .. so I posted this as a tribute to OGTA.. I still get goosebumps thinking of you boys..
God Bless you all.. even you Ray.. 😂
They had a "swapped" category this year. And I, thinking it was Deals Gap ROTARY Rally, thought that meant cars with rotary engines swapped in them. What they actually meant was RX7's with piston engines in them. BOOOOOOO.
I thought this was a ROTARY rally not an RX7 rally.
And I remember when we used to make the piston engines park away from us.
Meanwhile I got my Porsche with a rotary in it, there was a Mazda B2300 with a rotary in it, a Miata with a PP, and a bug with an FC engine. SMH!!!!

Is it us that gives you goosebumps, or is it remembering the guy from deliverance that appeared out of the woods on the side of the road in the middle of the night and had the heater hose you needed?
And James, I agree, RX-7s with pistons should be banned from all rotary meetings.
And I always liked the segregated parking arrangements as well.
Its like I'm on a bunch of engine swap forums..... And EVERYBODY assumes LS. Like "you guys know there are other engines out there?"
Don't get me wrong LS is wonderful. I am 100% an LS fan. SBC swap the world. BUT The forum name is "swapped Porsches" not "LS in Porsches". SMH
Oh well. It just pained me to see my buddy from Charleston hurry up and finish his B2300 and those folks from Ohio drove that MG all the way there to attend Deals Gap RX7 Rally.
EDIT: ok I'd be lying if I didn't tell you guys........................................
I am going to use the PP in the RX986, but..................
You're joking with the chevy cartoon, right James?
Nope, serious as a heart attack. I'll still keep the PP, but I miss the sound of turbo. And I've got a spare 4.3 sitting around. All I'm missing is two turbos and some exhaust piping.
Fun thing about the RX986, because it uses an electric water pump, A/C, and no P/S, swapping engines is ridiculously easy. Just two coolant lines, a fuel line, throttle cable, and three wires.

tom, that was quite a rush in motion. Remind me of the gentleman’s name (white tasty SA and he was retired Sheriff funny as hell and told my wife to stay close as we walked up onto the dark back yard full of deep holes used as service pits).. also I can’t recall the guy that also poured over my Five Letter Show Winner (Ray!!) that also earlier bought a 13b from me through Carlos..(?)
One of these days I will fix the fuel pump and charging issue in the LE and come see you guys. I am still rocking my 23 year old Miata though. If I bring that I will park on the other side of the parking lot
Shameful display, but it has been in storage for almost 5 years now... Bridgeport 12a, full RB exhaust (the good years of RB, not the later stuff), but a stinkin Holley on top. Fuel pump went out pulling out of driveway, and an intermittent not-charging-the-battery issue. Yes those are a set of spare waffles, but I still run the LE wheels.
