No hurry, I'm headed up to Indiana for the week so it's not gonna get any love this week anyways. If you find a fuel pump in there, let me know. I might need one of those as well.

I want to buy a fuel pump for my 1984 Rx-7 and save it for some day in the future in the future. there are two kinds on Rockauto. One for $27.79 and another for $82.79. Other that price I don't know what the difference is. Any suggestions?

Well if you go with rockauto it looks like you have only one choice, the Delphi unit, since it looks like the other one is out of stock. I don't have personal experience with either one of these, so I can't recommend them, chances are they don't work.

On the other hand I've used this Carter unit on a couple of my 84/85 GSLs as a direct OEM replacement without any problems. $44.78 with free shipping arriving tomorrow:

Amazon Amazon

You can get it for $27.03 if you go with "other sellers" from the Amazon Warehouse, delivered Wednesday:

$27.03
FREE delivery Wednesday, August 9. Order within 6 hrs 32 mins

Thanks Ray, We just got the bill to replace the coil and distributer on my wife's Acura. $1,132.32. Crap! We could've had a V-8!

I would think so as long as it still has a 12A in it. If it's ported or you have an aftermarket carb you may need something else however.

As far as I know, it's stock, just had all the vacuum stuff and extraneous carb stuff removed.

How does it fit however. The one on Atkins rotary has two 90° bends, and the Carter looks like it's all straight.

The carter unit will fit right in as a replacement for the stock fuel pump, which is located in a cradle near the back axle that's isolated from the main frame with rubber grommets to reduce vibration noise. The nipples are a bit different, but basically you just take out the old pump and put in the carter unit. The only real difference is that the carter unit is a bit smaller in diameter, so you need to wrap it with something so it fits tightly in the band that ties the pump down. I cut some rubber from an inner tube and wrapped it around the carter pump a couple times, worked fine.

must be no longer available. was it blue? i remember a blue one a while back, asking like 25k. been sitting a long time. i think a rebuilt engine that hadn't been ran yet. entirely too much money for me for what it was with too many unknowns. kinda reminds me of one i've seen many yrs ago that would go up for sale quite a few time. i get a felling it's changed hands a few times.

Yes looks like it's gone now. I forgot what color it was but the body work had been completely restored with an excellent paint job. No engine though, the price tag was quite reasonable.

Anyway, here's the $25,000, in case you're ready to buy:

Coffee table talk for sure.

Got pics of the interior and what's under the hood, which I'm hoping is a 12A?

I wanted to share the sad news that our rotorhead friend Mark (Ken Tetsu) from Michigan passed away yesterday 9/11/2023. He bravely fought a long and hard battle with a rare cancer. What a wonderful person he was. I was so glad we got to enjoy his company the many times he made it to our rotary events. He will be greatly missed.
RIP Mark.

Thanks Holly, he will be missed. It's a very sad day for the RX-7 community.

Mark was a frequent visitor down here in Georgia and the North Carolina mountains.

He would drive his red FB down from Michigan, regularly winning the Iron Butt award at RX-7 events.

His frequent visits included regular visits to DGRR and camping at Road Atlanta for the Mitty.

One night, after the Mitty wrapped up, he camped out in our back yard.

He especially loved the Blue Ridge Rotary Rally (B3R) meetings, with their cold nights camping in the mountains.

An especially memorable occasion was the fall 2012 B3R.

After a terrific weekend all in attendance packed up to leave on the last day.

Except Mark, who decided to spend an extra evening, camping alone.

During which he was visited by a bear.

Having befriended the bear, the next morning he headed north in a blinding snowstorm that hit overnight.

We were all glad to get his cheerful announcement that he'd arrived home safely.

Nothing phased that guy, not even cancer.

Some pictures from the fall 2012 and fall 2013 B3R meetings:

More from the Mitty:

Ray, that was a nice summary of some of the great times we had when Mark was able to make it to our meets.
