Old guys with 12As club meeting
Well.. I would say the change is for accuracy sake. Considering we have not seen an actual "12A" show up yet.

I was thinking, OGTB has a nice ring to it
Kidding, of course. I'm thinking I might not be able to make it to this meet- I've got class from 5:30'7:20, then it's another 45 mins to get there, so I wouldn't get there till 8:15, and I've got class the next morning. Sometime soon I won't have the tuesday class, so we'll get around it.

Okay, I'll admit to the thread title. It was Crit's joke, but I made it happen cuz I thought it'd be funny as **** to see how long it took someone like Ray to notice the change. lol
Thanks Crit for the great idea!

It was funny, even though I didn't notice it and probably never would have. I'm not that compulsive!
So Collin, how'd you do it? Did you hack the site or pay somebody off?
Michael, it has to be OGTA. It's all about tradition. A twin dizzy might have been the "first" 12A, but it's not "the" 12A.

The improved 12B was quietly introduced in 1974. In the US it was the start of the single distributors engines. NOTE: the previous 12A & 10A engines used the twin distributors. Applications: 1974-1978 Mazda RX-2 1974-1978 Mazda RX-3 ...
well until i see proof that the 1.1L(1146 cc) engines became 12b's but continued to be called 12a's cause mazda didn't want to confuse anyone, they're all 12a's in my book regardless of yr. but we could argue all day the design theory and progression of the number/letter designation of these engines from the 10a on and what we think the reason mazda didn't do something. sorry if i'm starting to sound like an ***.
Hey Ray are you commuting yet with the Silver one?
Looks like its turning out real nice. Of course I'm partial to that grey color as well.
You need to get a SP into the white one with a big Dellorto on it

Ya'll know what tomorrow is... Who is planning to come out? I will be there, sporting my 12A. With some new underhood cosmetics (inspired by Crit, provided by Brett).
Hey, Tim, I thought for sure you had something to do with the 12B fiasco. I guess I owe you a beer next time I see you. Crit and Collin get water. JK

Jury is still out on the Silver One, I'm still fighting with the logicon. Logicons and me don't speak the same language. But I'll bet anyone a buck I'll be there in the new 12A tomorrow evening.
Tim and Michael, I'm all for porting the White One, once I get the Silver One done. Sounds cool and after driving Michael's ported 13B I'm convinced on porting. If it can do that for a 13B, imagine what it will do for a 12A!
Hey Mike, go easy on Colin and Crit, I think they were just suffering a little 12A envy. People do crazy stuff when they get jealous.

It has to do with the seal configurations, IIRC. I just cant seem to find it with a quick Google. Maybe later when I have less to do at work

There were also 13As just as there are 12Bs.

Wikipedia was recently vandalized and lost a lot of the info, but I've got PDFs and original documents if they can't be found online.

i now remember running across some of this info yrs ago. in going back over it i can't seem to find what crit posted 1148cc. it's all 1146cc so i guess how much can 2cc's matter.
Whoo Hooo Hoooo!
The AC fuse also drives the entire logicon unit!!! I had removed the AC fuse thinking I didn't need it since I don't have AC anymore. But after reading Mike's wisdom about AC's (even though it's patently wrong) I was inspired to put a 15A fuse in the AC slot and now the new unit, transplanted from the white one, works fine, lights and all. (Roland I can still use that unit your dad has since now I need a functioning logicon for the white one)
Thanks for the AC tip Mike! I could say that I just wasted two precious weekend days fiddling with logicons, but then think of all the things I learned!
Like check the fuse box first, idiot.
(Actually, I did check the fuse box and fusible links, 7 times. But I was checking the "blower" and "defog" positions and hadn't noticed the AC fuse missing, which is strangely placed off to the side of the fuse box).
Now if it will just stop raining long enough for me to reinstall about 100 interior panels I can take it out for a test drive and maybe have her ready for tomorrow evening.
