Dude we need to tune that thing. Sounds like your idle circuit isn't right and maybe the AP needs to be adjusted. I know your intake mani isn't the greatest but it shouldn't run that bad.

The two factors I see making the biggest impact is ambient air temperature. The higher the temp the lower the mpg. And, the traffic. When the rotary can cruise it does quite well. Ray can attest to that. He does a long commute early in the morning and is consistently over 20 mpg.
WOW, I think that is horrible mileage. I got 18 to 20 mpg with my 3rd gen driving the same interstate you drive to and from work. I got almost 30 mpg with it on long trips.

Is the FD gone and sold, or just removed f from daily duty?

Your tellin me. I spent almost twice the amount the carb costed on jets, tubes, chokes, etc. I believe that the IM is the root of the problem. I may be sourcing a Lake City Sidedraft (the short stubby one, think IDA on its side) and bolting that on soon. Have to wait til after christmas Who know's, I may even have it bolted and riding down to the I77 meet with it

PS - I am still going to run it a jet richer than perfect, just to be safe.

Oh, and flames. Yeah. Flames too.

Ray was right both. I sold in April the week after Deals Gap to one of the 12A guys... Ian George, he lives in SC.

And some lady smashed it, but I cannot post pics.

Sorry,
Holly

Hey Holly, any chance you joining us and taking up your OGTA Secretary responsibilities on Jan 8? (Mike has been asking).

Crit finally found an SE, it's a beauty and he has to have it running and inspected before his wife gets back in a few days, so it seems to me he might be showing up in that - perhaps this will inspire you to give up that FD fetish?

Dang guys, this thread has really took off since last time I was around. How is the Suwanee Jeffrey's these days? I still work at the one in Braselton but the Suwanee location is under a different owner now. I wish I could make it up Jan 8 but I'm going back to school on the 4th - plus it just wouldn't be the same Jeffrey's, being that Jeffrey no longer owns and has control over it lol.

Dang, Paul is the Guy who started this whole thing!

It would be good to see you one of these days foozberries! Hope school is going well and if you need someone to take care of your car in the mean time we can probably help out - SAs have gotten hot in recent months (now worth 1.5 FBs).

New ownership at Jeffrey's - that explains the waitress downgrade we've seen in recent visits. Maybe we need to be meeting at Hooters or someplace like that.

"Can old decrepid guys from SC attend?"

The Older, the Better. Especially if you are that guy with the dual alternator pulley's that Stu was talking about, I need one!

And yes OGTA is one place that truly appreciates old fangled cars. Next meeting Jan 8.

Merry Christmas you guys, hope you got lots of good stuff (for the cars, of course).

Ray

Ray, I plan to be there on the 8th. I know I have been slacking lately. Just coincidences that I have not been able to make it.

Crit, hopefully we can see this new machine of yours.

Holly, you know you don't need an excuse with us, besides when you don't show up we get to talk about you.

Next OGTA meeting is just around the corner, Tuesday Jan 8 at Jeffrey's in Suwanee. This will be a conventional evening business meeting, the main topic for discussion will be whether to manufacture some calling cards like the I77/I40 club has. I'll bring some prototype designs, should be easy to make ours better than theirs.

Banzaiscooter, the batteries in my scooter are nickel-cadmium and fully charged, that thing is fast. But I'll probably come down in the 7, it's safer out on the interstate.

Sounds like ACBoost might need his diapers changed!

Ain't it great living in the SE where the 7's roll all year round?

Ray

So i did end up getting that FB back from my friend like i though i would.
83 GSL. Sanded for paint. Completely shot interior, complete with crappy working windows, and leaking sunroof. About 4 inches of play in the steering both ways. mild flat spots noticeable above 60 mph. Has a new clutch, and its starts up just fine in the mornings. im gonna rip out the nasty *** interior, try and figure out the steering, and it needs a new carb or something. Hesitates above 4500 rpms, bogs and/or dies if you stab the gas at idle.... but it got me to work this morning no problem!

It's a project for sure... But it drives and runs, and it should be there on the 8th.

Austin

That's terrific Austin, bring it down, maybe we've got some parts to help out (I'm still in a cleaning mood).

Michael wish you could make it but I know it's hard to get some Old Guys out of the house (take me for example).

But I am going to try to make that Bonzai Christmas Bash, weather permitting. Hope to see you there Darth!
