Check out this pulley kit, I just put the same one on a REPU and a FB: https://www.banzai-racing.com/store/...lley_belt.html

If you want to go a step further, you can get this bracket from them too. Not required but makes tensioning the belts a little easier: https://www.banzai-racing.com/store/product1500.html

Here is it on the turd

We also have a FB that has a 12a that we are planning to bring.

Looks good, but they did all that work to paint the engine bay/underbody and they couldn't paint the vent area where the wiper arms go?

Check to make sure your pulleys are aligned and square with each other. Usually a single belt will slip and make noise, not shred itself.

Definitely going to check that out. I did try and pass someone who was going slow on the freeway in Atlanta while going 80mph and next thing I know It had slung off and was rattling around. Then I look under the hood saw my belt in that state

Tim has a good point, make sure you have the spacer in the correct spot on the large alt mounting bolt. If it's missing or not in the right spot it can misalign your belt. Ask me how I know Stock you have a big fat washer but mine was long gone so I'm just using a stack of washers.

Hey everyone, I put that double sleeve off near pulley from bonsai racing on my Rx7

and it fit perfectly did everything correctly but now it didn’t wanna idle timing wasn’t off. Haven’t adjusted the idle screw in anyway I’ll perfectly before the pulley but now after idols really low in ties could it be because there’s extra strain from the two pulleys on the engine, causing it to idle lower and making it die should I raise the idle screw to compensate for the extra strain engine?

Looking good! I wonder if you maybe bumped an ignitor connector or vacuum hose on the distributor? I did that when fooling with my alternator - it took me a day to figure out that I had a loose ignitor connector.

The new pulley shouldn't be more strain on the motor to effect the idle IMO. You could tweak the idle screw up a hair and take it for a spin, if it runs fine then maybe that really was all it needed.

I see you have the Banzai adjuster also, could you have gone too tight?
Check your belt deflection against the FSM, or you could wait a few minutes and I bet someone here knows it from memory.

Is your dizzy bolted down tight? Could have bumped it and rotated.

Also, I went with I believe a 3L220 belt from a lawnmower. It goes over the main pulley and water pump. I too had a belt snap once, but since I had the lawnmower belt powering the water pump, was able to drive home on battery power.

Hey y’all I got the car running. It’s back in time all is fixed. I was wanting to know what is a good clutch kit. I should get for my 85 RX-7 12Athe throw bearing is about to go out and the clutch is pretty old and I thought it should probably be good to replace all what’s a good replacement. I’m building this car for street use up the mountains not much racing. It’s not much of a track car. Just wanna know some tips and advice. Thank you.

Hey, I'm glad you got it going!

Exedy makes a good clutch for that kind of driving, should be able to get a kit for ~$200. For that price I would steer clear of the no-name kits.

Exedy is a good clutch. There three puck metallic clutch will hold up till about 150 pound feet at the wheel through a normal transmission rear end combo. After 150#s though you're gonna find the ACT 6 puck is the way to go.

Don't think I'll make it this year. Not only am I busy elsewhere in life, I also don't think the car will be "proven" by the time DGRR 26 rolls around. I wanna put like 5 or 10 k on it first.

Also, I've made some SERIOUS improvements on the adaptor.

Before the adaptor was just a peice that I put in between the flywheel and the Mazda CW. Now I made an adaptor that bolts to the Mazda CW and the Porsche flywheel bolts to the adaptor. I have 100% confidence in this setup to dump the clutch at 10 000rpms.

^^^^^
Thats the Mazda CW and the old adaptor. See how I just drilled holes through the adatpor and taped holes in the CW..... I didn't like that.

The new adaptor is sitting alone to the bottom left. It has lands where I can bolt it directly to the CW, and it has enough meat to thread M10 X 1.25 bolts into it.

^^^^^^^^
To get the holes centered I turned out a piece of round stock to match the Porsche flywheel and center drilled it to 8.5mm.

^^^^^^^^^
I used the round stock to center my holes on the adaptor so the flywheel can bolt directly to the adaptor.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I used to have a 12A back in the day and had some brake related parts left over after I sold it…let me check and I’ll let you know. What area of Georgia are you located?

Unfortunately I only had the fronts/rears of my old 91 rx7 and the stocker from the 93. I only see a right rear for a gsl on eBay, asking $200 for it. Any luck on here in the 1st gen marketplace?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a concern about my 1985 Mazda rx7 it’s about the new bonsai racing dual sleeve alternator pulley. I put on the car a few weeks back. It’s on and it’s running good. Fits good the brackets on good. Everything seems to be good except for when I’m driving around and I hit exactly 5000 RPM in above it screeches the belt is on pretty tight and the alternator bearing isn’t making any noise. I don’t know why this belt should still be screaming like this. I don’t think I can go any tighter without it risking damaging the alternator bearing. Have any of y’all had issues with this kit
