Just a reminder for everyone, the January OGTA meeting will be Tuesday after next, JAN 15, not next Tuesday, Jan 8. Sounds like Crit's new car is coming along fine and Austin is getting his going, so they should be the main attraction! (Unless Holly gets one).

I'm still working on the business cards, will post a draft in a few days.

Haha, I'll have my car washed and waxed this time...and probably detailed inside. The perks of working for Toyota. :-D So you all can't call my car the 'faded GXL'.

It also gives me more time to get this cough killed. Smoking probably doesn't help.

And just a little bit of a local update. I finally got around to separating the transmission I gave Brett (Tornado Silver FC) for Christmas from my spare N/A 13b. He cleaned it up externally and I put it into his passenger seat. ^_^

I must say, that, because of my new job, I really want....a....Prius....

Just a reminder for Y'all that the next OGTA meeting is one week from today, NOT TONIGHT!

Sorry John for the weekday meetings, but we will be having more on the weekends, early next spring most likely. Hope to see you there!

be there

Hey guys, I'm planning on being there next Tuesday night.

Had a question. My car runs rough when first started, like it's out of balance or only firing on one rotor. Rev it a little and it settles down. Could this be a sticky apical seal? How can I check?

Greg, I have had good luck with Sea Foam freeing up sticky seals. I just added a bottle to a tank of gas a couple of times and it did the trick. I have been doing this at every oil change for the past couple of changes as a preventative measure. Ray has used it as well. He can provide his opinion. He used it un-diluted by adding it through the carburator (I think).

Hey, if you are finished with the 2GDFI documentation I loaned you bring it to the meet on Tuesday.

stuck seal is a possibility. i had the same problem once, turned out to be just a bad plug. they were way past due to be swapped out for new ones anyway. running rich tends to fowl them prematurely.

Sounds like some new folks this time, great! And some new cars if Crit and Austin get their new acquisitions on the road.

Here's an idea for our business cards, what'd think?

Autozone. It's near the MMO on the back wall.

Just a suggestion. I think that it would be cool to have an outline drawing of a 1st gen on the card (FB or SA). I would put "OGTA" across the top (just above the car). Perhaps the "OGTA" would look good written in a slight arc. Maybe spell out "Old Guys w/ 12As" in smaller font just under the car. Then add contact info (Ray's phone #, maybe address to this page, and email account used for this club).

Another option would be to do as above, but use a 12A (either outline drawing or actual picture) in place of the 1st gen.

Perhaps I could whip up a couple examples.

Please do Kent, if you can have them by Tuesday we can talk them over at the meeting!

Contact info should probably be this web site and post:

Okay. I'll try to put together something tonight or this weekend and I'll just post it here. I'll just put generic contact info (like xxx@yahoo.com for email) and then you guys can decide on a design and figure out what contact info to list before you have them printed. Speaking of which, it may be a good idea to setup a club email (maybe OGTA_club AT yahoo.com?). it would be good in case people want to ask questions. Also, everyone in the group could give you their email address and you could set up a mailing list to send info to us for meetings and events.

What about adding some contact info on the back and a short URL or explaination of what OGTA is - that way we could leave it under the wipers of local cars.

You can probably find it in most auto parts stores. I usually get mine Advanced Auto. They keep it with all the other magic potions (brake fluid, MMO, etc.)

OK please submit contact information ideas (I kind of like "Mike Simonovich, Lawrenceville") and we will decide on something at the meeting. I will also bring prototypes to have a look at, if anybody has some ideas post them up so I can make copies.

Oh yeah, that Sea Foam is the bomb, I started by putting it in my tank then started pouring it straight into the carb and now I'm stirring a teaspoon into my coffee every morning, makes everything run smoother.

Guys, I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it to this meeting even though I badly want to.

My new job doesn't pay much. I get $1.50 an hour, plus what is usually $7.00 per car. $2.00 if it's a Rental and $30.00 if I have to wax it and shampoo the carpets/headliner.

The drive is about 22-ish miles. So it's a gallon of gas each way for me. This pay period alone, I've spent about $84.00 in gas and I haven't gone out of my way even once! Just to work and back.

So needless to say, I'm looking into something different...again...that pays hourly. I'm not entirely sure if I'm coming to the Tuesday meet.

Seafoam Deep Creep aerosol spray is also amazing. Works better than PB blaster in my opinion.. That, and it HAS been used to unstick apex seals. It also sprays upside down and walks the dog...
